How can Edwards be suspended unless this is a second offense? NFL policy says first offense (drug and alcohol policy) results in mandatory drug and alcohol counseling. A second offense results in suspension. Now I think right before he became a Jets, Edwards pleaded guilting to hitting LeBron James' friend and paid the dude some money - but DUI and getting goosed for some dough are two different things.

Many law enforcement vehicles are equipped with a system that scans your license plate,either when the car passes you or you are behind it. So lets just say the over officer sees the vehicle is registered to BE and he notices tinted windows. He needs to stop him just because its BE.He then notices the smell of alcohol and he needs to do his job. The plate has already been called in,if he lets him go and 3 miles down the road he hits and kills someone the officer is doomed.No excuse for driving drunk. These guys are under the microscope 24/7/365 they should know better.

I don't need to carry this very far. There are many reasons the police could suspect the driver of the vehicle to be African-American without ever seeing him. If we get any pictures of Braylon's car, we'll have a better idea it provided them with any clues.

However, I'm confident there was enough artificial illumination to see thru the windshield at 5AM at 34th and 12th in NYC.

He was no doubt profiled. But not for being black. He was profiled for being in a high-crime area at 5AM in a Tinted Out Range Rover. If he was white, hispanic, chinese or Eskimo, he would have been just as drunk. Unless those white devil (since you assume the arresting officers couldn't be black) cops grabbed the first rich black man they could find, poured a half-gallon of booze down the poor guy's throat and then forced him to take the wheel.

In defense of the police, they have every reason to not like tinted windows. They stop a vehicle, and walk up from behind, they don't know if there's a weapon pointed at them or not. It's a dangerous situation.

That said, they should bust the shops the provide the illegal tint in the first place.

I'm a cop and I never understood the big deal about tints until I had to walk up to a dark tinted window at 3AM. It's an officer safety thing. Cops have been shot and killed because they couldn't see inside a car with armed passengers. As for NYC, though, It's also a huge source of revenue. I've read recent articles about municipalities pushing their police to write more tix in order to boost income. It's just an easy tax, really.

I had Pitch black tint on my 98 mustang and i watched a cop in seaside heights take a key and scratch the tint. The gash in the tint got worse everytime i rolled the window up/down. When i flipped out on this cop for tearing my tint he said, "proove it."
