Possible Suitor for Wilson

Listen to what the Jets have said though. “We’ve given permission” means it’s Zach and his agent looking at landing spots. If he doesn’t want Minnesota he won’t share that info with the Jets. If SF or LA aren’t willing to trade a pick, he’ll be back with the Jets. It’s the enemy you know for Wilson whose career is on life support as it is.

My point is that if a team that is not on Zach and his “ den mothers “ cry baby club list contacts the Jets and they agree to terms, he’s gone.

I don’t see it with how things have gone to date with Wilson. The Jets have bent over backwards accommodating him already. Woody isn’t going to have that type of change of heart. He’s either going to cut him outright and pay him (which I think both sides don’t want due to embarrassment) or trade him to LA or SF (who probably won’t give up anything). The Jets are the likeliest destination and they can sell the true redshirt year thing.

Hackenberg, was 2nd round pick that never played, mostly like every 2nd round pick we’ve ever drafted.

Both Blair Thomas and Zach Wilson where 2nd overall picks. Their impact or lack there of set the team back years, to the point we are all in on a 40 year old one legged QB with a lame duck HC and GM. Enjoy the carnage that’s going to be 2024.

Your original post said that you used to think that Geno was the worst QB until Zach came around, Geno was also a 2nd round pick. The reason Hackenberg didn’t play was because he was so horrible.

Well yeah, no one will disagree with you that Hackenberg was the worse QB.  But Zach was the bigger bust.

Easily. The #2 overall pick being a bust sets a team back badly, especially when you don’t recognize it quickly enough and cut your losses. The Jets may have been able to get a 5th last year for Wilson but they either didn’t self scout him well or were too stubborn to admit their mistake. The best thing they could have done was to sign either Minschew or Brissett and drafted a QB to develop. That’s old news now and they need to cut him if they can’t get a 7th or a pick swap and sign a vet, hopefully one of the two I mentioned, and draft a developmental guy in the mid to late rounds.

The Jets are not shopping Wilson. Wilson is shopping himself.
The entire league knows Wilson is available for trade and after the Jones trade his value is at best a swap of 7ths and the Jets paying most of his salary. How much shopping do the Jets need to do? And who's to say what they are actually doing or not doing? They are doing nothing because of your Wilson neurosis?

The Jets are not shopping Zach Wilson. The intent was either for him to get himself traded to LA or SF (not happening) or he’d agree to come back and play for his guaranteed 11 million as either the 2 or 3. Woody Johnson will not cut Zach Wilson.

The saving grace may be AR. He was talking non stop about how the Jets have to get rid of the bs and start to act like a real franchise. From the very start, Zach has brought nothing but BS to this team and Rogers hopefully has seen enough. Since he runs things here, if he truly wants this bitch gone, he goes to Woody, says “I gave you back$30 mm to make this team better and nothing will do that more than getting Little Lotd Fauntleroy the f**k out of here.” Trade him/ cut him doesn’t matter. Just get him out of here.

Yeah that’s not happening nor does he have that power. Wilson is Woodys guy. Rodgers isn’t the guy who’s going to insert himself to get players off the roster. He’s smart enough to give himself plausible deniability with anything roster related.

He’s the leader of this team. He is the one guy who can go to Woody and say “I want this guy off this team.” Much like Gary Bertier did in Remember the Titans.😎

The same Woody Johnson who said recently, “we need a backup QB, we didn’t have one last year”? Also, if he winds up being traded, he’ll only count $5.4M against his new team’s cap with the balance left on the Jets’.

Yes, the same Woody Johnson. What the Jets do and what the Jets say are entirely different.

Agree that they’ll excise the Zach mistake, but Rodgers wouldn’t be the driver there. He wants nothing more than to have a no-account, unplayable backup behind him, and Zach fits that bill. Rodgers is going to bristle like a mother****er if Douglas brings in Minshew at significant money.

That may be true about Rodgers but there isn't a snowball's chance in hell that Wilson will be on the team, let alone QB2.

I agree with you 100% on the crappy backup idea. That , in itself, is just a horrific that this team still has to coddle Zach right hip to the end.

Keep telling yourself that, Zach is starting games for the jets next fall

In your opinion, they still drafted him in the 2nd round, and the Jets and Raiders both determined that he couldn’t play.

Yup and he never played, so we have no metrics, nor eye test. Geno was terrible but is all World compared to Wilson.

Amazing how quickly any thread about this guy devolves into inane bashing revisionist theory tirades.

Can't remember the behind the back fumble, the three picks in the first quarter, the six picks in one game, the broken jaw, the 2-7 'winning' steak etc etc.

Geno Smith may now be a better QB .. but he was equally bad as a jet.

Was Hackenberg’s unmitigated failure in the AAF not enough of an “eye test” for you?

That makes no sense.

Everyone knows the Jets want to deal Zach. You think (if Minnesota was interested enough to trade a pick for Zach) their team’s GM wouldn’t just pick up a phone to call Douglas because…why?

Or they do get a trade done, and it’ll be an insignificant pick, but it’d have to be after paying Zach’s roster bonus or with the agreement that the Jets would pay it if a trade is agreed upon before it’s due. If he has any trade value, whatever it is would surely be higher with only $1MM remaining guaranteed rather than $5.4MM guaranteed.
