Glazer: Rodgers returning this year regardless if Jets are eliminated

I’m starting to believe he’s worried about his future with the team, there is probably talk going around about a potential house cleaning and he probably feels if he shows woody something this year it can 100% secure the run back.

I know a lot of people believe wood will just run it back no matter what but im not so sure

Good teams had no interest in him.   He is Brett Farve 2.0 and Woody learned zero.   Twice to the playoffs in 16 years and no one asks why?

Good teams have adequate QB's and wouldn't need to spend to acquire AR. Woody is a buffoon and was desperate. Carr was the smart move,  but Woody wants the headlines

I know imagine wanting to play for your team and help your struggling offense.

What a f*cking moron.  He should just pull a Becton and stop caring so his injury lingers into next season.  That would be so much better.

Some of you in this thread need a reality check.  You sit through this sh!tshow of a season and have to look forward to Tim Boyle and Trevor Siemian and you’re all b!tching because AR wants to come back and play ASAP.

Aaron being concerned about his "legacy" of coming back so quicky from an injury so he can give soliloquys on Mcafee about the medical marvels of ayahuasca over the smart thing of ensuring he's 100% for next season is not the "Team First" attitude you think it is.

Boomer Esiason said he “knew for a fact” that Carr was a bad fit in New York.

Strong statement.  No reason not to take it very seriously…

The best part of this is going to be when Rodgers plays just good enough for those 5 ******* minutes that he convinces the lot of you schlemiels that trying this all over again next year is a good idea.

IINM: considering Rodgers’ cap hit next season whether he’s a Jet or not - makes sense try it again. Only thing they can’t do is let his presence impact their drafting a QB. If that’s what they think is best.

Is it?

We are stuck with him regardless. If he plays this season poorly, free agents would be less likely to want to come onboard thinking SB contender.

When the free agents that sign with the Jets are of the calibre like Lazard, Cobb and Dalvin Cook on the back of Rodgers being traded here, we shouldn't be jumping for joy.

Rodgers took a cap friendly deal to play here.   Many seem to have forgotten that.  Yeah, he brought a couple of lousy players with him.  But Garrett and Davante next season?!?!

Turns 32 next year and is paid a bucket load of money by the Raiders. If Over The Cap is correct, any trade would likely have to be after 1 June, to reduce the dead money ($7.85 million post 1 June compared to $23.55 million pre 1 June) and increase the cap savings for the Raiders ($17.5 million post 1 June compared to $1.8 million pre 1 June).

Can imagine the Raiders asking for at least a 2025 first round in exchange for Adams. Not sure whether I want to pay that price for a guy whose best is almost certainly behind him.

How in the world would he know for a fact? Did Woody speak to him personally?

At any rate,  at this moment Boomer is wrong. Hopefully that won't be the end result,  but at this moment in time Carr would have been the better choice

Boomer knows people around the league.   I’m sure it had to do with Carr’s psyche.  NY media is brutal.  Some can’t handle it, obviously…

Over the next 7 games, give me all the potential outcomes where it makes any sense to put Arodge out there.

His cap hit is still not all that friendly, he reneged it which is nice but it is still a major cap hit.  Know what his cap hit is in 2025 about the time we have to start resigning our young stars?  51 million with a dead cap hit of 49 million.

Cap hit is great this year when we were supposed to contend but are falling on our asses.

We will have to pay the piper down the road and it will not be pretty.

How do you know this? Rodgers stated publicly he wanted to go to the Jets specifically. Further for all we know other teams did enquire but Green Bay rebuffed them. Lastly most good teams are usually set at QB thus had no need for him.

I'm with you. If he can play let's build some momentum and fix this roster in free agency. Best way to attract talent is if people are convinced this team is legit.

Honest question, isn't most of the cap tied to Rodgers? If not, do we have enough cap space for great, not good, players?

You know that Rodgers teams have made the playoffs more than two years, right?

To make the team better.  Nothing else matters.  Teams don’t sit their starting QBs once they realize playoffs are a pipe dream.  Also lets them gauge how much of a sh!tshow the offense really is prior to next year.

My point exactly.  No good teams wanted him.  Bringing in a vet is a band aid.  Road to success is draft and develop    We haven’t. We have been rebuilding since 2012 and can’t do it.  It takes too much brains, discipline and patience.  Woody has none of those characteristics

I don’t think or care if it’s a team first attitude.  The whole reason he’s still playing is probably more to prove doubters wrong than it is for the Jets.

But again, who gives a f*ck.  Before the trade people were crying nonstop about Rodgers’ diva-ness, then we got him and people started sucking his dick, and now they’re back to crying.  Cuz he got hurt and wants to come back. Ok lol
