Name me one game or play where Mack, Donald, or J.J. Watt determined the outcome of a game.

Non sequitur. You cannot point to ANY such instances when Adams did. And each of those guys have had sacks or INTs, After 3.5 quarters yesterday CJ Mosely had more big plays than Adams has had his whole career.

Probably yes, which given the lack of talent on this team would be the right move.

If we had a TON of talented players -- edge rushers, stud lineman, playmakers, corners -- paying Adams wouldn't make sense. But until we actually start hitting on guys in the draft we very simply don't have a lot of guys to pay, and letting one of our only good players walk just doesn't make sense.

In other words, where are we even spending the money we'd save by letting him walk? UFAs? Nobody really good ends up available unless we overpay like mad men.

We need to just start hitting on draft picks.

Again, every March Eric Weddle and safeties like him come on the free agetn market. Safety is overhead, filler, not how you build a team. You don't overpay a safety because the last GM picked him so high.If he wants to a top dollar cotnract, then he has to be way more impactful. And he is not.

He’ll get paid what the markets is for a SS of his talent. His draft spot has absolutely nothing to do with his second contract.

And create another hole

Who cares?  Fill it with a mid-level FA or a mid-round draft pick.  We're a bad team with or without Jamal Adams.  To really move the needle, we have to invest in positions that actually matter.

The only holes on this team that actually matter are O-Line, EDGE, CB and WR.  Spend big on Jamal and that's just resources that should be spent on that list.

Jamal’s 2018 numbers (from Farrar)

24 catches on 48 targets for 291 yards, 122 yards after the catch, one touchdown, one interception, six pass breakups and an opponent passer rating of 67.3. He also had 94 tackles, 44 stops and three forced fumbles.

but he sucks

Sucks?  No.  Does things well that don't matter?  You betcha.  Our 11-24 record since he arrived is evidence of that.

Well in the below, Mack pretty much won an SNF against GB by himself.  Strip sack + pick 6.

Against AZ he engineered a comeback from down 14-3 thanks to a pair of turnovers as well.

Mack was pretty much a 1-man wrecking crew that dragged that crappy team to the playoffs.  Jamal Adams is a Safety who has an 11-24 record here yet has some Jets fans, who normally hate PFF, using it as gospel to suggest Adams has an enormous positive impact on games, even though not all plays are created equal, and Kerry Rhodes actually received a higher season grade on PFF than Adams did twice during his career.

That should actually be the name of your bio on JN..  Mistakes and Horrible Takes: a Jetfsn80 Retrospective

I chuckled, however 80 is far more known for middle aged virginity and the fapathon thread. Cant rep

It’s a team sport. Deon Sanders wouldn’t get this team into the playoffs over the last two years.

Exactly why Jamal Adams isn't very valuable, even among Safeties.  We were a 5-11 team with him, 5-11 without him.  What aren't you getting here?

The issue here is that Presmal is very good at self branding / marketing which is going to inflate his market value tremendously.

Overpaying (or overdrafting) low value positions is not the way to run a successful organization
