KRL
If you listen closely he destroys Gase offense and scheme: https://www.newyorkjets.com/video/greg-van-roten-offseason-program-has-been-really-valuable-for-this-team
RedBeardedSavage
Here's the YouTube version as well - And I agree with OP, some shade thrown at Gase with "seven step drops", "complicated progressions". Sounds like a good dude, but GVR needs to play better. I want to like him after this interview - but I can't forget Chase Winovich destroying you week 17. 3

Yes, you are correct. he went to Chaminade with my cousin. tweeted out a pic of him as a kid dressed as a Jet for halloween and how this was like a dream come true for him. really rooting for this guy.
jeremy2020
Everything is so different. These types of players come to the jets because of Saleh now!

Popular Post jetspenguin
"You hire Saleh and you feel like that weight has lifted" "Ridiculous progressions" "and hope has come back into your building" I think he makes it clear how he felt about Gase last year. I was a little eh on him before this interview, kinda like the guy now. Routing for him actually. If he plays well, he is the key to this line being highly effective this year. The fact that they are bonding, like each other, the culture is clearly better and a lot of the internal and external drama from last year is almost starting to make me a little optimistic about this year. I know the media think we will suck monkey balls this year but we played a few playoff teams really hard last year with a shatty coach, a shatty qb and serious lack of talent. Fire shatty coach? Check Trade shatty qb? Check Sign a few good pieces on both sides of the ball and special teams? Check Draft a few studs? I think I can name a few rooks that are definite upgrades. We might have something here fellas. 6
The Crusher
not sure how much better but I expect the entire line to play better under this coaching staff. 1

choon328
Van Roten was actually pretty good in pass protection last year but he struggled in the run game. For what's its worth PFF has him as the 26th rated Guard entering the 2021 season. 26. GREG VAN ROTEN, NEW YORK JETS Part of the overhaul on the New York Jets offensive line, Van Roten has been a consistently above-average pass-blocker in the NFL, even if his run blocking has been less than ideal on a similarly consistent basis. In his first season with the Jets, he allowed 24 total pressures from 13 games of action.

He also explains how difficult it was last year with no off season due to Covid. Saying first game was first live snap with the guy next to him. Takes time to build chemistry and the line was all new last year. Should be better this year just because of preseason.

AFJF
Really rooting for GVR. Had a rough start to the season but got much better as the year went on.

Same here (especially since he's an Islander fan). But I think Feeney and Lewis provide a bit more pop in the running game.
Claymation
Still laughing at the "ridiculous progression", Sam didn't stand a chance with Adam coaching this team.
GreenReaper
Besides Roten being all gas...no gase. He also comes across as someone confident that under LaFleur's wide zone scheme, he and the OL will be much better this year. Hope he's right and GVR plays well. ZW and those weapons will benefit big time if both the right side, as well as the left side of the OL, play much better this year. Since JD only drafted AVT, and made minor additions in FA. He's expecting good OL play this year too.
