Jets Sign Ancient WR Randall Cobb

No one said that he was. But someone is going to go and Davis makes the most sense. It is either him or Mims and one makes a ton of money he isn’t earning.

There's no way in hell we are going into the season without Corey Davis unless we replace him with someone else (that's not Cobb)

Cobb is not a Corey Davis replacement.  People on this board are crazy.

Most teams only roster 4 pure WRs.  The WR5/6 and Practice Squad guys usually need to be able to contribute on Specials.

Not that Mims was going to contribute there either but still.  We aren't rostering Cobb, Davis AND Mims barring a significant injury to somebody.  You can't have 6 WRs with none of them contributing on specials (except Hardman as the KR of course).  Just can't.

So he's obviously replacing Mims. Corey Davis is arguably our 2nd best receiver.

Pass rushing specialist as first round pick + Aaron Rodgers + Randall Cobb>JSN as a first round draft choice.

It just moves the needle a little more.

Within a year maybe two every one will be wondering how the hell we passed on jsn, flowers quentin johnson of dalton kincaid.

If the jets wanted mcdonald very badly fine they make the pick, i disagree with it.

If they had to avoid taking a slot wr becasue of cobb they are totally brain dead.

Hard to get too excited over a 33 year old WR, but obviously he is a guy Rodgers wanted and is comfortable with.

  • Wilson
  • Davis
  • Cobb
  • Lazard
  • Hardman

Not a bad top 5.  Denzel Mims should be on alert -- either he does something spectacular this summer to either grab a roster spot or become trade bait (I assume he is worth nothing now), or he is a likely cut candidate in August.

I agree, its going to kill the mood of that super bowl win.  Same old jets

Taking a slot receiver at 15 overall is never a wise call.  People are wringing their hands over a position that isn't particularly impactful on wins and losses.  An OK situational pass rusher >>> elite slot receiver.

Maybe.

I am on record of not liking JSN as a player. Hurt last year with a hamstring most of the year. Rumors of him jaking it. His production came from a couple a couple big games his sophomore year.

I don't love the player in the first round. But that is what makes the world g 'round.

Not spending more than two seconds worrying about who plays WR5 on the Jets. In my two seconds of worrying, I'd rather Cobb over Mims.

Exactly... WR5/6 ...player coach most likely vet minimum money plus some Sprinkles.

Lol at the 15% of people who b*tch about everything.

I’d be more upset on missing out on Kincaid if he turns out to be Kelce lite.
TEs are way harder to find of that caliber.

JSN would have to be Tyreek Hill esque for me to be even slightly jealous. You can find good ones on a down year.

It’s a smart signing. It’s not going to eat up a bunch of cap space and he obviously knows Rogers which will help out the other wide receivers that haven’t played with him. Having a vet on the team that’s familiar with Rogers is not a bad move. Not every signing needs to be a superstar so stop whining.

Somebody in the current top 6 has to go.  You thinking its Davis then?

Davis could at least get something in a trade, but for a team in win now mode, I prefer we keep him.  Having 5 experienced WRs is valuable, especially as someone is bound to get hurt.  Davis, Hardman and Cobb all missed time last season.

Meh teams usually have 6 wrs active right? Maybe they do 5 usually I forget

6th guy is almost always someone who can contribute on specials.

Often the # 5 guy can as well, but that wouldn't be necessary for us since Hardman will likely be the KR.

Am I the only one who doesn’t hate this move? Clearly, he’s done and washed. I do like the leadership he brings and I only think it will benefit GW. He’s rarely going to see playing time.

are we short veteran leadership? GW is the only kid in WR room lol

You could tell me they're signing Sterling Sharp to a 2 year deal and I'd still be smiling. We have the best QB any of us have ever seen on the Jets for the next couple years.  Sign Peter Dinklage at H-back for all I care.
