Dude, there are tons of people who think Geno is the real deal, and has been treated unfairly by the Jets. And that if Geno only was given a fair chance ,he would be our true franchise QB that we have been longing for forever.

can't wait for those people to be proven wrong in the next 3-4 weeks

So, Geno Smith puts fans back in the seats now?

Take a look at the backpages of the papers tomorrow. Should answer your question.

Failing Jets switch to Other Failing QB?

If it was Hackenberg, that'd be meaningful news.  This story may be on the back page, but NY Baseball is over, the NHL is brand new, and the NBA is still in preseason.  Otherwise, it's below-the-fold news.

You don't have to like Geno to agree with the move. It's very complex being a Jets fan. You have weigh in variables of suck, think a pie chart of suck if you will, before making a decision. This one is easy. Ryan Fitzpatrick: overall suck metrics 100%. Geno Smith: overall suck metrics 97.5%. Geno Smith is the obvious answer by 2.5 percentage points. It's math.

It's remarkable that EVERY TIME Fitz has a decent year and gets paid right after he's awful.  That's a special talent.

What is more remarkable...his consistency in such situations or the fools that fall for it each time?

It's more news than the Jets we're getting, which to Woody, means a lot.

Come'on, the irony here is too much.  This has literally what I've been saying to you about Fitz for 2 years...and now you're flipping the script because its Geno?

With Fitz, the upside was the playoffs, by virtue of him throwing 31 TD's and us winning 10 games.

Geno's upside is 5-11.

You either want a strong shot at the postseason or a top draft pick.  Geno provides us with neither, much like Fitz at this point.

I can see both sides. If only Bowles hadn't been so determined in his vote of confidence on Monday

DId you actually hear what he said ??. Because in past pressers and statements he made it perfectly clear Fitz was the starter. This time he left himself the out by stating they would review the situation on Tue when the coaches met.  He probably did not want to throw Fitz under the bus in a live press conference and rightfully so.

Ummmm, they didnt make the playoffs.  Fitz has never made the playoffs and Fitz will never make the playoffs.

Geno went 8-8 once as a rookie on the worst team ever assembled.  Should I brag about that?

Either way, you're parroting my exact rationale just using a different player to do it.

Then he needed to emphasize that point to make sure that the media would not cut his quote and try to squeeze it.

10 wins gets you to the postseason 86 % of the time.  At least with Fitz and this team playing at its best, we had a shot.

10-6 >>>> a fluky 8-win season where we were outscored by 97 points.

Geno is a 5-win QB, the type that will win meaningless Week 16 and 17 games to cost us a top pick.

I prefer we continue to suck under Geno and turn to Petty, when he's ready, then either end up with a top pick OR find out Petty is legit.

The legend of Geno grows and grows. He gets better every day that he sits. In a way, we are kind of lucky he is not sitting anymore, he would be Joe Montana by the end of the season.

Barring a sudden injury next season, and a complete lack of even semi suitable replacements, Ryan Fitzpatrick will most likely never play another down in the NFL. He will end his career among the highest paid QBs in the NFL, on a per-game-played basis ($2MM per game). Overall, Fitz has probably banked around $35MM. That averages to ~$3MM per season (he has played 11), far below what decent QBs average in the NFL, but probably nothing anyone on this board would not love to see fatten his or her wallet. So Fitz now waltzes into early retirement at age 34 with a 35+ million dollar nest egg -- despite being an outstanding mediocrity overall in his chosen profession. Well, good for him, and bad for us. Once again, for what seems like a nightmare movie that never stops repeating itself, season after season, we Jets fans are left with major egg barf on our faces, as yet another over-the-hill or never-was athlete leaves town with a bucketful of gold doubloons. Going forward, I certainly hope Mac familiarizes himself with the concept of mean reversion, and that Petty turns out the The Answer (forget Geno, he's a band-aid at this point). Statistically, we are long past due to have one go our way. You never know.

Your estimates are probably high, and after tax he probably netted half of what you say but not a bad pay day.
