Todd Downing PRESS CONFERENCE - taking over play-calling duties | SNY

Recommended Posts

It really seems like a lightbulb went off where the Jets (JD?, Woody?) all of a sudden  realized that success is more closely correlated to having competent people in charge as opposed to who kisses the most ass.  Hackett and Saleh are classic examples of being promoted and maintaining employment less on ability and results and more on superficial factors such as relationships and appearance.  Not sure what triggered this change of heart, but I believe this team will look very different come Sunday night.

First play is going to be a WR screen, passed back to AR8 who hits Mike Williams for a 75 yard TD

Get some

It would be a miracle if Aaron Rodgers throws it more than 4 yards down the field.

Rodgers has not throw for 300 yards in a game since 2021.

Do you know how hard that is in this day and age?

Joe Flaccid has thrown for 300 yards in each of his last 6 starts.

Rodgers dink and dunk play is absolutely killing this offense.

That needs to change now!

Heard two stats today that are crazy.

1. Breece Hall leads all RBs in getting hit behind the LOS. Suggests the offense is telegraphing Breece runs.

2. Using player tracking data, Jets running plays have an expected yards-per-carry of a measly 3.7 yards. The blocking has been bad, but the scheme is also bad.

Hearkens back to Nate Tice’s point that Rodgers calling all the plays at the line has restricted the Jets run game, both from a formation perspective, but also in terms of variety of run plays because there’s obviously a limited amount of plays Rodgers can check to.

Saleh should have been let go after the collapse in 2022. Why it took this long still is puzzling.

Ha!  This is what nobody is talking about. Do we really think Downing is going to create a whole bunch of new plays they haven’t practiced and it’s going to make the offense magically play great?

The sequencing was atrocious no feel for the game

run run pass

its very possible the plays were fine
