The Incredible 2021 NFL Draft...

Recommended Posts

Trevor Lawrence was not in play for the Jets, and Zach Wilson was taken #2...

Even if Joe Douglas had just thrown a dart at a board with the names of the players taken from 3 - 13 on it (AVT was then taken #14)...

Solid starters, Big-time contributors, Pro-bowlers...

How did he manage to get it so wrong?...

1) Jacksonville Jaguars – Trevor Lawrence, QB, Clemson
2) New York Jets – Zach Wilson, QB, BYU
3) San Francisco 49ers (from HOU through MIA) – Trey Lance, QB, North Dakota State
4) Atlanta Falcons – Kyle Pitts, TE, Florida
5) Cincinnati Bengals – Ja’Marr Chase, WR, LSU
6) Miami Dolphins (from PHI) – Jaylen Waddle, WR, Alabama
7) Detroit Lions – Penei Sewell, OT, Oregon
? Carolina Panthers – Jaycee Horn, CB, South Carolina
9) Denver Broncos – Patrick Surtain II, CB, Alabama
10) Philadelphia Eagles (from DAL) – DeVonta Smith, WR, Alabama
11) Chicago Bears (from NYG) – Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State
12) Dallas Cowboys (from PHI through SF, MIA) – Micah Parsons, LB, Penn State
13) Los Angeles Chargers – Rashawn Slater, OT, Northwestern

I refuse to believe that Woody did not have something to do with this.  He definitely applied pressure to try and find a QB with a new rookie deal.  They convinced themselves that Wilson was better than Darnold.   Wilson is not better than Darnold.

It made sense at the time too bad we picked the wrong guy.

It’s not hindsight when you know it before the draft/pick happens. It was obvious for a team with so many holes and installing new systems.

There were rumors that the 9ers would draft Jones at 3. It’s because of the system, we just took Wilson because we were told that’s who we were supposed to take at that spot, fit be damned.

No QB should have been taken at 2. After screwing up the being the leaders of the TL race all year, they should have traded down and filled holes. Then bring in a vet QB to help install the offensive system and mentor the young offense. Oh well.

Yes keeping Darnold was the play that season.

So then you think he will be good in the future?

What’s the wager?

it depends if the Jets get an offensive mind with a CLUE

imagine relying on Mike LaFloor and Calabrese

Over the final seven weeks, Wilson ranked in the top half of NFL starters (min. 100 attempts) in total touchdowns and in the top five in fewest turnovers. He closed the season without an interception in 156 passing attempts, the longest rookie streak in franchise history and longest streak by a Jets QB since 2000.

Fields rushed for 1000 yards

Working with the likes of Dante Pettis and “Ihmir Smith-Marsette”, he threw for more TDs than ZW will over his entire career

Jets’ leading rusher was Breece Hall with under 500 yards

You are oddly missing his 11 ints and 16 fumbles this season hmmm
