Why torment the poor guy? He knows his days are numbered and that he squandered an opportunity at a long NFL career by displaying a cavalier attitude toward improvement and he will basically be on someone's practice squad or special teams unit from here on out. At the league minimum.

Because some people are assholes by nature. They are cowards.

Pac is yankeeclippa?

Besides some foolish no one on the internet flexing this fingers at a guy that could probably mess him up in person, Pryor is in trouble and I hope he's feeling it. If he's on this roster this season he could be an asset if he's motivated. But Pryor seems mentally weak, loud over compensation and it's possible that could reflect itself in an even worse season than usual.

He's a Whiffle bat, not a L'vile Slugger.

That's pretty good. Won't be long before Max puts it on twitter as his own .

I think Pryor once called me the "CEO of dumbass" or something like that for suggesting after a bad play that his future might not be at safety. So I cant say Im that surprised at a social media fight with someone who actually went out of his way to start something with him.

So have the NY Jets since 1968 MANY others have been a lot worse.  The defensive coordinator sucks ass and Todd Bowles seems to have a way of ruining DB's.....

The Jets need to make lemonade from the lemon.   Pryor is now the third of 3 safeties.  Find a role for him.  Hopefully he signs with another team and we get a comp pick.  Or he stays for a fair price.

It is not good business to put people down.

Not taking sides one way or the other in their little social media battle, because yankeeclippa sounds childish to say the least (as does any non-public figure/entity with an active twitter account in the first place). But why is it cowardly for someone to criticize him on the internet if he'd worry about getting his face bashed in if it was done in public? More to the point, why is a battle of wits (ok go with me on referring to this crap as wit) unfair but a battle of fists is totally fair? He has to go at him only in settings where Pryor holds a distinct and decided advantage? Meh.

Say yankeeclippa is some kid in his mom's basement or some big fatso, as some allege, or just pick any image of some soft, snot-nosed douchebag who couldn't match up physically with the likes of a 24-25 year old Cavlin Pryor. The idea that he isn't permitted to challenge someone, if he can't match up physically with a heavy-hitting physical specimen (like Pryor) in the prime of his life, is a caveman's logic.

But Pryor would probably go for the big hit on yankeeclippa and completely whiff anyway.

I get a different read.  It's kind of similar to the idea that it is considered cowardly to say anything behind someone's back. Most of us were taught that if you are going to say something about someone, you have to be willing to say it to their face. It has nothing to do with fighting the person. It is just about being a person who isn't a duplicitous phony.  The idea is that if you are speaking anonymously to person on the internet kind of feels the same as saying something behind someones back. It's the lack of transparency that makes it cowardly. If "YankeeClippa" was actually Steve Jones, it might be considered less cowardly, though I don't know how you can verify if that is an alias or not.  But the perception is at least that he's not hiding behind a screen name.  But then again the whole idea about getting all bent out of shape because somebody said something about you is also a mark of weakness.

Meh. Say Pryor is a loose cannon and is the very type to just take a swing at you, were you to say something "face to face" in non-"cowardly" fashion -- does that mean such a person is beyond reproach unless it's from someone capable of whopping him? Your take on it suggests your answer is yes.

In that case, the coward would be comment-recipient, who can't take any criticism or unflattering comments tossed his way, and will silence others with his fists. Pretty neanderthal way of going about it. And while I can't say what he would or wouldn't do physically, he sure doesn't seem like the type that handles criticism well, even if it's done by someone not addressing him directly (e.g. @jason423's post above).

Sorry...I need a bit of clarification on the bolded above. I think you are asking if "Pryor" should only be held accountable by people who are capable of matching up physically to him. In that case, no. Of course not. To quote the great George Costanza: "Ya know we're living in a society"

As to the 2nd paragraph...Yes, I'd agree with that. If someone attacks a person for speaking to them, or even insulting them, they should get locked up.

Though I did once crush a guys hand in an aggressively intimidating handshake after a backhanded compliment. It was very satisfying to see him wincing and then he was wearing a bandage on it the next day which made me grin even more. So there is a bit of neanderthal in me as well.

Bottom line, if you are going to say anything, be ready for the other persons reaction. If you can't handle it, maybe it is better to stick to the old adage of "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." So I guess in a round about way, maybe there is some validity to being able to match up to someone - or at least not be fearful of their reactions if you do,

Nobody is saying a battle of fists is fair. But the reality is that the wrong words can get you hurt. It is what it is. People these days think they can say whatever they want without consequences. Sorry, but it doesn't work like that.

But thanks to the internet, people think they can go around saying whatever they can because they're hiding behind a computer screen
