jbt
Patriots acquired DE/OLB Barkevious Mingo from the Browns. The return compensation is unclear, but like many August trades, it's probably a conditional day-three pick. The No. 6 overall pick of the 2013 draft, Mingo has been a comprehensive bust, tallying seven career sacks, only two of which have come in the past two seasons. The Pats are low on edge depth, however, and Mingo was drafted by former Patriots associate Michael Lombardi in Cleveland. He'll start on special teams and fight for snaps on defense. Excellent point which is why the hate on guys like Mel Kiper make me laugh. GMs make on average 7 picks a year and they pick the guys they are most confident about and they still hit maybe 50 percent in the early rounds. Kiper doesn't have the luxury of knocking guys off his draft board he has to rate every reasonably draftable prospect. This stuff ain't easy. Again, "We have to lose at the end of the year to get a better draft pick!!!" Nah, just win, and enjoy it. Pats also have the #7 overall when they got Cooper. That draft, top 10, sucked. Edit, some of the linemen have been good, but still total crap shot.

Shadetree
Anyone ever read FREAKONOMICS? Theres a chapter about how people with "urban" names are less likely to get hired simply because of his or her name. Does a parent ever think about his or her child's future when they say,"it's beautiful, we'll name it Barkevious."?

It's staying employed that might be if he fails in his 2nd stop. And it'll be because he sucks at football, not his name. But yes, that naming impact does affect normal human beings! Ohio State NY Jets fan
MIngo is a Free agent at the end of the year so the pats* strategy will be to make him look decent so some team will sign him to a big contract worthy of a comp pick Jet should have let Tone and Maybin sign with other teams before they imploded (Thanks Tanny) Pace worked out well for a first round "bust", he was good for the Jets

They basically said the draft is a lottery, so they want to get as many tickets as possible.
