15k out of 65k  in an open air stadium seems pretty sensible.

I know some are aghast by this, but the reality is that by the time there are games we will have seen beaches, parks, games at other sports venues having been played and we will see what the effect on the spread looks like 14-28 etc.. days later.

If we open beaches and parks and there is zero uptick, or the numbers drop to near zero there is no reason they can't do something like this.

People need to remember that while we ramp up the tests we will likely have a drop in cases which means we will have an excess of testing available for precautionary reasons.

And of course, those that are compromised or just extra careful can just stay home if they choose. There may never be a vaccine.

I mentioned this in the other thread I started. the nfl has time to prepare, something the other major sports didn’t have.

Not only that, but the NFL lucked out in somehow falling into the sweet spot of the lockdown/quarantine situation.  The Super Bowl was on February 2nd, just as the coronavirus situation was beginning to be taken seriously.  They essentially ended their season a month before lockdowns started and will look to begin their season a few weeks/months after states begin to ease restrictions, essentially avoiding the entirety of the worst part of the situation.

In a truly horrible situation for the world, for many people and for the economy, the NFL may emerge virtually unscathed with only reduced in-stadium attendance while still garnering massive TV revenue, ad spending, etc. once games start.   And further, they dramatically reduced Draft costs this year by not paying for a huge event, stages, production, security, entertainment, etc. in Las Vegas while seeing a 37% increase in Draft viewership.

The NFL is turning out to be as fortuitous as toilet paper manufacturers last month!

I recently retired to Florida and actually went to the Jets game last year. The stadium was full, its the NFL, moneymaker.  In 2019, the average attendance at home games of the Miami Dolphins was 63,067. I then actually went up to see the Jets play the Raiders at Metlife, a 34-3 win...loved it even though it was cold and dreary.

do they get many more fans than that unless the jets are playing there?
