The Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans are having issues with their starting quarterbacks.

The Cowboys and quarterback Dak Prescott have had trouble agreeing on a long-term deal, and Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson has reportedly asked for a trade after losing trust in the front office.

With Prescott being allowed to be placed on the franchise tag for one more season and no deal in sight and Watson mulling over the possibility of sitting out for a year, one former NFL general manager’s solution is for the two teams to trade them for each other.

Speaking on ESPN’s “Get Up,” former Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum said the Cowboys could trade Prescott to the Houston Texans.

“They could get him signed, and they could trade him straight up for Deshaun Watson,” Tannenbaum said. “It’s player for player, and it solves one problem for one team and another for Dallas.”

Tannenbaum said that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones had made a costly mistake, ranging in the area of $40-to-$50 million by not signing Prescott to a long term extension two years ago. Tannenbaum added that he could have signed Prescott for less money.

By doing a sign-and-trade deal, Tannenbaum said the Cowboys would be able to cut their losses in a year and get Watson instead of a compensatory pick if Prescott were to hit the open free agent market in a year.

“Two years ago, it would have been about $32 to $33 million a year for Dak Prescott,” Tannenbaum said. “Now that number is going to be closer to $40 million in five or six years. That’s about a $50 million mistake. Kirk Cousins is a great example, and Dak’s going to do even better. One way for Jerry Jones, who’s in a very unique position of not having leverage, traded for Deshaun Watson get a player who’s slightly better under contract for five years.”

Not that I ever considered him to be a great "source", but Tannenbaum has really jumped the shark with this one.  Why in gods name would the Texans want a QB who's coming off a significant injury, would need to be paid a huge salary, AND who would most likely either not sign with the Cowboys if he knows it will be part of a sign-and-trade to the NFL's biggest sh*tshow, or will be supremely disgruntled if he's tricked into it?

Last week's Tannenbaum rumor was that Bill Belichick will (should?) do whatever it takes to get Watson and that would make them the favorites.

I realize that during this slow news period, pundits will try to conjure up "interesting" speculative scenarios for clickbait, but these are just ridiculous.

This one is up there with the one where the Jets trade away all of their picks for the next 3 years so SF can get Watson.

Seriously though....I'm wondering if there is a need for all these threads, too.

This post making me laugh. Like literally out loud.  Just cracking me up for some reason.

That was such a ridiculous trade scenario,

Tannenbaum was so bad and remains bad, but @joewilly12 making a new thread for every blog post from whatever “New Jersey Advanced Media” is should be considered a terrorist act.

Just doing what seems to be the normal Mr/Mrs  @T0mShane

Not interested in it don't click on it.
