Mac just doesnt understand how this works....

How on earth do we let McCoy fall to the mid second without trading up?  I understand if the colts were holding us hostage for pick 34 and wanted a 2020 1st which is insane, but as the second round unfolds, and GB grabs Jenkins you have to make the move with Seattle to pick 47 and get McCoy.  We pick 4th in the 3rd round, pick 68.  The price to go from 68 to 47 CANNOT stop you from getting a center who was projected to go in round 1/early 2 and is a huge need for your team.

Mac just doesnt understand the risk-reward in moving up or down.  This is going to be a move that really haunts this team

But how are we supposed to draft the next Parry Nickerson, Folorunso Fatukasi, Trenton Cannon, Ardarius Stewart, Chad Hansen, Jordan Leggett, Dylan Donahue, Elijah McGuire, Jeremy Clark, Derrick Jones, Christian Hackenberg, Juston Burris, Charon Peake, Devin Smith, Lorenzo Mauldin, Bryce Petty, Jarvis Harrison, or Deon Simon if we trade away all of our valuable day two and three picks?

You guys just don't get this whole draft thing. Leave it to the pros like Maccagnan.

The legion of mac defenders come running.

Fail to sign a pass rusher in FA

Fail to sign a  center in FA

However, it is all a league wide conspiracy against the jets and none of it is macs fault.

Nobody is defending Macc so that’s bull.  However some overreact about everything he does or doesn’t do.  Hell there were guys on here last night that we’re praying he was killed.  I mean that’s ....a bit too much

No but be realisitc do you want to give up next yrs picks to move up and put us in the same boat as in this yr. If there is no interest in the offers the Jets have the table what do you want to do? This is not Madden where you can force trades

You make it easy to defend.

I hate Macc but

He signed best def and off FA and a wr that can catch.

Centers can be signed in the 3rd round for better value

One been one round and he got a great player. Unless you have some evidence he turned down some picks package including 1 this year and next, I'm glad he stayed put.

Just cause he did good job so far in FA and then in round 1, doesn't mean he and his scouts are worth a damn

I hate macc

With all due respect i'm not  fan of Mike Maccagnan but he has nothing to trade and needs as many players as he can get out of this draft.

We aren't in this round because we have Sam Darnold and I will take that any day of the week.

Give it a rest.

Amen.

It REALLY sucks to be bored in round 2, so i get the frustration but we got Darnold.

You cant give up next years picks for this year. Thats like a fat slob who trying to diet and instead decides he will eat a pizza and go to the gym tomorrow instead of eating a bowl of wretched cottage cheese and working out today

every team should trade with the Jets, on the Jets terms, when the Jets say they want to trade.

5 teams managed to trade up in the second? 6? Not sure, there were a bunch, though.....

So after saying for a month they want to trade back (and failing), Mac then goes on TV and SPECIFICALLY STATES he wants to get back into the second....and fails.

So, is Mac lying constantly? Some form of pointless "gamesmanship"?

Or is he unable to make deals?

Or do teams just not bother dealing with him? (Unless they fleece him and laugh about it later...)

Because right off the bat, 2 teams traded up to the top of the 2nd....and Mac failed to do what he said was his intent.

So, which of those reasons is the truth? It really doesn't matter, though, because regardless of the reason, all the man does is fail.

Why are people acting like we’re completely boned?

Quinnen wasn’t the exciting pick, but there’s a good chance you’re getting a disruptive, pro-bowl level interior DL for a decade. Right up there with Bosa as the best prospect in the draft according to pretty much everyone.

There are still guys like McGovern, Winovich, Ferguson, Metcalf, Deiter, J. Love, etc on the board and we won’t have to give up anything to obtain one of them.

We have nothing to give. We spent it on a legit QB last year. Get over it.

As soon as our 3rd round pick comes up then we're done with being behind the 8-ball from the Darnold trade.  As others have pointed out, Darnold is/was worth the shot so let's stop complaining.  What's far more important is Macc hitting on these 2 3rd rounders.  We BADLY need a good draft.

Really?

Ok, im just whining - will  you be whining when we start jonathon harrison at center next year.

Im not making some outrageous claim that we should have given to 3s to get to 34.  The board fell to the point where it was mid second, and we hold the 4th pick in the 3rd round.  We couldn't make that work with our later picks or our later picks and a player like lee?

Its not unreasonable to say we should have moved up for a valuable player at a position of enormous need.

In NO way am I complaining about what we gave up for Darnold, it was an excellent trade.

All im saying is that every pick that went by with McCoy on the board, it made it easier for us to fill a need and we didnt.

Remember when we "tried to move up for Tunsil, but didnt do it" or all the chatter about moving down last night or up today before the round started.  Its a pattern.

Again it takes two teams to trade.  Most likely they were demanding a 2nd next year or both 3rds and a 4th

Darnold is worth more than 10 second round picks, much less this one.

Bunch of whiners.

He's had 4 prior drafts to hit on 3rd rounders.

How many has he hit on?

What were you willing to give up? It would be very costly for a gamble.

Exactly.

We got the number 1 player at a position we haven’t had for decades and boo hoo we don’t have a second round pick.

So myopic.

Then why did the man go to the media last night and tell them how important it was to move back into the second round? Hmmm.

Why not say, "We used this years second for our FQB, and don't want to mortgage any further draft capital, so unless certain things unfold or something happens that forces us to reevaluate, we'll let the draft come to us. We feel like were in a great position for tonight".

LOL.
