Jets beat writers

It seems Sam Darnold not only brought a refreshing air of confidence to the Jets organization, the Jets fans, but also the Jets beat writers.

For the first time in forever (maybe the 97-99 Parcells teams) the beat writers are intentionally looking for positives to report, yes it’s only a week, but with Sanchez, and Geno it was always looking to find even the slightest negative thing to report from day 1 even when they would have good days in a practice, or even doing an interview.  Now every story is filled with optimism, and positive agendas even excusing all the mistakes, or not harping on them in the least from yesterday always quickly to return the story to the positive angle.

Very weird, and refreshing change, let’s see how long the Honeymoon from the Darnold pick lasts, but we all know this would not be the way the stories would be written the last week, or so if the Jets drafted any other of the 3 Mayfield, Allen, or Rosen it would have been same old poop flinging Jets stories all day every day.

Big positive changes on the horizon, and even the media knows it, great time to be a Jets fan!

Mehta pivoted very quickly. It's key to understand your audience as well.

This fan base is experiencing optimism relief, joy, excitement so to continue to troll would just show a serious lack of perception and instincts

Not even the media can knock this pick.  This is the best QB prospect we've had here in a long time, perhaps even going back to Namath, or at the very least pre-injury Pennington, and nobody can deny it.

Cimini might have to see a shrink without being able to spew his negativity.

If Darnold is not a better prospect than pre-injury Chad he was the wrong choice.  2000 was a weak QB crop and he was our 3rd pick. Pennington actually turned out better than expected.

Sometime in training camp a reporter will ask Dimitri Flowers how Darnold compares with Mayfield

See this is my point thou this would usually be agenda A. yet it has not happened, maybe the media only has access to draft picks, and not UDFA’s, and tryout players if that’s the case then yeah it will be first question at TC.  But if they have access to Flowers like they do the others then it’s something that would have been overblown already, and if they have access to Flowers now then it just proves my observation more that they are all in on the positivity of Darnold.

Seems a fair question. I would expect something like, "Man, that dude is a lot taller and let's his play do the talking."

Media Step 1:  Build Up, Hype, Place on Pedestal, Create Hope.

Media Step 2:  Tear down what you've raised up.

Media Step 3:  Profit.

Jets beat writer step 1:  Gauge pulse of all negative issues fan base takes liberties with, create negative issues for fan base at any cost.

Jets beat writer step 2:  Troll the sh*t out of the fan base with lingering, and newly created negativity rinse repeat profit.

Then Something happened in the last week, or so, that something Sam Darnold.  Jets beat writers gauged pulse, and realized it has immediately shifted to a positive driven fan base, and now troll the sh*t out of everything, and anything positive Sam Darnold related profit.  Win, Win, Win for all parties included.

Yeah, sure.  We'll see how long this "win/win" lasts, lol.

The jets organization deserves all the negative it gets from fans media etc.  If they want a different reaction, start winning.

This times a bazillion. They want positive, win some god damned games, its that simple.

I was saying Rosen and Mayfield and there is no way to knock this pick. He was the overwhelming top prospect with many front offices. And I think the OP brings up a good point that I didn't have the foresight to see. The media can **** with a team and player ...and fans psychologically. The optimist is great. Hope it lasts.

This is how a beat writer serves the fans. See it, talk to people, report it, throw some meat to the masses. The young shwanks could learn a lesson from this dude.

It's very literally the easiest, great job in the world. Somehow the main guys that cover our team can't do it right

Bingo. Rather than complain about the beat Writers, frustration should be directed at the losers on 1 jets drive over the years.

It’s a new day on Jetsland.

His rookie year Peyton went 3-13 and holds the record at 28 for he most ints by a rookie QB in nfl history.

make a pact with yourself to let Darnold stumble and lets stand by this kid nomatter what for at least 2.5 seasons

I saw the title 'Jets beat writers' and allowed myself a momentary fantasy of the Jets players beating the snot out of Mehta and Cimini in the press room, then duct taping them to the wall.

It was a nice moment.

It’s nearly always like this right after the draft. The beat Writers just start throwing bombs when the Jets invariably look putrid. Classic case of shooting the messenger with the hate around here.
