ARodJetsFan
This is a low risk & potential high reward signing - I'm onboard. The NY Jets have signed San Antonio Brahmas guard Kohl Levao. The Jets dipped their toes into the UFL talent pool this week after signing one of the top offensive guards in the league. New York agreed to a deal with San Antonio Brahmas guard Kohl Levao, the UFL announced Tuesday. Levao helped lead the Brahmas to the inaugural UFL championship game. San Antonio fell to the Birmingham Stallions in the title game. The terms of Levao's contract were not immediately reported. Levao made the All-UFL team this past season. He was an eighth-round pick by the Brahmas in the XFL Draft before the XFL and USFL merged for the 2024 season. Levao, 26, played at Hawaii from 2018 to 2021. He stands at 6-foot-5, 324 pounds. The Jets have a pretty robust offensive line group heading into 2024, meaning Levao will have a tough fight this offseason to make the Jets' 53-man roster. John Simpson and Alijah Vera-Tucker at the starting guards, but the Jets have five other guards currently on the roster with Xavier Newman, Max Mitchell, Jake Hanson, Vitaliy Gurman and 2024 undrafted free agent Brady Latham. This is the Jets' first signing from the spring league. Other teams have grabbed top players from the UFL as well, including kicker Jake Bates (Lions) and running back Jacob Saylors (Giants). New York will see what they have in Levao this offseason when training camps kick off in July. And if he signed no one from the UFL you’d say you can’t believe he signed no one from that league to kick the tires on. Some of you just are negative about everything. Sounds like you’d be one of those guys that could win Powerball. And would complain about having to go to the state capital to collect. 3 1

ARodJetsFan
More information on the signing: According to James Larsen of Pro Football Newsroom, Levao is signing a three-year deal with a maximum value of $2.8 million. Larsen explained that Levao garnered “plenty of NFL interest” and held “multiple” contract offers from NFL teams. However, he signed with the Jets because they offered him a multiyear deal which ended up being, “the biggest contract for any UFL player so far this offseason.” Jets Are Kicking the Tires on a Worthy Prospect Levao was on a Brahmas team that went all the way to the UFL championship game this season. He has exclusively played the guard position over the last two years for the Brahmas. According to Pro Football Focus data, Levao has 955 career snaps at left guard and 317 snaps at right guard.

I'm trying to put your arguments together, but I am having a lot of trouble doing that. A GM looking to improve the roster by signing a guy from another football league to give him a shot at a position of need in depth somehow is linked to the fact that the Jets have not won a Super Bowl since 1969.....That's not even attempting to link the fact that JD was not the GM for 50 of those years.... I love this team with every ounce of my being and I truly think we have the best fanbase and most passionate one in football, but sometimes I sit back and think that the complete stupidity has to be an act because there is no way someone lacks this much intelligence...idk what to think anymore 1

I'm no expert @C Mart but if that's the case, I was not aware that UDFA's were given 3 year deals, as a standard contract. The article stated there were multiple teams interesated in Levao and the Jets were reported to be, the only team that offered him a multi-year contract.
