You said they don't reuse helmets......

They don't.

And when they get the new helmets in, before the season starts and for a new player brought in during the season, they come in with the stripes and without the logo decal.  I've seen it done.  They're put in by the equipment guy.  It was in a video when the helmets were handed out before the logo was applied and players were told that had to earn it.

This isnt a guess, this is the way its done.  For all teams.  You're guy with inside info is totally wrong

He's right, they were showing 'out with the old, we're never seeing these again" as a metaphor, not as a hint that they're keeping the white helmets.  Another total guess.  WIth or without an imagined well placed glance

Nice?  What are we hanging living room curtains or playing football?

Explain what Chris Johnson picking the new uniform has to do with playing football?  I get the idea but really, what does he do that he cant step away to go to Nike or wherever and to look at emails?  Most owners are active in their businesses etc, does that get in the way of winning games?

Just curious what you're thinking is with this since you keep saying it as if it affected the W/L record last year or any year

Riddell offers a helmet reconditioning service, takes 4 weeks to inspect and bring the helmet back up to new, certified condition.  It's on their website, they detail how the process is done including the removal all accessories, just like the Jets showed in their video, tagged just like the Jets showed in their video.  They are going back to Riddell for reconditioning:

https://www.riddell.com/reconditioning

Now, it says on there that Riddell will repaint a helmet during the reconditioning process.  So that sounds reasonable, right?  Yes!  They're painting them!  But ask yourself, if an NFL team were getting new helmets in an entirely new color why would they care about the $1,000 cost of 53 helmets which is a weekly lunch bill to a $3 billion dollar corporate enterprise?  Why not just get new helmets injection-molded in a green, black, or grey color instead of going through the trouble, and bleed-through, of over-painting a white helmet?

If the Jets are getting a new helmet color, they wouldn't be sending the old ones back for reconditioning.  They'd just get new ones.  I'm guessing in today's concussion-conscious world from a standpoint of player safety it's best to keep the geometry and break-in of the existing helmet as-is, thus the reason for the reconditioning, the safety pads and collision dome and such don't get deconstructed and re-installed that way, just buff up the whiteness and re-test, and that's that.

SAR I

Yeah because Riddell doesn't stock green paint.  And you couldnt paint a white helmet green.  Better yet, helmets arent painted white or green, theyre injected that color

And never mind that the team has probably 5 different helmets from 5 different manufacturers so shipping them all in one truck is also a clue that this whole idea is dead wrong.  If you still don't want to hear that NFL teams don't reuse helmets from one year to another as a whole.  Some players have but some, like Brady, had to give their up because of safety regs put in

I think 99% of us realized the helmet shipping video was a metaphor. However we have 1% here who don’t even know what a metaphor is, along with those who think Adams gave away the new color scheme when he tweeted the day he received a pair of sneakers. It’s a fools errand trying to reason with them. Best to sit back and laugh as they go back and forth amongst themselves.

Whats the funniest part of all of this is some think they know or someone else thats also guessing knows.  And want to blow others off for their opinions.

No one knows.  None of us.  I dont know how many times I've written that here and still have someone telling me how wrong I am.  Even though I clearly have said I have no F'n idea, just post what I would be ok with.

Why go through all this nonsense.  They're coming out in a few months and we'll all know.  As I keep saying, as long as the look good, as long as I would want to wear one, as long as it pushes me to buy a new one, I'm good.  If some nitwit wants to type 100 posts telling all that they know something from a tweet, or a logo they saw, from a video or from a glance they know meant and proved something, more power to them.

Doesn't make a difference with all the different self centered wish lists it will be like the HC hire.  Whoever did get what they wanted will more than likely scream from the rafters that this isnt the Jets, blah, blah, blah

I almost pray they come in with some color scheme completely different from green, a new logo, and some new colored helmet

Ok doofuses.

The Jets teaser video revealed the new green, here it is:

My prediction is that the two primary colors (and potentially only colors) will be that new green with black.

I think the secondary color is grey, and possibly blue as well. Look at the ties in the Gates press conference, especially Allens. He is wearing the colors and a shirt in the blue-grey they will use.

Correct. And even though they are something that is meant to be beat up and take an impact, didn't anyone else think it odd that the equipment folks were haphazardly just tossing the bags of helmets into a the back of an open box truck without anyway of securing them? I'd think a bit more care would be taken if the helmets were to be re-used as some posters insist that they are. Silly.

Dude.. the video I am referencing is not the shoe video... the green was revealed in the OFFICIAL jets JERSEY teaser video where Jamal opens a box containing the New Jersey and flips out...

This thread definitely has a place. It's a topic we all find interesting. Some like our uniforms the way they are, others would like to see something new. It's fun to see people post pictures they've seen, or come up with ideas themselves that they like. It's also fun to read people react to them pro or con. The talk of colors and logos, and how far people are and aren't willing to go is interesting, as is the refresher course we've gotten in how the uniform has evolved from the 60's.

Where this thread veers off course is with the talk of "obvious" clues being leaked, inside information to be gleaned from photos or tweets, and the ignorance/arrogance of posters who feel they know for certain of what they speak, when its apparent to almost everyone they haven't a clue.

So here we are, in a place we get to fairly often here. A subject which started off as interesting, and fun to talk about, has been beaten to the point where there is nothing new to say, nothing interesting or fun about it. I get its mid January, we've only got 2 more days of football left, the FA period and draft are weeks away, much less OTAs and such. But I think I've had enough of the uniform speculation, I'm just going to wait for the reveal, and the ensuing clamor for and against.

Sorry for the rant!

Wait, the two absolute BEST "hints or clues".  The green that was on the banner of the ESPN broadcast, only to be completely outdone by the Jamal Adams tweet over G Williams that had the Grinch in it

Or was it that guy, third from the left and the other 1st on the right, their tops in the video of them walking to Nike HQ

You're getting warm, but you're still not there yet. This case is constantly evolving, and we now have our best clue yet. It's been right there for you since the Gase presser earlier this week. it's the..... STRIPED TIE, silly.

I highly highly highly highly doubt that this is real, but someone on Reddit posted this asking if it was a legitimate leak, and I wanted to see the reaction here ????.

Huh.  Strange logo. Looks like the Giants NY with bottom trail but in reverse. Also recalls the Jets wordmark with the trail on the bottom and to the left instead of top and right. Weird transition from the "N" to the "Y."   The black sleeves don't really go and should be white. The logo text should be white.    Perhaps it's a fake, but it seems just weird enough to be real. Pay attention to the "NFL 100" seal. This is not the logo that the NFL unveiled. But, maybe an approved variant for the uniforms not yet shown.  Hmm...

Also, on the logo, look at the negative space created between the "N' and the "J"  it looks like a jet wing banking away... especially if the "J" is understood as the tail fin.

I don't see how this affects your life this deeply.  I'm sure you can imagine a nice new uniform that plays off of the old one and uses a helmet that's white.  It's not hard.  And that's how it's going to be.  A subtle and modernized version of what we've been wearing.  It's what NFL teams do these days.  Let's not forget, our current uniforms are Top 10 in the league, it's not like they have to do much to make them a tad more modern.
