punishment for bringing in suckchez

That is probably the reason...Lurie and Kelly have got to be fuming that he signed the turnover machine who took over a team at 6-2 and fighting for HFA and pretty much singlehandedly pissed away their playoff chance altogether

He bombed? I don't remember hearing anything like that. 2 years ago he was our top choice, everyone had a boner for the guy, now he's a loser?

Hey, ever wonder why he went from frontrunner to dud overnight?  Here's your evidence:

Niners director of player personnel Tom Gamble, believed to have been the front-runner entering the interviewing phase, didn’t dazzle Jets brass during his interview last week, according to a source. Gamble, who interviewed with the Chargers earlier this week, reportedly is on the Chiefs’ radar as well.

Gamble, after failing to get a GM job, gets fired after 2 years on the job with Philly.  We screwed up by hiring Idzik, but us passing on Gamble is a decision that was just vindicated today.

Based on you saying so, it must be true.

No.  Based on the NFL saying so by none of the 32 teams hiring him as a GM 2 years ago (even though he was a hot name at the time), and the Eagles saying so today by firing him from a lesser position.  It's not all that complicated.

If you want another Idzik, Gamble sounds like your guy.

It was a push.

Agreed.  But am I taking crazy pills to suggest we should be only focusing on candidates who are doing well at their jobs rather than one who just got fired at a less-than-GM position?

It'd be like looking to hire a HC who just got fired as an Offensive Coordinator.

gamble isn't a bean counter like idzik was.  gamble's been a director of pro personnel.  idzik was a cap guy.
