Airline work...Covid sped it up a year and half but I was in a good place financially so took my ball and went home.

I am the same age too.  Wasn't ready to retire, but feeling completely burnt out, I decided to take a big step back last year.  I am no longer running a department. I am not the one that is getting the urgent calls on weekends, evenings, holidays, etc.  At this stage in my life, I am much happier as a second in command than running a department. 

I am only two months in, but it seems like the best move I ever made.

Hear you...  I stopped working Fridays about 5 years ago, made a big difference.  Last year I left the office at around noon on Thursdays and this year I have dismissed a number of clients. All that is helping but I simply hear people say "Dont retire, you'll be bored" etc.. I have enough saved I can retire but I think I'll go to 62 working 3 days a week.  Then out.  I can sell my business for near 7 figures which is of course a nice push.

My childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds; pretty standard really.
