Yeah, and he has zero this year, zero the year before that and two the year before that. Calvin Johnson had 12 and had only 5 the year before that.

Your turn.

Not his fault Pittsburgh took 2 years to utilize his skills.  Cotchery also got a TD in last years playoff game so that's 11 in one season.

what you are going to say:  it doesn't matter because the Jets won't make the playoffs.  Touche, GL, touche.

Yeah it's amazing that they didn't figure it out sooner based on him catching 2,2,3,5 and 2 the previous five years. What were they looking at???

Obviously Tomlin is not the coach Cowher was before him.  Look at that team being so mediocre the past few years now that it's no longer Cowher's team with Tomlin coaching.

Cotchery will light things up in Carolina

Decker left practice today with tightness in the hamstring, Nelson still out.  WRs for Sunday could be Kerley, Salas, Powell, Graham & Owusu.

Rex: Eric Decker felt tightness in hamstring & was pulled from practice.

Going into San Diego with these dudes?  No problem.  Geno's got this.

David Nelson is expected to miss Week 5 with a "severe low ankle sprain."

The Jets will turn to a three-receiver set of Eric Decker, Jeremy Kerley, and Greg Salas. Nelson never had fantasy football value in the first place.

Eric Decker (hamstring) was limited in Wednesday's practice.

Decker made it through Sunday's loss without any setbacks, playing on 55-of-68 snaps. The Jets are limiting him early in the week, but his status isn't in danger for Week 5. Decker will be a WR2 against the Chargers.

Idzik you blew the draft now what?  How can anyone expect Geno Smith to be successful?

I maintain our problem is not people to catch the ball.

Decker, Kerley, Salas, Cumberland, Ammaro, Ivory, Powell, Johnson, with a good QB, would be very productive through the air.

The problem is the QB.  You could trot the leagues best three WR's out there, and we'd be no better off than we are now, with a QB who can't hit them consistently vs. any decent coverage, and would will throw 1-2 INT and 1-2 Fumbles a game.

Same problem with had with Sanchez.

Eventually folks'll realize it's not "everybody else on the team and working for the franchise"......it's Rex or it's Geno.

5 is a productive amount of TDs for a WR, especially one who is not the #1 WR.

Let's see-team has problems scoring in red zone, Cotchery had 11 TD catches last year and 30 for his career-yeah I wish we had him right about now.

Crusher, it was time for Hill to go, but I would seriously rather have him then some of the guys we have now.  I don't even know who some of them are

HIll burned his bridges and they probably only hung on until final cuts in the hopes they could get a conditional pick.  Gates was also cut on final cut down day, with Ford going the week prior.  The team is obviously looking to get some pieces that they can develop, picking up other teams practice squad and waiver guys.  A guy like Gates could probably help more this week than Graham or Owusu, but they are rightfully looking to the future.  Going to be another rough week with Decker dinged and Nelson out.

Yeah, he did burn his bridges, what a dope.   You could see it coming when he started trading insults with a fan during camp.  Never a good sign.

As far as the future goes odds on neither Graham or Owusu are on the team next year.  For that matter Kerley is a FA, good thing we drafted Saunders to replace him

I understand the point that Geno is not a Top 5 QB but lets not deny the obvious that with some more weapons OR even an above average WR corps he would be doing better.

We need WRs, DBs, a LG, and for the love of God a punter and PR.

Punter? Thats your worry? Outside of one punt of 38 yards with no return, Quigley was a savior and has done a decent job. Trust me, punter is the least of our worries.

Or, hey, maybe a healthy Eric Decker? Nahhhhhhhh.

With Decker here, Cotch would be a possession receiver, #2, and would replace Nelson not Decker.  If Decker can go anything like full speed against San Diego, Salas showed last game that maybe he can be productive in the #2 WR spot.  He's made some plays, and that's what Geno needs in receivers right now-maybe Salas is the missing piece of the puzzle after all.

How about this:  if Mr.Idzik is so supremely confident in his abilites, and is not some chimpmunk toothed low down snake in the grass, why not agree to a one on one interview with Serby? In which it would be agreed, beforehand, that his purpose would be to defend the accusation that he and his owner are not NFL frauds?

Hate to say this, but the conspiracy theory is beginning to appear more and more likely.  But would Idzik actually be so Machiavellian with his first and possibly only chance to be an NFL GM?

Machiavelian?  You do understand that this is a New York Jets fan site right?

you mean GM

there are maybe 3 teams that are just flat out loaded with talent.  every other roster has gaping holes and patch work jags.  the jets main problem is discipline, accountability and fundamentals.   and genover

they just never get better.  every week the press conference is the same.  gotta fix the penalties and mistakes. gotta clean it up

just look at the giants.  they improved week to week.  you could see it happening

never happens here

"Genover" - brilliant!

Mr. Blackout and I were discussing the ineptitude of the Jets in the red zone. I posited that if Decker were healthy, we'd be better off. He seemed to think that Cotchery was the answer and seemed to forget that we actually had a very good red zone receiver already. I reminded him.

Serby?  Is it 1982?  He is going to ask those hard hitting questions?  Admit it, you just want it to be Serby because you like the color cartoon that they put over his column.
