What Was Darnold's #1 Shortcoming/Flaw?

Recommended Posts

Sam Darnold shows no emotion nothing he nonchalantly walks on and off the field good or bad.

Team has time left on the clock where most QB's chomp at the bit to make something happen he gives you nothing.

He continues to make the same mistakes over and over.

The excuse of watching film and fixing it is over.

Time to move on from Sam Darnold.

What exactly does Anderson bring to an offense? Was it his two catch game for twenty one yards or was it his three touchdowns for the entire season?

Well, apparently with a decent QB he brings:

92 Receptions for 1,100 Yards and 3 Touchdowns for a year.

Everyone has said it: field vision, reading defense, calm under duress, etc...

He has to know when to take a shot downfield with 1 on 1, when to check down, when to throw it away.

Couple little details that piss me off:

1. His play action fakes fool nobody, work on it for god sakes

2. He bails on a pocket when he should step up into it. This is huge and I see a lot of young qbs do it. You kill half your options when you scramble out of the pocket if you don’t need to.

3. Stop running out of bounds behind the line of scrimmage

oh and...COACHING, GM, OWNERSHIP, FRANCHISE, OL, WRs, RBs, etc. don't count.

In HIS game and ONLY his game, what is the issue?

This would be a great SNL sketch.

So Sam, you were drafted by the Jets who have been a horrible team since the 70's, they got you no WR's, no RB's, made you play behind an OL that didn't pass block, and in 3 years you played for 2 really bad HC's with one possibly being the worst the franchise ever hired, but what do you think the real problem was?

OMG,

I mean, how many people say one of the most important qualities of a FRANCHISE QB is to elevate the game of others.

He hasn't. He's gotten worse as the talent has gotten better around him.

He was our leading receiver, and has more catches and yards than mims and perriman combined this season.

But yes, keep pretending he isnt good.

What a sad outcome for the organization. He wasn't perfect coming out of school but this kid has all the traits and a great attitude and rather than improve his game we've reinforced the issues that did exist in his game. The regression this season is awful.

The decision to hire Gase was just absolutely catastrophic and misguided. The stats they shared today on the broadcast that we ran the least play action and (I think) third least pre snap motion in the league are just brutal considering our dedicating our whole offense to running Gore up the middle...
