I don’t see it with how things have gone to date with Wilson. The Jets have bent over backwards accommodating him already. Woody isn’t going to have that type of change of heart. He’s either going to cut him outright and pay him (which I think both sides don’t want due to embarrassment) or trade him to LA or SF (who probably won’t give up anything). The #2 overall pick being a bust sets a team back badly, especially when you don’t recognize it quickly enough and cut your losses. The Jets may have been able to get a 5th last year for Wilson but they either didn’t self scout him well or were too stubborn to admit their mistake. The best thing they could have done was to sign either Minschew or Brissett and drafted a QB to develop. Or they do get a trade done, and it’ll be an insignificant pick, but it’d have to be after paying Zach’s roster bonus or with the agreement that the Jets would pay it if a trade is agreed upon before it’s due.
