Glimmers of hope.

Oakland Raiders

edit

In 2015, Downing was hired by the Oakland Raiders as their quarterbacks coach under head coach Jack Del Rio.[4] Downing is credited for helping Derek Carrbecome the first Raiders quarterback to be selected to a Pro Bowl since 2002.

4] On January 20, 2015, Downing was named by Pro Football Focus as Quarterbacks Coach of the Year.[6]

After coaching Raiders quarterbacks for two years, he was promoted to offensive coordinator in 2017, after the Raiders decided not to renew Bill Musgrave's contract.[4]

When Downing coached Carr from 2015–16, he threw for 7,924 yards, 60 touchdowns, and 19 interceptions with two Pro Bowl appearances.[7]

Just now, Trotter said:

So is rodgers still calling all the shots like many here and the media believe?

this is all a smokescreen and behind the scenes nothing has changed?

sounds ridiculous no?

We will see.  The fact that Hackett is still here and kept his OC title means something.

Id prefer Hackett was fired and sent home.  Not sure how much will change w/ him still in the building.

We will see Monday night.

Sounds like a PC thing to me.  Hackett is OC still so hes still running the show.

Does it? Go back and read some of your most recent posts and declarations. You’re a disgusting fraudulent whining twink who should just disconnect himself from the internet.

Just reported by the national media that Rodgers got Hackett demoted by going behind Ulbrich’s back straight to Woody Johnson. Apparently Rodgers also asked Ulbrich which of his kids is best to play catch in warmup before practice and games.

All is good

Hackett had already been stripped of play-calling duties by Saleh. Ulbrich simply isn't reversing that move.

https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/robert-saleh-removed-play-calling-duties-from-nathaniel-hackett-before-being-fired

At a meeting on Tuesday morning, Saleh informed the coaching staff that passing game coordinator Todd Downing would become the game-day play-caller, with offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett demoted. Hackett wasn’t being fired in the classic sense, but it was going to be his decision to whether he stayed.

Then, after the meeting, Saleh found out he was being fired in the classic sense.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled program, that Rodgers got Saleh fired.

Love that he's making the point about starting fast and seems determined with it.

I’ve been saying this on repeat for weeks now.

13 total first drive points in 22 games under Hackett.

29% of the average team who has scored 44 points (5 TDs + 3 FGs).

A statistical anomaly but not really.

More a reflection of a lack of strike first mentality, a disregard for modern offensive football, a scheme over strategy approach, and an utter lack of creativity.  Some of which was likely dictated or condoned by our former HC.
