Giving QW some love, his sack prevented a sure 13-13 tie

Recommended Posts

I think part of the calculus was Macc hoping that he'd found what he thought he was getting with Leo originally.  Macc probably knew the Jets would try to trade Leo for a 2nd or 3rd rounder and not pay him, so the stars aligned (unfortunately) in his mind to get another Leo but with serious pass rush ability.  Unfortunately, he just got another Leo (with no better pass rush) so far.  We have to give Q another year where hopefully he learns, gets stronger and isn't hampered by injuries.  He's definitely not a bust but there's a good chance we have Leo 2.0 here and he could follow the same path of being a good player who isn't much of a difference-maker and that we try to trade before his last season.  Hope I'm wrong.

wow, we have entire threads dedicated to 1 unblocked sack.

I'm gonna go back to jerking off to bushy 70s porn. You let me know when QW shows up for real. I might have made it to the 80s by then.

pretty sure Jamal had a dedicated thread on how he won the Dallas game by coming thru the line unblocked to register a QB pressure on the 2 pts conversion attempt.

Lumme some bush.

What a cutie. I'd put my nose right in there.

I think my "broad brush" point regarding QW is clear enough...

Unless you have some sort of crystal ball (or even comments supporting your OPINION) I think we each have our opinions and neither can be proved.

That said, it's a forum and the negativity on this thread holds no persistent interest to me. So, you win!!

I have league-wide draft history, every Q. Williams scouting report, and the fact that he's about 40-50 pounds light for a 3-4 run stuffer, but yeah, these are both equally valid "opinions."  Definitely.

So Mac was doing calculus while the rest of us were doing basic math, no wonder why we didn’t understand his moves!

I'm in awe. thanks for letting me know who I was talking to.

PFF gives him a 69.1 grade. Should I tell them to scrap their system and go with yours?

if I may, it also matters who drafted him and the defense they drafted him to play vs. who is playing him now and how this guy is playing him, which is as part of a rotation of fatties, any of whom make plays on any given day.

What does PFF's grading system have to do with the fact that QW wasn't drafted to be a run stuffer?

QW is a DT we drafted highly after drafting failed ones after another after another while ignoring glaring holes. QW was drafted 3rd overall and is making a minimal impact relative to his draft position. QW is now being described by his supporters as someone who needs to mature physically in the hopes of becoming great, in other words a project. He has zero business being on this team. Zero. But that’s not his fault.

What QW is not right now? Great. He’s avg. We have a history in this, he will be a very good run stopper that is lucky to get 5 sacks per year.

Why does the future look bright? If i sold you this year 1 of QW last April 0/10000 fans would have said -- yea ok. lets take him. zero. none... now in the crosshairs of a wasted pick, who couldn't beat out a late rounder with a name no one can pronounce - the future looks bright?

Explain.

Opinions are like aholes, everyone has one.

and I'm asking for you to elaborate. You said - the future looks bright... but that's apparently based on visions you've had while spirit questing near joshua tree. I'm listening, my friend. Walk me through it.

My point is everyone does that. Why are there no threads pumping up Phillips, Foley, Mcclendon, or Shepard who have all been better than this can't miss prospect? He's been horrible for the third overall pick....just not on the level of Gholston bad.
If someone didn't follow the draft and it was mentioned that Phillips was the third overall selection instead of Q most casual fans wouldn't even notice. Some here might even call it a great pick.

Not a bad point and I get it.

The only thing I’ll add is that Q has more sacks then both of those guys. .
Tied for 3rd on the team he is.

Watching the BB and Saban doc:

Belicheck:  Who is you're best player?

Saban:  Jonah Williams and the Defensive Lineman.

Just sayin.'  Saban says he always tell the truth about his players' pro potential.

No love for Jonah and his glass shoulder?

NOT playing your game. If you want to be the negative Nancy fine. For me the glass is always half full.

I dunno dude. I heart you, and would give you a big xmas hug with a kiss on the cheek....

but i'll still ask why you say the future looks bright... it looks like he shouldn't have been 3rd pick in the draft is what it looks like. It looks like we should have listened to me and went with Allen, or Oliver if need be... it looks like, QW is gonna have to do a lot of work this offseason just to avoid the bust label.

So you can imagine my curiosity at such a curious remark.

I could almost write the script right now...toward the end of next year, when he’s not getting any penetration - with very few sacks - you’ll start to hear how he’s always double teamed and that’s why - and that him being double teamed is the reason the other guys are good.  Hence he’s great.
