He's not wrong...

he's been right about most things concerning the jets......yet everyone keeps calling him a stupid drunk who is no longer relevent

+1, but lets continue the Manning hype around here, so when he doesn't pick the Jets we can blame Namath for being a drunk and not supporting the Jets.

Not only is Namath right yet again, but if it's true that the Jets are seriously interested in Manning, than Woody, Tanny, and Rex have all shown, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that they have no ******* idea how to build a winning football franchise.

For serious. Count me in with the anti-Namaths..

Namath is the man. But he needs shut up. He's not helping the situation, even if he is right. And the locker room is solved the second Manning rolls in this bitch. The problems all related to Sanchez. He ******* sucks and his diva WRs got pissy. The fact he's not a leader, the second it happens, bye bye locker room. Manning will make that place look like a phish show, peace, love and happiness.

Bringing this down to Jacksonville for our meet and great. LOL

Perfect. Dude, I can totally set up the baddest tailgate party and have some hippie jam band come play so CTM could noodle his life away before going to watch the Jets. He'd be the life of the party. Do they have it in green and white?

+1 everyone looks at this like it's a game of Madden. Ask yourself why would Peyton Manning want the Jets? he's not a Jets fan. He actually kinda had a chance to be a Jet in 1997 and told Parcells to go scratch.

That's not what happened. Fat Tuna wouldn't guarantee Archie he would use the #1 overall pick on Peyton so Archie told Peyton to stay in school.

What Archie wants, Archie gets.

Yeah, Joe really should shut up about the Jets and football.

So he transformed the way the game is played, transformed QB play and technique, brought about the transformation of the NFL into it's modern form and has been completely right about the things he said about the Jets lately. But that doesn't mean Jets fans have to actually listen to him.

Here's one for ya... your hero Namath, he sucked worse than Sanchez.

So a guy who is from Louisiana, played in Tennessee, spent his entire professional career in Indianapolis is a fan of any other professional franchise?

this is splitting hairs. either way Peyton didn't want the Jets. For Tuna to not guaruntee that, was in retrospect, another terrible Tuna draft decisions. Great coach. Terrible GM.

Its not splitting hairs if the point was that he wanted to be number one overall. Team wasn't the concern necessarily.

Total BS

He was only going to come out early if Parcells would commit to not trading the pick. He wanted to play for the Jets and Parcells

Peyton could have declared and if he did, he knew the Jets had the #1 pick. How bad the the Tuna **** up the 1997 draft? screwed up getting Peyton, Pace and Walter Jones. For Farrior.

side note the Rams could screw up 2012 in the same fashion by trading down. Pass up RG3, Kalil for Relly Reiff?

it was a negotiation in which Peyton didn't want to engage. If the Jets were his dream team he would have declared, whether they assured him being #1 or not... it clearly wasn't his dream situation, can we agree on that?

No we cant because thats not what happened. Peyton wanted to go No. 1 overall. Parcells wouldnt guantee that so Peyton ran the risk of sliding or being traded. The dream team talk is dumb. The Colts werent his dream team either, but he got to be No. 1 that he wanted.

Forgetting the fact that Holmes is a psycho, he's still probably the fourth best receiver on the teams that Manning has been tied to. Fitzgerald and Andre Johnson are on another planet, and you can flip a coin as to who is more appealing to Manning between Marshall and Holmes. Even if you wanted to include San Fran with Vernon Davis, Holmes is still probably the low man on the totem pole as far as receiving options go.

NO

I think the "Parcells screwed us out of Manning" thing is overstated, especially after reading the article that was posted in this thread where Archie basically said the topic of Peyton-to-the-Jets never explicitly came up. Archie wants stability in ownership first and foremost, which is why he refused to let Eli play for Spano (who is a huge a$$hole, along with AJ Smith) out in San Diego. In 1997, Leon Hess was practically a vegetable and the Jets were effectively on the auction block. And, Parcells brings a lot of things to an organization, but stability has never been one of them. This isn't to say that Bill shouldn't have run to Archie on bended knee and begged him for the chance to draft Peyton, but it doesn't sound like there was ever this 11th-hour Archie Manning ultimatum for a commitment to which Parcells replied that he could go eat a dick. The fact that Parcells never fellated the Mannings was likely the 50th factor in Peyton's decision to run back to Tennessee.

Yes, that's why he's in the Hall Of Fame. Boy he really stunk the place up.

Of course, if you never saw how football was played in that era and just look at modern day statistics when most of the passes travel four yards and are caught near or behind the line of scrimmage, then you might get some distorted ideas of what the QB's were worth back then.

WTF is he a fan of the team or trying to make it worse. And as far as the locker room as soon as Manning steps into the problems are over. LT I can care what he says he's meaningless to the Jets franchise but Joe should know better. I've really lost a lot of respect for him in the last few years. He needs to get off his soap box and crawl into a hole.

Seriously... How many of these "locker room issues" weren't in some way based around the QB being sh*t?
