Please. Remember all those games we blew late in the fourth quarter?   Remember all those no-show games like Pittsburgh?  David Harris was the leader of the defense for every single one.

The Curtis Martin of linebackers is finally gone. Good riddance.

SAR I

Puhleeze. When David Harris does anything akin to unbreaking Toni Braxton's heart let me know.

too much common sense for the Jets.

Actually, now I'm hearing there WERE negotiations, so I guess this didn't come completely out of nowhere for Harris? Still shouldn't have put TB in that spot though.

Right, and based on that logic you will bash every move the Jets make to make yourself feel better for suffering for decades as a Jets fan. I get it. We all cope differently.

Actually I bash the Jets because they're a mortal embarrassment. I cope by watching all kinds of weird porn

How do you know that wasn't the plan?  before his agents leaked it?  Bowles was delayed from his presser perhaps he was meeting w/Harris..

Jets released ILB David Harris.
The move wipes Harris' entire $6.5 million salary off the books. It comes five days after the Jets reacquired ILB Demario Davis from the Browns. Now 33, Harris has lost a step, but hasn't yet gone off the cliff. A 10-year veteran, Harris had been a starter for the Jets since his rookie year in 2007, making him the longest-tenured member of Gang Green. The Jets are gutting the AFC's worst roster.

That's an understatement (overstatement?). Jets are gutting the NFL's worst roster.

Thanks Macc.

We used to win ALL the offseasons!  Now we can't even do that.

I like what the organization is doing finally... get rid of everyone, start fresh... It's not like they were going to win anyway.... build a culture of younger hungry talent... Now for Harris he didn't want a paycut... ok, peace out. I am also ok with this... don't overspend and maybe we could have a winning team again in a couple years.

You know you just proved my point? The anger in this thread is not about this move, but it's about the team sucking. Because if this exact move was made by Bellichick, you would praise it. But since the Jets upset you, you will bash whatever move they make. Thanks!

nobody is bashing the decision.  They are bashing the way it was handled. Just like  with Mangold.  Same thing. It was also classless of Mac to leave Bowles holding the bag in front of the press by himself.  And I don't even like Bowles, but that was wrong too.

Barring Hansen and Stewart blowing him away between now and September I don't think the last well paid vet Decker has anything to worry about. (this year anyway)

He's far and a way the best route runner in an offense with a lot of green receivers and young QB's that could use a man with his talents anchoring things. He's needed if or until those WR's prove up to snuff.

Wow I step out for a couple of hours and Harris is cut. If Decker is next it's a full on Tank!

Not necessarily, just get rid of the older players... that cost higher then they are worth... Decker is an awesome WR... but he is not a #1, he proved that two years ago if you forgot and that's why we needed #15... But he won't get cut... Decker is worth too much on the trade market like Richardson.

I disagree with this too... Harris was great but he chose not to take a paycut... So they let him go.

Probably should have held off on this till later in the day in hindsight... Brought Harris into the office, say it face to face and thank him, deal with media later, don't leave your HC having to deal with something minutes away from a press conference... Mac's call will ultimately depend on if Davis is a sufficient MIKE or not, but the implementation of this plan left something to be desired.

Davis replacing Harris.. interesting. We all know Harris was 10 times the player Davis was. Is this just an indication that even if Maccown outplays Hack that Hack will start? Seems that it's played out for these guys. Just an interesting outlook that's all.

It was a leak from, most likely Harris' agent... It was not the Jets... That is probably exactly what the Jets were going to do.... but we never know because someone blabbed it to schefter.

I guess that was the plan with Mangold too?  Slip up once, OK... perhaps there was a justifiable cause, but twice?  With respected long-time vets that spent over a decade here?  Nope.  Not recognizing the pattern would be negligent.

In the case of Mangold it was definitely Mangold's agent... how can you protect that from leaking.

True but Harris was arguably much better than every ILB we had on our roster.

The key word in that sentence is WAS, Harris was a great player for this team but in honesty he was way overpaid at 6.5M/per . Hate the fact he's gone but it makes business sense .

And with Mangold?  There was no offer of a salary reduction that was rejected by him.  Mangold said himself that he was amenable to a salary negotiation.  Nope.  They cut him and he learned of it while at Disney with his family.  Classy.  OK to cut him.  But not ok to not have a conference with him first before its announced.  As for  Harris... I see some are now blaming the delivery of the news on his agents.  If that is the case then his agents are fukin' evil and despicable.  Why would they humiliate their own client?  That makes ZERO sense, but I have no knowledge of the type of character Harris' agents have.

It doesn't matter really, because we've all learned from this threat that we are bad fans and don't deserve the team to act professionally on any level and that it's all our fault.

There are just so many Debbie Downers on this site... Ready to pounce on everything, much like the media... It's sad really because I finally feel like the Franchise is taking the correct steps to rebuild.

agree 100%.  Just make the cuts with a little dignity and don't humiliate your players.

I am just not ready to throw the organization under the bus over a leak... and with Mangold yes it could have been his agent because it makes the Jets look bad not Mangold.
