As expected, the Jets have added an offensive tackle to the roster by adding another former Green Bay Packer in Dennis Kelly.  The 6′ 8” Kelly has made several stops in 10 year career, playing for the Eagles, Titans and Colts as well as the Packers.  Kelly has appeared in 130 pro games (54 starts).

Green Bay Packers tackled Dennis Kelly (79) provides pass protection from Houston Texans defensive end Jonathan Greenard (52) during their preseason game Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wis. The Houston Texans beat the Green Bay Packers 26-7.

From his time in Tennessee, Kelly is familiar with Jets offensive line coach Keith Carter.  The pair were with the Titans from 2018-2020.  Kelly started a career high sixteen games under Carter in 2020.

In need of tackle help after losing Alijah Vera-Tucker for the season, the Jets worked out former Cowboys and Bengals tackle La’El Collins yesterday and he’s visiting with the Giants today.

Is Dennis Kelly still in the NFL?

In the 2022 campaign, Kelly played with Indianapolis, playing in 16 games with three starts. Now, in a demonstration that the NFL is at times a full-circle business, Kelly is back with the team that used the 153rd overall selection in the 2012 NFL Draft on him.Jul 25, 2023

JD went into 2023 with the idea that his house of cards would remain standing. We went ALL in on starting QB with no thought put into QB2 if Rodgers went down. The same with OL. No thought put into legit tackle depth if one or both tackles went down. Billy Turner? Really? Was he depending on Carter Warren to be depth? He did a good job on securing the interior with drafting Tippmann and Schweitzer but a piss poor job with our tackles.
