NFL bans on-field pyrotechnics after Titans’ fire incident

No playing with fire, at least temporarily.

The NFL banned all flame effects and pyrotechnics on its fields for at least the short term, as an ongoing investigation into a fire at the Titans’ Nissan Stadium in Week 2 continues.

A pre-game pyrotechnic machine caught fire on Sunday during the player introductions as the Titans celebrated retiring the jerseys of ex-players Eddie George and Steve McNair. Stadium staff quickly extinguished the machine, while the corner of the field was evacuated.

 

No one was hurt in the incident.

Teams can still use pyrotechnics away from the field, however, including the Vikings, who shoot off fireworks along the roof of US Bank Stadium will continue.

 

 

 

There is no timetable for the NFL’s investigation of the Titans’ flames, though its clear the team will have to find a new way to fire up the crowd.

There's a fire, you can see it. So what? 

You  will never be able to prove whether it was entirely  natural or premeditated.

There goes the pregame ceremony.  Now if they can ban annoying music and stupid product plugs, we are progressing towards a better in game experience.

Yep, in Montreal I believe.  Then Axl Rose refused to go on early for an extended GNR set (as they were scheduled to follow Metallica), leading to a fan riot.

Fireworks indoors or in an enclosed area never a good idea.

Yeah they were just down here, still put on a good show, but not the same without Ace.

Kiss was the best band to see live. The talent wasn't  really anything except for Paul Stanley  who was a great singer, the songs were ok but the live show was second to none.

Have you seen Kiss? The only shows I would put against it is Alice Cooper, Pink Floyd or Rush. Cold Play is good music but I'm not talking about the music, im talking about the show.

(By the way, the dachshund above trying to "retrieve a stick" that is actually a lit roman candle and terrorizing a campground is one of my all-time favorite gifs! lol)

In further news, the NFL also reminded teams that flying lawnmowers are prohibited from half-time activities.  Or is that just a special rule for the Jets?
