No worries, it certainly is a low point for us all.  I'd personally like to see Simms start, I'm just afraid no one has the balls to allow it.

The Jets gave Vick 5 million (i think) for this season... They better play him before they play Phil's son....

Problem now is if Simms came in and was merely okay(never mind good), basically calls into question the whole program. Why were you playing Smith if you had a servicable QB on your bench the whole time? Persoanlly don't think you can trust Ryan nor Idzik to make any decisions at all; their judgment sucks. But Simms succeeding would make that even more obvious. Simms won't get a shot because if he works out it makes them look even worse. Ands whether either is back or goese elsewhere, Simms looking decent would be a tough question to answer the next time they interview for a new job. The whole "open competition" lie would get exposed big time.

Yup... To not put SIMMS out there is a disservice to the fans. You MUST see what you have. If he sucks...SHOW ME , DON'T TELL ME!!!

They've been telling us Geno and Vick are awesome, so why am I supposed to believe them when they tell me Simms isn't a starter!?

Who is really telling us this?  Everything I have read seems like both MM, and Lee like him.  Lee said he has shown more improvement than any QB he has ever worked with.

Seems to me that Idzik is calling the QB shots

This is exactly how Woody has run this team into the ground.  Trusting the judgment of fans or close counsel to keep executives, coaches and players.  To continue this lunacy in the words of Einsten is insanity.

But go ahead...carry on with the poll.  Makes about as much as sense as giving two rookie QBs a job with earning it.

Jets’ Matt Simms Ready To Back Up Vick If Necessary

Demoted QB Geno Smith Limited By Shoulder Injury; Availability Uncertain Vs. KC

October 30, 2014 8:24 AM

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) — Geno Smith could go from being benched to being inactive for the New York Jets.

The backup quarterback, sent to the sideline in favor of Michael Vick, has a shoulder injury that makes his availability uncertain for the team’s game at Kansas City on Sunday.

And Matt Simms is ready to step in at No. 2 — if necessary.

Smith was limited at practice Wednesday and did not throw any passes during the session.

“Very precautionary,” said Smith, adding that his right shoulder is sore. “I just have to take it slow.”

Smith was hurt a few plays before throwing his third interception in the first quarter against Buffalo last Sunday, but said it didn’t affect his play. He tossed interceptions on three straight possessions, making a shoulder tackle of Aaron Williams to save a touchdown on the last of them.

“I took a hit early on and kind of had a stinger,” Smith said. “And then, that last play really hurt me.”

Smith gave way to Vick after that last interception, but it was uncertain if he could have even continued on in the game because of the injury if he hadn’t been benched.

“I would have tried,” he said. “I always try to push through those things. I’m not sure if I would have or not.”

Both Smith and coach Rex Ryan think the quarterback should be ready to play if needed against the Chiefs, but Simms — currently on the practice squad — could be elevated to the active roster if Smith can’t go.

“Nothing’s changed for me,” Simms said, according to the Record. “I just continue to approach my work every day with a fresh outlook. … If I get called up, I’ll be ready. If I don’t, then I’ll just continue to do what I’ve been doing.”

The 26-year-old third-stringer, who played in three games last season, has been careful not “to get too high or too low.”

“I’m just going to do my work, show up on time and go about my business,” he said.

Smith will not be the starter for the first time in his NFL career, a span of 24 regular-season games in which he has thrown 31 interceptions against 19 touchdowns and lost six fumbles. The last time he didn’t start a game was in his freshman year at West Virginia, so the backup role is not a familiar one for Smith.

“It is difficult, but at the same time I’m a professional athlete and I’ve been playing football my entire life,” Smith said. “I’ve seen these things happen and it’s all about how you respond. I fully expect to respond well and come back from this and be stronger.”

Smith believes the organization still has faith in him to be the quarterback to lead the franchise. But he acknowledged that if Vick plays well, he could be stuck on the sideline the rest of the season.

“If he’s giving us the best chance to win games, then he should be the starter,” Smith said. “And I’m going to fully support Mike, just the same way he did for me.”

NOTES: WR Jeremy Kerley (illness) and CB Darrin Walls (calf, knee) did not practice. RG Willie Colon (knee), LG Oday Aboushi (shoulder), LB David Harris (shoulder) and LB Trevor Reilly (knee) were all limited. … Ryan on the Jets being on pace to set an NFL record for fewest turnovers — they have three so far — in a season: “I have been a part of a lot of record-setting defenses, but I never thought I would set one in futility. Thank goodness the year isn’t over. I bet we won’t be there. I bet we won’t break that record before the year is over, but we can’t buy one.

PFFFFFT!!!!... He ain't done nutin'

Let Vick rock and roll out there. He's prepared, decisive, protects the ball. He gives us the best chance to assess the massive amount of talent that makes up our offense.

25 of 32 for 278 yards and 3 TDs and no turnovers for Vick.

And why is he not starting, get Vick out of here and put Geno on the Bench......Jets are you listening Start the Kid!

You have to rotate QB's until you find your guy. ANY OTHER head coach would have pulled Geno after week 4. Vick would have gotten at least 4 games. He would have dueled Manning and Brady. If we were still losing the last 8 games would have been 3 or 4 for Simms and then you could have gone back to Geno for the last few if Matt was struggling to see if he stabilized.

Instead we drove Geno into the ground so it's now impossible to go back and Vick has nothing to play for. No vet like Vick wants to take over at 1-7, he has nothing to prove. I can't understand why, if you have not established your franchise QB, you would have any QB on the roster who is not getting reps. Seattle rolled through 5 or 6 guys before they settled on the 3rd round pick.

This guy makes this seem like rocket science. It's not easy to find a franchise QB, but the process is clear.... either draft Andrew Luck, or bring as many guys as possible and don't waste entire seasons deciding if they have "it" or not. So far we've gotten a good solid look at 2 QB's in 6 years with Ryan. At this rate we will find our guy in about 35 more years.

who cares where Simms is?  we were all clamoring for him to start last year, he did and he was terrible.

Only problem with this argument is that Simms never started last year.  He came in 3 games after Smith was benched, and the game was well out of reach.  Cinci, Bills, and the first Fish game.

He was 16/29 in all 3 games, under very bad conditions. Not very good, but  much better then Smith's stats in those 3 games.

I'd like to see him get a week of prep, and start a football game before he is kicked to the curb.  Both Smith and Vick suck.  I want to make sure Simms does to.

It certainly can't hurt anything

Big ups to Chris Mortensen for reporting Matt Simms was activated real quick like i was hoping he would. Mort was pushing for Simms last year and giving him positive reports. Hopefully Matt can get a shot and take advantage of it. this team is in a free fall and his upbeat personality and skills could be what this team needs. Geno is a deadpan Vick can only scramble. At least matt can work from under center, from shotgun, read a D, has good feet, and a cannon. His only drawback is that he is shooter who trusts in his arm too much and inexperience gets him in trouble. Ive been following Simms and know that at least he has better tools than Smith who was only given the job cause Idsick wanted him there cause it was his pick. This team right now has Idsicks fingerprints all over it. Simms was the better QB in training camp last year and this year. Jets are so much ego and not enough play the best guy no matter who it is. Go through the entire roster if you have to.

Lacked the timing with the receivers but made the right decisions. He had no snaps with the first team.

Which is why i dont understand why people are like Matt SImms sucks. No practice and he played well made the right calls. Vick with or without practice is no better. Can you imagine if Simms gets a few weeks to get down the timing? yet coaches put Vick back in...-__-
