2nd Round

Saw this the other day.  Lets see what loser we get this year in the 2nd round

It’s almost hard to fathom, but the Jets have drafted only two Pro Bowlers since 1979: Defensive end Mark Gastineau — who was the team’s second-round pick that year — and cornerback Justin Miller in 2005.

But, there’s a bit of a caveat to that statistic. See, Miller went to Hawaii in 2007 as the AFC’s kick returner, not in the defensive backfield. In fact, Miller was a terrible cornerback when the Jets put him on defense.

2016 – QB Christian Hackenberg

2015 – WR Devin Smith

2014 – TE Jace Amaro

2013 – QB Geno Smith

2012 – WR Stephen Hill

2010 – OG Vlad Ducasse

IMHO Jets have to come out of the 1st 2 rounds with at least 1 cornerback.  If we don't take a CB at #6, we HAVE to take a CB in the 2nd

Jets can survive waiting till 3rd round to take CB, or even not taking one at all in the first 3 rounds.  They HAVE to come away with a FS in the 1st, or 2nd round who is capable of starting week 1.

I did an exhaustive write-up on our 2nd round failures. This only scratches the surface. It's bad... like there's a hex on the team bad.

We've had first round corners for the last decade plus, where has it gotten us

maybe time to try a new approach

yep sayin for quite sometime.  the only thing left to comment on is smith and hack.  they're still on the team and have a chance to show something.  in hack's case, the plan was to sit him for a season.  smith?  some bad luck injurywise and some bad qb play.  he may yet surprise.

I'm not against getting a CB, but I'm ok with Burris and Claiborne this year. Offense is a far more pressing need. If we are going to develop Hack or a draft or even a top pick next year, you need weapons on offense.

You know what's weird about all those guys? Not one of them seemed to be mentally sound. Like, Devin Smith doesn't even appear to like football. Hackenberg projects like he was an abused puppy in a past life. Geno Smith was clearly ****ed up. Do our talent evaluators even speak to these dudes?

Wait are you judging the GM on only his picks and not holding him accountable for the futility of this POS organization for the last 40+ years?

Just trade the friggin' 2nd round pick.  The Jets scouting department should only be allowed to pick their nose in the 2nd.

Let Joe Klecko and Brandon Moore announce the 3rd round pick together.  Couldn't be worse than the Oscar's screw up.

Lol, Breaking News Jets turn down sweet heart of a deal to trade back into the 1st round because they already promised Joe Klecko he can announce their 2nd round pick, that would be so Jetsy.

The scouting department's history in the 2nd defies the laws of mathematics.  They should have accidentally drafted a quality player.

It is unbelievable. Every year they make the same fn' mistake.

They draft a player with a SUPPOSED  "high ceiling" along with relatively high bust potential.  They should be drafting players with a high floor.  Forget the ceiling.

So true. Take Vlad Ducasse, came from Haiti, and it got out that he had a hard time understanding English, lol. So, not only do his teammates name him Mr. Ugly at camp, he steps into a huddle & hears.. Gun-Double-Right-200-Scat-Triple-Slant-Thunder-on-One....now picture Vlad Ducasse face moving to the LOS.

F*cking Morons!

i sense some sarcasm. you can't possibly blame this gm for anything that happened during the idzik or tanny or bradway or parcells or hickey or steinberg etc reigns.

Yes.  The 2nd round is where tons of CBs are going to get picked.  We can still draft an elite one with our 2nd rounder.
