MINI DRAFT TRACKER::: AND THE JETS SELECT...

1.1 Isakk Aaitui, NT, Miami Dolphins.

Analysis: With Brian Hoyer still on the board, the Jets surprise everybody and nab another Samoan nose tackle to go along with the three nose tackles already on the roster. Aaitui was raised on papaya, so he's country/inbred strong.

Mel's take: "Hoyer doesn't fit the Jets scheme, because he throws forward passes. Aaitui really fits Rex's scheme, because f*ck offense."

2:1: Clyde Gates, WR, Miami Dolphins

Analysis: Lots of speed in Gates' game, which meshes well with the Jets' short passing attack. Likely will give BKRIL Joe McKnight some competition for his role as Best Kick Returner In League.

Mel's take: Another good pick here, Gates has explosive speed. We all know how key having a great 40-yard dash time is to getting drafted by Mike Tannenbaum.

Former #49ers TE Konrad Reuland has been claimed off waivers by the Jets, per source.

I know nothing of the guy

Konrad Reuland, a pass-catching specialist claimed off waivers from the 49ers, reeled in nine balls for 73 yeards this preseason. His rawness as a blocker made him a casualty at final cuts the last two years. Because if it's one thing you can never have enough of, it's TEs who can't block. Stock pile those non-blocking tight ends, they go quick boys.

Suspect most of these guys suck balls. But if you're gonna take a flier on a guy in the mini draft this is not about development but filling a need. So far the Jets have instead refilled spots that if not strong are at least filled with similar bodies as the draftees/waiver pickups. A nonblocking TE and a big Samoan interior DL guys are stuff they actually have. What do I know? This is the best Jets team Rex Ryan has ever assembled. Now he isn't merely indifferent to offense, he doesn't bother to watch it.

Tom: as much as I loathe you as a human being, props are well deserved for this one. :winking0001:

I'm pretty bummed with the way these last two days are going. Cutting, Ganaway, White and Allen shows us why Tanny having late rd picks is simply irrelevant. It's sad to me that we are cutting guys with potential and that have been on our team for a little bit to go into the season with scrubs from the dolphins etc. I

Cutting Dixon is also something I don't understand. MTV? I get him, but Dixon has played well. I'm leaning more and more toward the side of tanny being clueless.

Tanny doesn't make this DL move without Rex's blessing, if not insistence.
