Not everyone is like you, dude.  To each his own.  I would never be caught dead playing that game...but so what if others like it?  Lily and her family play it.  It brings them together and gets them outside.  Maybe they're not a family that played sports or did outdoorsy stuff.  That's life.  Some people arent wired that way.  If this provides them an opportunity to get outside their comfort zone and do things they wouldnt normally do and they're enjoying, good for them.

You and I might look at like it's stupid but whatever, who cares.  I have 40k+ posts on a internet message board.  I dont have facebook, tweeter, instantgram (which have literally ruined lives) and all that other stupid sh*t people spend a ridiculous amount of time doing...but how can I judge them?  I talk to strangers on the internet all day.  Whatever floats your boat.

I agree to each his own, but when you have IDIOTS crashing cars and (I've personally witnessed twice now) idiots RUN into the street and nearly get KILLED by Manhattan traffic because they are so engaged in a game that I find childish, it's absolutely pathetic. All the worse when you have "adults" who are playing a kid's game randomly wandering around like possessed morons in NYC. Maybe in suburban FLA, Ohio, or Oklahoma, but this game WILL get someone KILLED in NYC due to carelessness and, MOST infuriating to me as a NYer, complete OBLIVIOUSNESS to one's surroundings.

This occurred in Missouri:

  • Four people were arrested after they used the game to lure players to remote places and then rob them at gunpoint. In response, the makers of Pokemon Go have said people should "play with friends when going to new or unfamiliar places" and "remember to be safe and alert at all times".

Between this f*cking K-2 epidemic in Brooklyn and PokemonGo in Manhattan, you have a bunch of blind morons who are zombies walking around the city literally IN THE WAY of people who have ACTUAL REAL $hit to do that CONTRIBUTES to society; not capitulating all their personal data & $$$$ to Nintendo.

It's a serious annoyance in NYC.

Hell, Boeing had to BAN it because its employees wouldn't be working.

Oh and here's ANOTHER doozy!

Pokemon Go: Sex offender caught playing game with child

A registered child sex offender has been arrested after being caught playing Pokemon Go with a minor near a courthouse in the US state of Indiana.

Randy Zuick was put on the sex offenders list in April after pleading guilty to molesting a child.

The terms of his probation specify that he avoid contact with children.

Zuick was spotted by a probation officer based at the courthouse in Greenfield, who alerted police. He will face a judge later today.

"The probation officers who knew him were the ones who saw him doing that and so it seems that it was a little bit surprising that he would be so bold to violate his probation terms on a courthouse lawn," Hancock county prosecutor Brent Eaton told WTHR news.

Media in Greenfield have reported that the Pokestop on the lawn outside the Hancock County courthouse had become a popular spot for Pokemon players.

If it is decided the incident violates the terms of his probation, the judge could revoke the arrangements and send Zuick to prison for up to three years.

'Deeply troubling'

Zuick was arrested on the day that the UK's NSPCC urged the game's creators to update it to limit the ways that adults could use it to target children.

The NSPCC said it was "deeply troubling" that the app's creators had ignored warnings and child safety concerns.

Game maker Niantic and the Pokemon Company said they took player safety seriously and "encouraged" people to be "safe and alert" at all times.

Computer security firms have also issued warnings to people about the growing interest in the game from cyber thieves.

RiskIQ said it had now seen more than 215 separate Pokemon Go-themed apps pop up on app stores. So far, it said, only one of the programs was actively malicious but others could do harm in other ways.

"Approximately half of these unofficial apps are requesting broad permissions from users, risking data exposure via mobile devices," said Ben Harknett from RiskIQ.

One fake version found by Eset seems to disappear after being installed but instead lurks in the background on a phone, generating clicks on pornography sites to help an ad-fraud campaign.

Security firm Symantec said many cyber thieves were creating "trojanised" versions of the Pokemon Go game.

"If the malicious version of the app is installed, it displays the Pokemon Go start screen, making users assume that nothing is amiss," said Symantec researcher Candid Wueest in a blogpost. "However, the threat gives the attacker complete access to the phone."

Mr Wueest said it had also spotted other criminals running scams purportedly offering people a quick way to get hold of PokeCoins, the game's virtual currency.

Many well-established survey scam sites had also rebranded to tempt Pokemon players, he said.

Yes, I am one of those Bosses.

'Pokemon GO' is Disrupting to Buisness and Bosses are Not Having It.

The millennial generation is often criticized for having a short attention span, and the below image, which surfaced online Friday, appears to show one employer’s reaction to employees who’d rather become Pokémon masters than focus on their jobs. We don’t know if it’s real but the message still applies:

People have also been walking into businesses that are designated Pokéstops. Some business owners, annoyed that people are simply standing inside their buildings trying to capture Pokémon, have hung up physical signs or taken to Facebook, including the Northern Territory Police, Fire and Emergency Services, who posted this message on July 6, ending with this friendly note: “Stay safe and catch ‘em all!”

As the police point out, you don’t need to enter buildings that are Pokstops in order to use them. (Pokéstops still work by just walking right in front of the building or from a close distance.)

At the same time, remember that Pokémon is a game and if you lose your job, you will not be able to pay your cell phone bill which means no more Pokémon. And we would not want that to happen.

And finally, if a business is savvy enough to know and hang a sign about Pokémon GO at this early stage, at least buy something. User 8bit from video game forum NeoGAF posted the below image, apparently shot at a Dairy Queen somewhere: “POKEMON ARE FOR PAYING CUSTOMERS ONLY.”

I'll admit, there are idiots and weirdos (read dangerous criminals) who are playing this game. But taking away the game won't make them smarter or safer. There are also people who play safely and smart, like my family.

I play pokemon go.  I'm 28 years old.  I grew up playing it.  We also used to play ball, ride bikes, race and do all the stuff most did outside at that time.  It's definitely different now.  I was the last of our kind because I don't see any kids playing outside nowadays.  Ver rarely.  They all have ps4's by the age of 8 now.

I was just saying the other day to a friend of mine...Remember the days when you used to have to steal your fathers magazines to look at naked woman?  My dad used to have the black box on top of his cable box to get the spice channel back in the day.  It's so easy now.  If you have a cell phone its instant access.

I'm pretty sure on the scale of societal lows, this is now where near as low as the crazy sh*t we've been dealing with as a country lately.

Florida teens, mistaken for thieves, shot at playing Pokemon Go

Two teenagers playing Pokemon Go late at night in their car in Florida were shot at by a householder who mistook them for burglars, police say.

The man said he shot at their car after they refused to stop when he challenged them on Saturday. They were not hurt.

He said that earlier he had heard the pair say "did you get anything"?

Police in Florida have used the incident as an opportunity to issue guidelines for teenagers and parents on safely playing the game.

Police say they received a call from the parents of one of the teenagers when it was noticed later that bullets had caused a flat tyre, News4jax reported.

The parent said the teenagers did not realise they were being shot at, and thought that the man was only trying to scare them.

The guidelines issues by the Flagler County Sheriff's Office include best practice tips for Pokemon Go players. They advise players to:

  • Be alert at all times and stay aware of their surroundings
  • Not to drive, ride a bike or skateboard while playing
  • Not to trespass, or go on to private property while playing
  • Be aware of "Pokestops" where players could fall victim to crime

The sheriff's office also advises parents of Pokemon Go players to:

  • Talk to their children about strangers and set limits on where they can go
  • Be aware of third-party software apps claiming to enhance the gaming experience - because many allow access to sensitive personal data

According to data from SimilarWeb, people are now spending more time playing Pokemon Go than they are on Snapchat, Instagram and WhatsApp.

The game has also been installed on more Android smartphones in the US than the dating app Tinder.

Seems like there are two camps on this one: On the one hand, everyone is playing a free, fun game that promotes exploring, exercise, and meeting new people. On the other, this is yet another thing for cynical people on the Internet to complain about. And I gotta say I can see both points here.

Well, she got potentially got an ACTUAL gig out of it:

How One Millennial Got A Book Deal & A Job From Being Obsessed With Pokémon Go

With the Pokémon Go hype cycle burning as intense and brightly as Tamagotchis and pogs, the question on everybody's mind has been, "Hey, how do I make some real money off this?" There have been a couple small-time hustles and some other more questionable concepts, but so far it seems that millennial hero Ivy St Ive's idea of tossing up a Craigslist ad and going viral has been the most effective. St Ive, who got famous by offering her services as a Pokémon trainer, announced today that she's getting paid to help write a Pokémon Go strategy guide and will be a coach with a VC cash-backed gaming coaching website. Go ahead, pour another slug of whisky. We'll wait.

071615trainer.jpg
(Courtesy Ivy St Ive)
While St Ive's foray into into TOS-violating DIY Pokémon monetizing was cut short almost immediately, it got her onto the radar of both a major strategy guide publishing company and Gamer Sensei, a website that employs gaming coaches and sounds like a modern version of the 1-900 Nintendo Power tips line. St Ive said that the book company, which she declined to identify yet, reached out to her in the midst of her viral fame and was so eager for her services that they sent a rep all the way to her apartment in Bushwick at 7:30 in the morning to hammer out a deal. St Ive said that her job will be to teach people at the company how to play the game like an expert, and she'll also be writing a couple of sections of it.

As for her coaching gig, St Ive said that it will be similar to her original Craigslist offer, but she'll be virtually coaching people on how to play the game, instead of just walking around playing it for people.

Is this Michael Jordan-esque un-retirement and step up into the world of book publishing and VC cash a sellout move? St Ive made the case that it wasn't.

"I’m essentially doing the same service without breaking the terms of service, without actually cheating at the game, and it's just a lot less sketchy," she told us. St Ive compared being a Pokemon trainer with cat sitting, which she did for a time and also brought her into contact with strangers. But the key difference was that cat-sitting meant meeting at most four people per day, which the demand for her services as a Pokémon trainer outpaced. "The volume of responses made any sort of Craigslist type-underground training impossible for me to do."

St Ive also wanted to stress that she hadn't made any money from this just yet, with the strategy guide so far unpublished and a coffee meeting to hash out the Gamer Sensei deal set for next week.

And of course, it's not all book publisher groveling. St Ive also offered us a look into the hyper-competitive world she's currently a part of. "There are people who are spending 6 hours a day playing this game and really being power players and people who are already at level 18, 19 even in my neighborhood alone," she said. Yes, you read that correctly: level 19. That is NOT a typo. Go catch your shinebox.

As to whether becoming the world's first certified Pokémon coach makes St Ive a millennial hero, she can't quite say. "I’m just a girl who posted something on Craigslist as a joke. It went viral. And now I’m going to ride the wave."

Try NOT to fap off on these images. :lol:

So.  My 7 year old son and I go out all the time.  We hit golf balls together, I take him to skating practice (he wants to play for the NY Rangers one day), take him to Tae Kwon Do (He should be testing for his next belt soon), take him to the Science Center, the Zoo, various parks, bike riding, soccer, swimming, play catch with him, go to baseball games, etc.  He wanted to play Pokémon.  I have taken him to different parks several times and incredible things have happened.  Among the things that have happened in a short period of time are:

  • We stumbled upon a doe and her fawn at one park.  My wife and I would have never been in a park with him at that time in the evening, but we took him because he wanted to play.
  • We have met HUNDREDS of adults and teenagers who are stopping to have awesome discussions with my little guy.  Not a single negative interaction.
  • We discovered cool features and monuments in different parks that we already frequent since we are exploring more and not just going there for a single purpose.
  • He never wanted to go fishing with me for some reason, we stumbled across a few people off a pier in a nearby park and after talking with them he wants to go fishing with me now.
  • We have walked for hours discussing all sorts of things.  This is a child I spend a ridiculous amount of time with, but normally when we are doing things the conversation focuses on whatever we are doing, sports or superheroes.  Now the conversation goes well beyond the norm.
  • We found a Psyduck in a pond next to an actual duck.  To a 7 year old boy that is hysterical.
  • He is learning about the city we live in at a young age.  Learning things about it that a majority of adults who live here have no clue about.

So basically what I am saying is that if this is a societal low than we live in an amazing world.  People are outside and being social.  As long as they pay attention to their surroundings (which the game says on its splash screen), then I see absolutely nothing wrong with this game.

Nice post thanks for sharing man.  This sounds like a great time and very reasonable for a Dad and his 7 year old son.  I see bunch of twenty somethings running around doing it and it just seems strange.  I mean my 17 year old daughter and 18 and 20 year old sons ran around Saturday looking for them and I just find it a peculiar behavior.  They invited me but I decided to hang out and pursue Mrs Crusher since everyone left. So I guess it does have upside.

Lol this is yet another case of guys on the internet who probably dont have overly attractive wives or gfs bashing a young cutie just because she doesnt fit into that typical barbie doll type look that society pushes.

To me she is cute. Young. Skinny. Wacky. Elf like cute.

Im sure if you were drinking with your buddies poolside on a vacation and she strolled by in a little bikini the cinversation wouldnpause for a second, she would be checked out and sexual commentary would ensue.

You know im right. I always see it like it is my fellow faggots
