See what I mean? The idea that Rodgers is going to actually hit receivers that are open in stride doesn't even occur to this fan base. It happens. Just watch.

A little longer session today, building upon day No. 1’s length of time.
—Still not full pads (shells and thump).
—Defense is ahead of the offense, which should never shock or cause concern for anybody (it’s July, the natural order of things when an offense is installing a new system). 
—Another uneventful day for Aaron Rodgers. DBs played well against him, yet the opportunity wasn’t there for him. He’s much more concerned with following the process of installing this offense, step by step, which means crawling before walking, walking before running. Simplistic concepts are all that’s being showcased at the moment.
—Tony Adams was the star of the day. Jets love the kid, and they need a center-fielder with serious range to play alongside Whitehead. Adams appropriately moved through reads, once driving down on a secondary read to take it away from Rodgers (no attempt). He also recovered nicely against Hardman deep, to make a one-handed desperation PD (not sure how MH shook loose; not sure if it was on TA to begin with: perhaps it was). 
—Amos also had a decent day, and while he could play alongside Whitehead, it’s not ideal. Not enough range. Interestingly, if there’s a unit that could withstand less range from the single-high, it’s the Jets, who come equipped with Sauce and Reed (deep-thirds, excellent bail tech, etc.). But it’s certainly not optimal. 
—Zach Wilson was up and down again. One mental error resulted in a false start (cadence error, as the snap was called in shuffle as on more than “one.”); but he also rebounded quickly after that mental error. Another good sign is that he’s actively looking to climb the pocket when the opportunity presents itself (something he’s struggled with live in game. Normally, he instead freezes, stares down the rush, and tries to escape the long way). 
—RB Dye was noticeable, hauling in several grabs (some designed, some not). 
—WR Irv Charles found himself banged up in the end zone on a quick shot. Not sure of his status.
—EDGE McDonald began the day in the rehab area. 
—I didn’t see the boot on JBC’s foot, as opposed to yesterday. And speaking of FS, B-Converse is the wild card on this roster, the only other potential range guy who could raise some eyebrows next to Adams. 
—Keith Carter is as fiery a football coach as could possibly be. It’s a stark contrast to Benton. 
—Sauce, DJ, and MC2 continue to be workmanlike and dominant as a trio. 
—Much more of a Hard Knocks presence today as opposed to yesterday. (That could simply be perception as opposed to reality, not sure.) 
—Mo Wilkerson was on hand today. 
—Bam vs. Izzy will be interesting this summer. 
—Still no Duane Brown and Uzomah. No Breece still, of course. 
—It felt like Conklin was mixed more into team sessions today. 
—Many of the sessions featured FB Bawden today, which makes sense when installing a new offense; starting more elementary in nature will be the strategy. Where he fits into this roster, in terms of FB packages (AR and Hackett) is interesting. 
—One play saw JFM get awfully close to AR’s feet, but Mitchell seemed to recover in time, with JFM hitting the floor hard. Not sure if Bawden helped in that spot, but Bawden and JFM chatted it up a bit after that one (nothing fiery, instead it was more passive, perhaps even apologetic in nature). 
—Becton and Turner are still rotating.

If roster spots were based on strictly merit, Zach Wilson wouldn’t make the team.

McDonald is an old rookie, he’s already 24. Much like Johnson and Clemons last year. He wasn’t brought in to develop, he was brought in to play. Those guys both saw action on defense with 27% of available snaps as well as plenty of special teams. It’s safe to assume that as long as McDonald is demonstrating that he can play in practice, he will see action when it counts.

Yes but remember covid impacted a number of draft classes. 
 

He isn’t a pushover in the run game, but I agree he’s going to get in the game 3rd and 5 or more to start probably and they will give him more and more.

It’s getting very close to that unfortunately.  After the reset and the off-season he’s bouncing passes and forgetting the snap count. I think he gets 2 games to win the job.

Overall, Wright possesses an unofficial Relative Athletic Score (RAS) of just 1.37 out of 10. For context, only two receivers drafted in 2023 had RAS marks under the median five. They were Patriots sixth-round pick Kayshon Boutte (4.99) and Chargers fourth-round pick Derius Davis (4.29).

As such, that may make it hard for Wright to get drafted, especially considering that his all-important 3-cone time of 7.81 seconds is among the worst-known times recorded, per the official RAS site.

Still, it remains possible that Wright will be selected given his solid size and production during his time at Purdue. It just doesn't seem overly likely given his athletic profile.

Yep.  Nobody selected in the supplemental this year.  There was some talk that Wright could be picked before he had that disastrous work out.  Could have been dinged.  Maybe just unprepared and pro day numbers are historically inaccurate, so who knows.?  Tall possession guy without much speed.   Had some big games. Below plus 98+TD vs. Ohio State.  Glad they didn't pick him in the supplemental, but certainly worth a try-out.  Find out if he is actually that slow.

This. Good post. As we improve as a team and start drafting near or at the end of every round, it will become imperative for JoeD to fine 'diamonds in the rough' to keep this show going.
