I apologize to everyone on JN for my Trevor Lawrence post's; is there any room left on the Justin Fields/Zach Wilson bandwagon?

I’m basing this off of what I have sat here and poured hours into watching. “Twitchy”? What does that even mean in regards to going through progressions. I’ve heard of players being a twitchy athlete....that’s about it.

now man up and take me up on my bet if you’re so sure Wilson will be a late first rounder.

Put up or shut up.

What’s the bet?

It’s back to the old, “the prom Queen as gone”, so let’s talk up the fat chicks.

I have zero confidence that any of these second tier QB’s are any good, or we pick the best from that bunch. Hell a month ago no one had ever heard of Wilson.

I trade down a few spots, personally back to the Bengals, they want Sowell bad.

Wilson has more arm talent and decision making in one finger than Fields does in his whole body. the frame questions are typical couch GM/amateur scout mumbo jumbo that would of mattered 20 years ago when prototypical size for QB’s mattered — even then the kid is 6’3 and can easily reach 215 and widen his frame in one offseason program. This talk about his “frame” is laughable. Okay, let that be the reason a GM doesn’t pick a QB he likes. Instant axe.

“Oh we didn’t want to pick Wilson because he’s a little too thin for us. He has tremendous traits, decision making, arm talent & athleticism but he was just a little too skinny.”
see how that goes over with the owner

You’re a good poster and I know you are responding to DWC’s act, but even you don’t seriously believe the gap between Wilson and Fields is that big, do you?

And a month ago people were asking if Fields should go before Lawrence. There will be other elite QBs in this draft.

While in the meantime I've down talked and questioned the idea of other QBs (all because I was 100% convinced Trevor Lawrence would become a Jet).

I was wrong.

Any room left on the Justin Fields and/or Zach Wilson bandwagon for me to join?

Because if so, I'd love to see Justin Fields destroy Clemson while out performing Trevor Lawrence while going onto beating Alabama and winning himself a National Championship Title.

Right now I'm in favor of Penei Sewell but it would become pretty damn exciting for me (heading into the draft) if Justin Fields can absolutely explode vs Clemson & Alabama.

Sell me Fields and Zach fans. Sell me.

Lol these second tier QBs are first tier any other year. Also, people rise up draft boards. Just because you don’t know something doesn’t mean others don’t or that evaluation can’t change

I do. I hate Justin Field’s processing ability. His internal clock is so slow. He’ll sit there with the ball for hours until he finds the throw he’s sure he wants to make. His mechanics are sketchy at times and I get turned off by OSU made QB’s. I think he has some really encouraging skills and he can play fast when he’s on but when he’s even the slightest bit confused, he mentally lapses often. He doesn’t see things that he would of seen a game ago. Idk. I do think he’s a good prospect everything considered but something really throws me off about him. He has the chance to win me over in the playoffs though.

The best approach in my opinion, and this goes for all of us, is to not mentally marry ourselves to anyone.  Be it Sewell, Wilson, Fields, etc.  We will all have some favorites, guys like we like and those we hate, but man does it become exhausting when someone joins himself at the hip to a draft prospect. (I think @Paradis still carries around a photo of Austin Seferian-Jenkins in his wallet. :P )

Let's allow the process to play out, allow Douglas to do what he was hired to do.  I've questioned JD a bit mostly because of his approach to the WR position in the offseason and draft, and some misses (thus far, although it's early) in the middle rounds of the Draft.  But JD is our guy, we have to trust him and he looks like he nailed Rounds 1 and 2 last year.  So if he looks at ALL of Fields, Wilson, Trask, Lance and Jones....and says no thank you, then we have to trust him.

This is shaping up a lot like 2018 again.  Several 1st round caliber QBs but not a ton of consensus or accuracy about how to order these guys (outside of Lawrence) similar to how analysts disagreed about ordering Baker, Darnold, Rosen, Lamar and Allen in 2018.

It's going to be an interesting 4 months around here, that's for sure!

Great post! Couldnt agree more??

Ok can I come back and chat when they don’t pan out? - We blow more then the top pick, with these meaningless wins. We will be taking a 2/3rd tier coach to.

The top candidates can chose from Coaching Lawrence, Watson, Herbert.
The Jets will be at least 4th in the picking order. I can’t  wait for this place to lose it’s sh*t when it’s Marvin Lewis, Bill O’Brian and the like.

Don't forget you may already have a quality QB on your roster now that I'm a big fan of.

Capt, Morgan...time will tell.

I was thinking of this the other day. JD selected him in the 4th and has kept him hidden away. Part of me thinks JD's thinking Sam, mid-level vet QB & Morgan to start camp in a winner take all extravaganza.

If Trask or Mac Jones are still there in the 3rd, he takes one of them to groom like Morgan.

I just think JD plans on building the roster first. If someone steps up.... GREAT!

The problem with another mid round "project" QB is that there just arent enough quality reps to go around. How many QBs can we carry? You take a QB in the 3rd or 4th round, he probably isn't safe on the practice squad. I'm not opposed to getting a QB this year, I have faith in JD in whatever route he wants to go but Imo I dont see another mid round "maybe he develops" QB is a possibility. If JD gets a QB, I would think it has to be a first round prospect

Sure will you leave and not come back if they do? I’m not asking you not to nor am I saying they will pan out. They are however very good prospects. They have high upsides equal to any top 5 QB prospects in any draft.

As long as JD builds a good roster, we’ll get a coach. Why would a coach turn down the 2nd overall pick, $90 million to spend and a GM connected in multiple organizations?

I give @Defense Wins Championships credit for not responding to the cheap shots people are taking at him in this thread.

Yeah man all I can do is ignore them while I laugh at them.

I'll tell you what. Our Trevor Lawrence fans were much nicer than 90% of these Fields/Wilson pricks; I no longer want to associate with their wagon any longer and will be rooting for Fields to flop on his face vs. Clemson in order to avoid him like the black plague.

I think I'll stay in support of Penei Sewell (who I've claimed for months on end is the #2 player and would be #1 overall if not for Trevor) who's a generational LT in pass protection and the highest rated O-Linenan to declare since dating back to Orlando Pace of 23 years ago (1997); in other words he's hands down deserving of the #2 overall pick while overrated QBs in Fields/Zach, aren't.

and I'll remember these Fields/Wilson pricks when my Jets draft Sewell while telling them to go follow Fields/Wilson to their respected teams ??

Penei-Sewell.jpg.491713125fd4f787c13732ca96fc8350.jpg

QB: Sam Darnold.

LT: Penei Sewell (#2 overall).

LG: Joe Thuney (FA).

RT: Mekhi Becton.

WR 1: Allen Robinson (FA).

Slot: Rondale Moore (2nd round).

WR 2: Denzel Mims.

WR 4: Jamison Crowder.

RB: Najee Harris (Seattle pick of the 1st).

Or switch Thuney with Brandon Scherff @ LG, Moore with Terrace Mathis Jr, Najee with Etienne and/or Allen Robinson with JuJu Smith Schuster/Chris Godwin etc

Something along these lines and JD has both the salary cap space and draft capital needed in order to make it happen; while surrounding our QB position with an A+ O-Line and A+ weapons at both WR/RB.

Because the more I think about it (after missing out on Lawrence) the more I realize that Sam Darnold has never had a CHANCE @ QB with the Jets after being drafted #3 overall and has been setup to fail (just look at Baker Mayfield last week without his WRs; he looked like dog crap under Darnold circumstances).

I'd like to give this kid A+ weapons before absolutely quitting on him.

And what's the worst that can happen?

Sam doesn't flourish?

Well then we'll already have a KC Chiefs type of offense built in place for 2022's draft (with two first round picks) in order to draft a Rookie QB 1st round into an offense that's ready to win (giving the Rookie a fighting chance).

I've always wanted Penei Sewell over Fields/Zach.

He's hands down the #1 rated O-Lineman to declare since dating back to Orlando Pace of 23 years ago who we traded away from (1997).

I tried to open up my mind to Fields/Wilson but it isn't happening.

And after Sam has been setup to fail while being drafted 3rd overall I'm anxious to see JD build an awesome offense around the kid (Baker looked like crap without talented WRs too).

And @ the very worst Sam flops and we'll have two 1st round picks come 2022's draft in order to draft a rookie QB into an A+ KC Chiefs type of situation.

Why stop at one? I'm a poly-End enthusiast. Run that 12 personnel package deep down their throats.

And it starts with Kyle Pitts. Trade back and draft this man - and you'll see me featured on porn hub within the hour.

Don’t hate him at all. I think he’s a great kid.

But, I don’t want to listen for the next 20 years about how we dropped the ball AGAIN on a QB.

First the Marino debacle.

Then Manning staying in school and spurning us.

Not drafting Brady when one of our scouts was begging Parcells to.

Most likely ruining Darnold for good.

Now missing out on Lawrence.

Nothing against him...I hope he lived a rich amazing safe and healthy life. I just hope he sucks in the league from Day 1 to his last snap.

Or as a consolation prize. We develop into an absolute juggernaut that always destroys a Trevor Lawrence team, a la Belichick vs. Manning.
