So Tampa would turn him down because he failed a physical but another team wouldn't ask for one?

I don't want to argue with you anymore since it's not going to happen, but that doesn't make sense.

Come on read your own point. So what if he fails now but can pass a physical in the next few months.

With this news out other teams know its was a failed physical and the compensation will be diluted. If they did not know this everyone would assume they could not come to terms of the deal and the JETS can get the best compensation they can get at the point of time when Revis is good to pass the physical!

Um, what would it matter if Revis can't pass a physical now?

First off, no one else is interested.  Second, anyone else who might suddenly decide they're interested would also insist on a physical, which Revis would fail.

And I doubt he's going to fail it anyway.

wait im confused did you edit your other posts?

cause you said it would help the jets resign revis if he doesnt pass his physical like a page ago

Trading Revis may or may not work out......

But it doesnt change the fact that this trade is being made because Woody Johnson is CHEAP.

CHEAP.

there is a salary cap minimum.  the GM is doing this so they can have cap space to go after a QB, pass rusher, RB and TE, all expensive players

Lets trade Revis and pay Cromartie/Sanchez a combined 20 million.

Awesomeeee baby.

The New York Post reports the No. 13 overall pick in this week's draft will be included in the Darrelle Revis-to-Tampa trade.

Jets beat writer Brian Costello suspects the other picks in the trade -- there's believed to be two more -- will fall in 2014. So the Bucs will be left with seven 2013 draft picks, beginning at No. 43. The Jets will have eight picks, including Nos. 9, 13, 39, 72, and 106 as GM John Idzik attempts to rebuild a roster that deteriorated in repulsively incredible fashion under ex-GM Mike Tannenbaum.

Cheap is the one thing you can't accuse Woody of being. Dude has handed out TONS of big contracts since getting here. Mawae, Martin, Revis, Pace, Brick, Sanchez, Faneca, Harris, Scott, etc...

3 picks, 1 this year and 2 next yeart is pretty decent, and good value considering the bucs were the only serious player (we know of) but the 2 picks next year will be the reason many people will say the jets lost

I would dsagree.  if the 2 2014 picks are before 4th round, it's a good deal, esp considering the jts could have come away with nothing

Someone really needs to write a history of the Jets entitled Repulsively Incredible.

But do the undead have any trade value?

Interesting, question.  We'd have to dive into the paradigmatic, zombie question: walker or runner?? (ruling out the extremely boring and pointless spell-induced zombies of Haitian and African lore that just roam around as catatonic, soul-less boobs. Total snooze-fest)

If we're talking the former, then sure, his trade value could take a hit; can't run, but his contract demands will be low as his only motivation is the flesh of another, which seems manageable. This may have some travel and logistical limitations as room and board may become an issue, but it seems benign enough to iron out.  Marketing goes up, team name change...it could work.

If he turns into the former, less-popular, but much more terrifying, Danny Boyle runner zombie, than I'm thinking his value goes up. Other than insurance premiums going up, i think it's all a win; Contract demands are low, pain threshold goes up, marketing is still as high as before...most importantly, cannot hold out.

Be it failed physical or zombie apocalypse, he's got teh value.

Well we will have a lotttttttttttttttttt of cap in 2014. No Q.B and no Prince of C.B's tieing up our cap. Holmes wont be hear and even Harris won't be earning stupid coin. Lets see how this guy Drafts.

If it's any thing like the Sea Hawks come next Aprisl the Jets will be looking very good. Just need to find that Q.B we've been looking for 40 Years since Broadway Left.

<3 when fans compare Revis to producers. Revis got Wally Pip'd by Cromartie, who has given us 90% of the results for half the cost. If the offense didn't completely ******* suck, we would have gone somewhere the last few years.

Hope Harris is next. Twice the contract of Willis, half the production. Get your Kleenex ready folks.

Wake up, people. Woody has always been cheap.

Never spent considerable money on the team until they got the new stadium.

Were the early 2000 Jets non-competitive? Last I checked, they were solid yet in free agency the Jets hardly made a move to improve the team.

How much has he spent in the past 2 offseasons after the new staidum deal was completed and the team had their 1st season there? None.

How many non-rookie head coaches has he hired? None.

Love ya EB, but you're dead wrong. Jets are always near the top in total salary, and tons (too many) of huge deals given out prior to PSL's.

He can fail it now and pass it later.  Every NFL team is not oblivious to this.  Failing a physical because it was taken too early doesn't mean no one is interested.  And if they were, they'd have been in the running with Tampa and we'd all know about it the same way we all knew about Tampa.

And again, there is no way on earth he takes a physical for Tampa, fails it, and it's kept secret.  Tampa is not going to owe us the favor of lying for us.

And it doesn't matter anyway because (a) he's not failing a physical, and (b) no one other than Tampa wanted to trade for him.  No one else was interested in giving up a 1st round pick and then also paying him like Mario Williams on top of that.  Tampa was interested and no one else was.

They are going to have to add more talent to this team before they try and adjust the Harris situation.  Too many holes before they get rid of a good player; even if he underperforms based on his compensation.

I usually like your posts, but wasn't this the same owner that handed out, at the time, the highest quarterback and running back contracts ever in a pretty narrow time-frame?  He may be a boob, but I don't think one could call him cheap; allowing others to spend his money poorly, now that's something I could get on board with.
