Sounds like a perfect guy to run the ship. Hey, can we bring back Tannenbaum as his # 2 in charge while we're at it? And extend Bradway for forever? I don't remember hearing anything like that. 2 years ago he was our top choice, everyone had a boner for the guy, now he's a loser? Hey, ever wonder why he went from frontrunner to dud overnight? Here's your evidence: http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/jets/army-candidates-lined-ny-jets-general-manager-job-article-1.1237188 Niners director of player personnel Tom Gamble, believed to have been the front-runner entering the interviewing phase, didn’t dazzle Jets brass during his interview last week, according to a source. Gamble, who interviewed with the Chargers earlier this week, reportedly is on the Chiefs’ radar as well. Gamble, after failing to get a GM job, gets fired after 2 years on the job with Philly. We screwed up by hiring Idzik, but us passing on Gamble is a decision that was just vindicated today.

heymangold
Because Manish has always been such a great writer and has never made anything up.... Not saying Gamble should be the guy, but looking at the rosters he's complied with the 9ers and the Eagles, I sure wouldn't mind having one of those teams. C Mart
Covers Eagles @Jeff_McLane: Howie 1, Chip 0. @Jeff_McLane: The #Eagles' balance of power over player acquisition shifts back to Howie Roseman. Chip Kelly was given last offseason and team regressed. @Jeff_McLane: My column 2 days ago on Chip Kelly basically calling Howie Roseman a cap guy while calling Tom Gamble a football guy: http://t.co/sSl5c05TA5

Jetsfan80
Based on you saying so, it must be true. No. Based on the NFL saying so by none of the 32 teams hiring him as a GM 2 years ago (even though he was a hot name at the time), and the Eagles saying so today by firing him from a lesser position. It's not all that complicated. If you want another Idzik, Gamble sounds like your guy.

Jetsfan80
It was a push. Agreed. But am I taking crazy pills to suggest we should be only focusing on candidates who are doing well at their jobs rather than one who just got fired at a less-than-GM position? It'd be like looking to hire a HC who just got fired as an Offensive Coordinator.

UnitedWhofans
Suspicious that just outright fired him. Also worried that San Diego passed on him also that year when they interviewed him. He might be a football guy but nobody wants him, apparently.
Dinamite
Worthy to note that there were a few GM openings besides the jets that year and he didn't get those jobs either. Neither did he get Miami or Tampa last year. Can't blame Woody on this.
