The arrogance of youth. Mims was similar to Mekhi who was similar to Zach, they thought they had all the time in the world, not realizing they were on the clock the minute they got drafted.  Pissing away their chances, taking for granted playing time and resources being poured into them

indictment on those that drafted these players

Mims.

Becton.

Zuniga, lol.  Perine, lol.  Capt. Morgan, lol, lol, lol.

That first JD draft class was about as bad a draft class as there could possibly be.

When Ashtyn Davis is the pick of the litter, smh.

His second year class really, honestly, isn't much better.  Alot of games played as a group, but not much production, and the top of that class has turned into another poopshow.

Wilson (historically bad), AVT (like Becton, looked great early, then mostly out for two seasons), Moore (run out of town on a rail because of his hatred of Zach Wilson and being sidelined from the O), Carter the JAG RB and worse.

Carter is a decent enough Safety, not a star, but fills a role.  And Pinnock looks like a role player for the Giants.  That's about it.

If not for the trip of Sauce/Wilson/Hall in 2022, what would JD's reputation as a drafter be?

Still better than Mike Maccagnan's.  Low bar to clear, but still.

Macc had entire draft classes that were basically completely worthless.  2016 and 2018, in particular.

Remove 2022 and you still have useful players from every class, at least.  Ashtyn Davis, AVT, Michael Carter II, Joe Tippman (14 effective starts at C in '23).

Hard to know what JD “learned” from his first two draft classes but the single biggest issue with the 2020 and 2021 drafts was guys who are total headcases. Mental makeup derailed talented guys like Becton, Mims, Wilson, and Moore. We haven’t seen as much of that — I’d hope it’s been an emphasis.

Zach wasn’t good enough.   The other two I think is current point.

that mimsy fan boys were proud and strong in defending him-

Joe drafting Mims Wilson and Becton set the team back 3+ years at minimum

Joe will be gone after this year as will Saleh-Joe tied himself to Wilson and Arod and it will be his demise in the end and his record will be the worst ever as a jets gm

Mims has 9 lives....just signed by the JAGS:

NFL Player News: Latest Reports, Injuries, Transactions - Rotoworld - NBC Sports - NBC Sports

Jaguars signed WR Denzel Mims, formerly of the Steelers.
Mims was released by the Steelers earlier this week and will now have a chance to compete for a spot on the Jaguars’ roster this offseason. The former second-round pick hasn’t played a regular-season snap since 2022 and is now set to join his fourth team over that span. He’ll face an uphill battle to make a Jaguars roster that returns Christian Kirk and also added Gabe Davis, Devin Duvernay, and Brian Thomas Jr. this offseason.

Maybe he should trade in a life for the ability to catch the ball with his hands.

Al Ward was 6-22 in 2 years as Jets Gm for a .214 winning pct.  I think his record of futility is safe.
