thats a bunch of horse shyt

actually it's not...  only the dreamers thought Macc would actually stake his job and reputation on 2 QB's with a combined 14 quarters of game play.  They weren't exactly solid quarters either.

Josh McCown's 1-year deal with Jets is worth $6 million fully guaranteed. Also has $2M in playtime incentives, $5M in team-based incentives.

$2M in playtime incentives – McCown gets $125K for each game he plays 50% of the snaps in. $5M in team incentives: playoffs, SB, SB win.

Once again the Jets sign a QB with 1 foot out of the NFL and 1 foot on a banana peel buts its all good.

So instead its mccown that he will stake his job on?

do you not see flaw in your logic? At least the other two could be evaluated

Compared to Cutler, this is the non-controversial option that allows the Jets to stay out of the papers.  Quietly go 1-15/2-14 with the existing QBs on the roster.  Then draft a franchise QB next year, hopefully Darnold or maybe Rosen.

Whether or not this is the plan, it's what I want to happen.

He can defend signing a vet and having that vet fail miserably.  You need look no further than our rubix cube savant.

Somewhat expensive, suggests they signed him to start.  6 mil plus potentially 7 more in incentives.    The fitzpatrick deal total.   Guess he starts the season and modway through it, Hack or someone else takes over.

How much is guaranteed?  6 M is fringe starter/backup money.  See Hoyer/Foles deals. That's where we are. And that's why it's only 1 year. We got off easy.  I wish the GM had the balls to tell the media and the fans that we were happy with the kids we got and wanted to give them the opportunity to develop and we'd keep tabs on available emergency QBs as needed while bringing in camp arms, but with this fanbase with these tabloids and we'd be crucified for that.

Nobody signs a Josh McCown to start. There will be an "open competition" but it will be totally rigged.

Bonus thought...If there is no guaranteed dollars then we can just let him spend all offseason with us learning the system, then cut his ass week 4 in preseason and have him on speed dial.

didnt they say maccagnan isnt high on any of the quarterbacks, he goes best player available .

When you draft 6 in a draft where all the prospects from 2-20 are all about even, what's the BPA .  This team needs a Franchise QB, and unless the Jets are 100% sure about Hackenberg, Trubisky or Watson is the pick . Everyone says these 2 kids need to sit behind a vet and learn, well the Jets just signed the BPA for that job . The player who should start to worry is Petty, because the Jets are going to give him every opportunity to start the season. If he can't, it goes to McCown until the new recruit is ready .

Trubisky and Watson aren't right out of the box ready to start. Don't want what happened to the Rams and Goff to happen here

Knowing Macc, we'll hold 4 on the roster again.

I've defending this dude, but Macc has just put himself on the sh*t-list.

You should really get over this Glennon thing. The Jets made him an offer, and he chose another lover .

COMPLETELY DISAGREE.

This moves says he wants the kids to battle it out for #1 and McCown is emergency #3. They all crap the bed, Jets get a Top pick in a QB rich draft in 2018. Jets take BPA NON-QB in 2017.

Playtime Bonus tells you he's NOT the starter. QB Pups will fight it out.

It's a solid HEDGE.

Very true....most reports do say that Trubinsky and Watson are 1 year away from being NFL ready. Thats why I feel if GMs are smart....those 2 QBs should fall to NO and ARI
