Fins Ignoring Taylor, Jets may make a run?

two things

1-Haynesworth isn't on the block since Washington just paid him 20 million last week and

2-we need an edge pass rusher not another NT

1-yep you're right. didn't read/think everything through

2-even though it doesn't matter now, Haynesworth should be playing 5 tech in a 34.

But from my understanding he looks fats and heavy so...who knows. Oh well. I will say 2008 Haynesworth would have been a nasty 34 DE.

PS- **** JASON TAYLOR.

I'd still hate to see us let Bran Thomas go-he could start at Douglas' DE position-he's ALWAYS been a good soldier when it comes to that stuff-remember when we tried moving him to DT? I can't recall one time ever hearing BT complain about anything-he's been a good solid Jet

+1. Always underrated imo. If he was like a 3rd round pick he would be much more appreciated, unfortunately.

I NEVER ever want Jason Taylor in a Jets uniform. I dont care if he could help us. There arent alot of people that i hate. In life or in football. But i genuinely hate this man with all the fiber of my being (which is pretty large).

No offense, but you could pretty much say that about anyone. If he was a 4th round, or a 6th, or undrafted. Fact is that most ppl get drafted in certain rounds because that is what their talent level should be. Thomas never lived up to what he was supposed to be. Is he better than alot of ppl at that position, yeah maybe you can make some argument. But, he is def. not a top level linebacker which is what the Jets were hoping he would be.

BT would have been long gone if VG panned out. BT had a decent year and doesnt deserve to be replaced by JT.

if taylor has gas in the tank then i think he is a good fit with our defense. i'd love to see him and pace get after QBs with revis and butthead covering downfield.

he's also a player who can make the transition to new york despite all the "hard feelings".

he's a professional and wants to win.

i'd feel good about signing him, i'm just skeptical. i buy into the sentiment that he's using the jets to get parcells to make an offer.

if we do sign him, how will it affect our draft?

Mr. T said that if they didn't sign Cromartie they would have drafted a CB in the 1st round. Is it the same deal with pass rusher? Does their going hard after JT mean that they don't like any of the pass rushing prospects that will likely be on the board at 29?

In the 25 pages on this thread, I'm sure somebody has put up the transcripts of Jason Taylor lambasting the Jets fans, I just haven't looked thru all of it. He's a punk and if he has any self respect, he'll just not sign. There is no player I have hated more in my time as a Jets fan than JT. It will not happen. I'm hoping Tannenbaum listens to WFAN during the day. The callers today spoke loud and clear about our Hatred for JT.

Retire, and go do Gay Porn JT.

Taylor won't sign with Jets on the spot

By Tim Graham

Although decorated sackmaster Jason Taylor has been in the NFL for 13 years, he never has been schmoozed like a superstar free agent.

He spent the first 11 years of his career with the Miami Dolphins, then was traded to the Washington Redskins before returning home.

Now he's being wooed by the best defensive team in the league.

Taylor spent Wednesday listening to the New York Jets make an impassioned pitch. He and his wife, Katina, will spend the night and visit with general manager Mike Tannenbaum and head coach Rex Ryan some more Thursday.

His agent, Gary Wichard, didn't expect a decision to be made for a few days, but couldn't say for sure. Wichard said Jason and Katina Taylor likely will return to their home in Weston, Fla., and take the weekend to sort out their plans.

"This is a guy that I can honestly say the contract is not a motivating factor," Wichard said. "The only things that matter are winning, enjoying football and getting a Super Bowl ring."

Taylor, an unrestricted free agent, hadn't expected to address his future until after the draft. But the Jets are bound by the "final eight" plan for the uncapped season. They're prohibited from signing an unrestricted free agent until they lose one, and kicker Jay Feely departed last week when he signed with the Arizona Cardinals.

"As soon as they got the freedom to come after a free agent, Jason was their No. 1 guy," Wichard said. "He was their target."

Taylor is the NFL's active leader with 127.5 sacks. He has been voted All-Pro three times and selected for six Pro Bowls. He was defensive player of the year for 2006 and won the league's Walter Payton Man of the Year Award for community service the following season.

Ryan has been interested in Taylor for a year, but Taylor refused to entertain the idea of joining a bitter rival. Taylor walked away from a heap of guaranteed money with the Redskins in hopes of returning to the Dolphins after a season apart.

A year later, Taylor is intrigued by the Jets. They owned the No. 1 total defense, scoring defense and passing defense last year. Taylor would provide an outside pass-rushing element that was missing last year. Taylor recorded seven sacks last season. The Jets' starting outside linebackers, Calvin Pace and Bryan Thomas, combined for 10 sacks.

"Rex has been a big Jason Taylor supporter, a fan forever," Wichard said. "He's talked about him for years.

"He wants to be able to take Jason and line him up and put him in different situations to get to the quarterback, which is right up his alley.

"Hey, it's the No. 1 defense in the NFL, and when Rex Ryan, the No. 1 defensive coach in the NFL picks up the phone and aggressively comes after you, you've got to listen."

i honestly dont think he will. He's always commented about how much he hates NY and he hates Jets fans. He just wants to be wined and dined a little bit.

I'm not saying this because I'm a Jets fan, but the Dolphins suck. They have absolutely no chance of winning a SB. He wants to win and the Jets have the best chance out of all the teams in the AFCE.

I really want him to sign, though. If Rex thinks he can get 15 sacks, then so do I.

that last sentence is key to me. Because its true. I trust this team like i never have before and i trust Rex. Whatever moves they make ill support them on because they know whats best for the team, but i sures hell aint gonna be happy about it.

I hate Jason Taylor, but I honestly think he can make our team better. I just can't see him signing, and I guess he already left NY? I don't know. Hopefully they have a verbal agreement by tomorrow.

All of the production of Victor Hobson at five times the price!

I wouldn't piss down Jason Taylor's throat if his guts were on fire, but turning down an opportunity to get him for $1.5 million just because he's a douchenozzle is full retard.

+1

I hope he doesn't sign, but if he does, and at that price in particular, he makes the team better.

Finally, someone with some loyalty!

Those who want to sell your a*s for a ring need to turn in their green.

I have no problem with Jason Taylor finishing his career by getting a Super Bowl ring in Green and White because it would mean THE JETS WON THE ****ING SUPER BOWL!!!

Some memorable Jason Taylor quotes...

On returning a fumble for a touchdown against the Jets in 30-25 win at Meadowlands in 2009: "To score a touchdown in New York against the Jets in the last time I'll be in the hellhole they call a stadium up there before they get rid of it and move to the new one, it was outstanding."

On implosion of old Meadowlands Stadium in 2009: "Go ahead, they can turn it into a parking lot for all I care."

On the Jets' talking trash under Rex Ryan during 2009 season: "There comes a point where you've got to win with class, and you've got to lose with class, and we try to do that. We're not perfect. We do engage in some of the trash going back and forth, but at the end of the day we have two wins, and I think that gives us a little more reason to talk."

You guys still want him?

It is pretty obvious that Rex really wants Taylor, but I think it is also obvious that he would prefer to play in Miami if given a choice. If he is given any indication that his services are wanted with the Dolphags, he will probably turn down the Jets. I don't think the Dolphags really want him anymore. I expect a Jet signing by Monday.

Why would we want a guy that cares enough to actually hate the teams that are supposed to be his rivals? We don't need that kind of spirit here. Move along troll, nothing to see here.

You can't be serious. Your head coach is well quoted as saying he hates the Dolphins, does that mean you don't want him on your team? I think not.
