This and Polite was invisible again, I watched him purposely. What a disappointment. He looks like a kid that got paid and doesn't give a f**k. Hope I am wrong but I just don't see any motor in him at all even against 5th stringers.

I thought Kyle Phillips might have even showed enough to make the active roster. He REALLY flashed IMO

Marcus Cooper was a good surprise, but I think Williams played the style of defense we will in the regular season with a lot of big nickel and zone coverages behind. As opposed to the other preseason games we stunted a lot and didn't actual blitz that much. I suspect this defense will in the end blitz much less than previous Williams defenses, but will use muddle huddles, crowding the A gaps and other misdirection to create the illusion of pressure then have 7 or 8 in coverage. When we do blitz I see use using safeties to blitz swapping with big nickel and still just rushing 4. Will be intrigued to see if my view is what Williams will do.

Actually, the entire secondary looked solid but that was scheme and 4th rounders as much as anything.

Cashman needs to play 1st string, he showed the type of dominance over the future Home Depot employee crowd you want to see.

Burnett is not showing in the Gase offense, I think he will be a surprise cut (one we will regret) as I dont get the feeling the CS loves him

Bellamy showed enough to make the team because of his contract. Depending on STs White might make t too.

Dortch might have saved his roster spot at the end with some plays on offense, this was not the game to muff a punt. But there is always a chance they cut Dortch and keep Tay if he can return punts. Again I think this would be a bad call if he is a last cut

Luvu can play. He will help this team this year..

Shepherd is just a lost cause.

Polite looks like the combine/draft process guy not the guy on tape. I think this pick is worse than Hackenburg -EVERYONE was clamoring for Winovich there and a 2nd grader could see it was the better pick. Not a Douglas pick, so no egg on his face for cutting him, and actually sends a message. If he clears waivers try to sign him to the P/S. Wont happen, though not the way the NFL works.

I still get the feeling Kafusi is on the bubble because of his age, but shouldn't be.

He did a great job with trades and UDFAs along with bringing us the most important piece.  I had no issue moving on from him but he wasn't an idzik disaster, he did some good things.

He is history! He's gone! He has nothing to do with the Jets anymore! Later, Adios, See yah, Mike. Screw em' all.

preseason means nothing I have seen plenty guys get hyped up because of it and do nothing when the real bullets fly .. so like I said I hope he lives up to hype

People people people... Every one Listen please

Holmes is a guaranteed a spot on this team as an outreach program to get star athletes in other countries to join football.

Facts about this program:

- NFL assigned him to the Jets, as they did with the 3 players on the Dolphins, Pats, and Bills

- They do not have to go through waivers

- They will not be cut

- No other team in the league can steal them from your PS

- The players can choose to not play but they are getting paid to learn the sport and they volunteered for this program because they want to play football

- The real discussion is next year when they don't have the player guaranteed spot any longer

Or if he decides to take the $1,000,000 or so and go back to Australia and play rugby instead of sitting on a PS for chump change.  Yes he agreed to do this, but he was probably hoping to make the 53.  Who knows he might, but not likely.

We'll see what he decides to do

Great comparison, absolutely. I am never one to give up on people early, but this guy looks like he just doesn't care at all. Sad really with all of that talent.

Polite played virtually the entire game last night, don't know where you get 7 snaps from, that is totally false. I watched him on purpose. Hope I am wrong about him, but the look is no heart and no motor at all.

I fixed it . I only watched till halftime and he only played 7 snaps at that point....  but it doesn’t change my stance on I hope Chase live up to hype and  is the gold jacket player y’all are making him out to be.

They signed him more for STs, if be surprised if he got cut but there will be tough cuts at WR.

As someone else said, there will be players on the roster who play almost all special teams (in addition to the three ST specialists).  The role was basically Peake.  I don’t see how Bellamy and Peake both make the roster.  Bellamy may bring more as a WR.

I felt like Elijah McGuire didn’t really help his chances and will be cut too. He is a shifty runningback who has a hard time staying on his feet. Multiple times last night he had a step on his guy but just goes down with an arm tackle. Even had a touchdown on one play with a great angle but couldn’t stay up

McGuire is all-shake, no-bake.  Time to move on.

Webb awful

McGuire (who I really liked) is not much better- a goner

Cannon (who I didn’t like) has played his way onto the roster

Cashman what can you say, a football player

 Bellamy could inch out Burnett

Polite wow, we might just be cutting this guy

Falk I would like to see him as the number 2

Dortch love the little guy but not showing much

Bunch of decent DLineman going to be the toughest cuts

Gotta love Holmes looks like with some seasoning he could contribute to an NFL team

No Carl Banks voice was a triple bonus

Luke Falk was solid and gave an indication he could develop into
a long term backup.  But he's got to improve his internal clock
and get rid of the ball.
Too many times he held onto the ball too
long and got smashed.

I'm a Falkist, and am hoping we keep around to be our QB2... there's some long term value there...

However, you highlighted his undoing in his senior year at WSU, and it's unfortunate that's followed him into the NFL. Here's hoping but i'm not holding my breath.

The defensive Hackenberg. Literally every box for a bust was checked from January to April... Seriously. He checked every "Stay away" box there was, and that's why the motherfcker was there in 3rd.... and we AGAIN took that guy.

Fck you Maccagnan.

Just cut him now. Send a message to the old regime.

Gold Jacket? Who the hell said that? How about just a guy that will be in the Pats rotation & get better each year? I didn't see Chase in at all after the 1st quarter in the Pats game, tells me BB has seen enough & rewarded his relentless motor & tough play with some time off so as to NOT GET HIM INJURED since he'll actually HELP the Pats defense THIS YEAR.

Honestly, I rewatched the game paying attention to Polite. Don't get what all the hysteria is about. Is the guy flashing like a third round pick pass rusher should? No. But all this talk about him being a 'slug', not caring, having no motor, this is nonsense. The dude got a couple of pressures, he got a tackle for a loss on a RB he had good contain on outside run plays- which shows he is listening to coaching. He had coverage responsibilities, which I think shows that G.Williams is testing him- didn't give anything up. Again, he's a rookie and he's clearly struggling to make big plays. But tell me where he's giving up on plays, tell me where he's showing no heart, tell me where he's making big mistakes that are costing the team.  I'll go back and look at it I have the game on DVR. It's nonsense.

Now, does the guy need development? Does he need to work on his technique, power moves, strength, etc.? Yeah, he does. That's on the coaches. Could he end up being a bust. Of course. But some of the things I'm hearing on these threads about Polite are seriously HYSTERIA. I don't know what the coaches are thinking. But I can't imagine they would risk losing a guy with Polites upside to a bottom of the barrel depth LB. I just don't see it.

It's just MIND BLOWING that fans can draft better than the guy our organization was actually paying a freaking salary to!

Honest to god, Chris Johnson could have had a nerd load up on analytics & had a computer make the picks based on BPA & I guarantee you we would have been better off this 2015.

And the absolute worst part is Winovich was chosen AFTER Polite & by Satan. WORSE POSSIBLE RESULT because we need a pass rusher in the worst way & got a slug & Sam is going to be chased around for years by this guy. Horrible outcome.

Maccagnan was about to be FIRED in Houston.  That is now known.  How he was Upped to a GM job, only God knows.

That fact was made public after he was finally fired by the Jets.  Very similar to the fact that Westhoff was quoted in Bowles 1st year as HC as saying,"the guy doesn't even know how to make adjustments...he is going to be a Disaster"....quote TOTALLY suppressed by the Media until the very end.  Quote was bullseye accurate.

Yeah probably 10 years of Winovich making the Jets miserable coming up.

Where is Maccagnan now?  In some basement with a red stapler like in "Office Space"?  That's who he reminded me of.

It's weird how mac went from uber safe pick can't take a chance to wild out there super risky picks back and forth in drafts.

Cashman and Edoga look promising.

A player that got tons of love from some experts is tryavon westco and he has been a total non entity in this camp.

Yes, so miraculous we used last years overall  6th pick to replace him.  So put two first rounders in and get a second rounder back.  Yay Macc, so good.

You are saying we used a 6 overall this year to replace Sheldon Richardson who has been gone for 2 years?  Getting a conditional 4th for Sheldon would have been a good deal, we got a 2.

And the important part is we got Sam.

Except the exceptional tape and the numbers he put up in Florida. Stop it. You're talking about the combine. That's it. He didn't even have a history of injuries. And there have been tons of players that were stellar at the combine who ended up being busts b/c they couldn't do it on the football field. If you're talking about the combine just say that. And as I said already, what exactly is Polite doing so terribly that the coaches should give up on his upside? He's a rookie struggling to make big plays. This talk about him having no heart is nonsense. What the F**K do you know about his heart or desire to play? The guy was solid in coverage, very good against the run and outside run contain. And he had a couple of pressures. Again, he's struggling to sack the QB and make big plays. But the insults and the absolute nonsense I'm reading on this thread about Polite- specifically about this game, is absurd.

I was super excited we picked him in the 3rd, was really hoping he would show something in preseason to ease the doubt but you can't literally show nothing on the field all preseason and expect to stay on the roster. Maybe we throw him on the PS and hope for the best. At least Edoga looked good, imagine a QW, Winovich and Edoga draft going into this season. All 3 could have been impact players.

I think Westco is having more difficulty than coaches expected as a blocker- mentally and with the speed of the game. That's holding him back. Hopefully he catches up quick and develops into that blocking TE the Jets envisioned him to be. As far as offense, Gase probably has some plays designed for him that he is saving for the regular season and does not want to put on tape in pre-season. That's just my guess.

Gase said in the post game that Dortch is his return man. He also talked about trying to fit him on the 53... But has the job as of now.

Cashman is a great catch... if only the drafted Winovich with him instead of Polite... that would have been scary.

Cooper made the team before last night. After last night, no doubt.

Burnett is just not good enough...

Shepherd is gone... Polite will be inactive every week till injuries happen.

I am not sure how they fit Phillips but I am not sure how they don't keep him.

I am secretly hoping that JD can trade Shepherd and someone on the DL for help elsewhere... with Phillips, Foley, and Kaufasi emerging and that fact they are not getting rid of McClendon I am not sure how they keep them all.
