Teams inquiring about Garrett Wilson

Garrett Wilson putting Garrett Wilson on the trade block. You love to see it.

This kind of story doesn’t just come out of nowhere.  Probably a better than 70% chance Wilson’s camp put this out.  He knows he won’t be the WR1 here the rest of the season.  He knows the Jets are “all in” now and Rodgers is the short-term QB for a year or two.  Wilson likely wants to go where there’s a good young QB.

Teams wouldn’t just call the Jets inquiring about GW during a “win now” season when the Jets are loading up and not tearing down.  Why would teams think the Jets would trade for Davante to improve the offense and then trade away GW?  They wouldn’t.  This is all Wilson’s camp.

Yeah, very strange. On the one hand, it smacks of Wilson’s camp wanting to seed the ground with rumors that he might be available, which would presumably initiate some movement toward getting him out of here. That, and the part of Schefter’s rumor that acquiring teams would immediately extend him. Does Wilson think that Douglas is going to bone him on dragging out an extension? Seems likely.

On the other hand, Wilson and Rodgers have beefed a few times already, and Rodgers has open enmity towards young receivers who don’t do exactly what he says. Aikman said two interesting and possibly revealing things last week: 1. Posited that Garrett Wilson had “regressed” and 2. How much “the Jets” love Xavier Gipson. Aikman and Rodgers are pretty good friends, so you have to wonder if Rodgers wouldn’t prefer to go to war with Davante, Lazard, and Gipson, who will all just do what he says. Given that dynamic, and with Woody inserting himself into the running of the team, Wilson is expendable in the short term, and the Jets are all-in on the short term

This is the key. We can sit here and debate who leaked this, or bemoan how foolish it would be to trade a young stud at a key position, but as long as Woody is in charge of day-to-day operations, literally anything is possible.

That is a lot of words for a tweet that was put out there by Schefter to drum up Jets fans and get cheap clicks.

I guess guys like you get off on a similar dopamine hit but for attention in a forum rather than money, kind of sad.

You won’t trade him now. You trade him in the offseason if some is willing to give you two 1st round picks

Yes Adam Schefter is desperate for clicks

It’s literally how he demonstrates value to his employer. The tweet linked to an article. Real breaking news’s tweets don’t include links to articles which essentially say that the thing that was tweeted isn’t going to actually ever happen 13 times.

Any team can enquire about any player. Doesn’t mean the player is for sale and even further more a gigantic price would have to be matched.

There’s close to a 0 chance we trade GW. But anyone’s for sale for the right price. NOLA calls with 3 1st and you have to listen.

Have you bros finished debunking the Russini piece where she painted Saleh as a dim himbo, Nate Hackett as an inept OC, Zach Wilson as a spurned sadboy and Aaron Rodgers as a narcissistic disruptor who was kneecapping the team? I heard that was all fake news.

The most plausible scenario is that other teams are speculating that Garrett will be pissed and want out because they brought in Adams to be the #1.  In reality, Wilson will be the biggest beneficiary (after Rodgers) of Adams coming aboard since he will see a lot more single coverage and has a chance to put up some big numbers.

Woody is a billion times more likely to trade for someone stupid than trade away a star WR on a rookie contract in the middle of the season.

The realistic nightmare scenario is that GW gets tired of this mess and wants out at some point, but even in that scenario, he most likely doesn't get moved until the Jets have to pay him.

I don’t see how this is a bad thing, other than Rodgers being old. He expects his guys to know the plays. A big Jets issue has been accountability and laziness.

Romeo Dobbs ghosted the Packers for a week because he was upset at targets.

Which one gets a second contract with the NYJ? GW, Breece, JJ or Sauce?
Right now I’d say Breece (or maybe JJ at a bargain rate)

Breece is a RB: it would be bad business.

JJ is an edge coming off an Achilles: Carl Lawson.

Sauce is good:  leaning towards overrated at this point and doesn’t score points.

Wilson: only one with elite player potential.

The guy second in total receptions is "expendable" in the short term? LMAO

Hey, did it hurt to pull this much sh*t out of your ass at once?

I missed the part where this is comparable to that report. This is schefter saying one thing and you inventing an entirely different conspiracy theory around it.
