Rhg1084
No way they’re trading Mims. He’s a key depth piece and could possibly replace CD next year as a starter. 1

I don't smoke. But on that day, I will buy and light up a cigar. If he fails to prove he’s worthy of a spot on the roster and is traded for a pick, I’ll light up. If he proves himself worthy, allows the team to dump Davis a year later, saving money in the process I’ll light up. In the second scenario that cigar will taste much better and probably be a Cuban 4
TheClashFan
Anyone know Mims's contract situation? Do the Jets have a 4th year option for him that they have to make a decision on before the season starts, or is he already locked in for a 4th year? Just wondering...that might affect whether or not JD is hoping to trade Mims or not.

Hal N of Provo
Mims should put his head down and work. There is an opening for him if he can get open and catch the ball.

Pauline’s mouthpiece was one of the two guys that got fired. The problem that occurred when he gave that scoop to Pauline was that the second guy didn’t know he was gonna get exposed as “deep throat” and, subsequently, shown the door as well. Since that all went down, Pauline has been about as wrong as anyone could be when it comes to the Jets. The guy was saying that we offered a “godfather” deal to the 49ers for Deebo and that there was a 70% chance that Deebo was going to be a Jet before the draft this year.
choon328
There's no room on the roster for a 5th WR who doesn't play special teams. 2
SickJetFan
My bet is the Jets are not the only team with WR that could be traded. With all the big WR moving this off season + draft sure that moved someone down the list on other teams too.

But I also view his time on the edge last year as 'necessity' due to injuries that didn't really pan out. Could Moore become a dominant Z receiver? Maybe, but he already IS a dominant slot WR. Or will be very soon. Plus Moore's pretty short for an outside Z WR winning jump balls on the sidelines. With Corey and Garrett on the outside, I really don't see tons of reps for Moore out there. Plus Mims crying for his Z reps (if we keep him). Moore is a good football player who can play anywhere, but it comes down to where is he BEST at. For whether it could be done at his height, I give you Steve Smith and Tyler Lockett…both of whom are Moore’s height…I’m sure there are more…
Alka
23 hours ago, BCJet said: Connor Hughes reported that Mim's agent is visiting the Jets and there are rumors of him looking for a trade. Obviously its just rumors, but if you look at it objectively, even if Mims has an A+, dominant pre-season and training camp, he basically cannot get higher on the depth chart then 5th WR. Moore, Wilson, Davis, and Berrios are all entrenched ahead of him through either talent, contract or skill set. Regardless of his past 2 seasons, Mims does have talent and seems to be having a good camp, so if a trade is requested what could JD be looking at in return? (side note, I do not think we will trade him within our division). The easy suggestion isn Tevin Jenkins - they are both second round picks, who are struggling with their current teams. The Bears also need WR help and we need a swing tackle but Jenkins is apparently getting poor reviews for attitude and maturity in chicago and that is not the type of player that JD looks for. Jessie Bates is holding out and plays a position we need, but Cincy has a ton of WRs so I dont think Mims they would want to include Mims in a package for Bates (in addition to a high pick that we would need to give up) Baltimore needs WR help and JD has a relationship there, but I dont think they have DT, OT or S to spare so im not sure what we would want from them other then a future pick Green Bay could use a WR and their system is similar to what we run and there is obviously a relationship there - they do have some young OL that could be part of a swap but I dont know much about their young guys. The Texans need help everywhere and Mims played in Texas, plus they have multiple firsts from the Watson deal, so maybe they cough up a 4th for a young player. I know most of the board doesnt like Mims, but to me he is too physically talented to give up on without getting something solid in return, especially if he is working on special teams, has a good attitude and is under contract (which he obv is). If Davis were to go down, Mims is the perfect replacement for that role and could allow us to let go of Davis after this season, save some cap space and still have someone to fill the "big target" role on offense I would like the Jets to keep Mims, but if he really wanted out, and JD was so inclined, I would take a 3rd round pick for him. I don't believe you will get equal value from a trade, and I don't like the idea of getting a 2nd round player who isn't playing up to their potential. Lot K Tailgaters
The Jets would be foolish to get rid of Mims. Davis and Moore both missed multiple games last year with injuries. What is to say we don’t have 1-2 WRs get injured this season.
More Cowbell
This seems to be a whole lot made about nothing. Mims will be on the team. They aren't trading him. The OP wrote every WR ahead of Mims is entrenched. Really? Wilson hasn't played a down, Davis is the biggest "?" On the team in my opinion, bigger than Mims. Moore has a spot as sort of a Swiss army knife. Can play inside or outside, Berrios is a return specialist who can play some WR. I mean Berrios isn't going to a Pro Bowl as a WR. Mims for all his potential has been nothing but potential. Is this the year he puts it together? Some how I doubt it but we will see. The thing is, he is going to be on the team.
Lurker89
I still like Mims. Hasn't worked out. First really good camp I can remember seems to be a shame to cut bait but I can't blame anyone if we do.
