starting to think it's a game of chicken with JD and Zach's agent.   If Zach wants a chance to be on a team this year he's going to have to redo his contract to become tradeable.   I think the ZW position is F you pay me, I dare you to keep me on the roster in camp.

Why even expend energy on this? He’s an obvious cut from a football perspective.

the Jets are so up against the cap I don't know how they afford to cut him

they need to redo Reddick as it is just to get the rookies under

The cap always gets fixed. There’s no reason from a football perspective to have him on the roster.

Whether you cut him or keep him on the roster... isn't 2024 Zach cap hit the same?  If so, cut him, revise the relevant contracts of certain players (like all 32 teams do every spring, for pete's sake) and presto

yeah yeah yeah

but seriously this time it's different

they are 1 mil under the cap as it stands.

they have 34 mil in dead cap from Laken, CJ, Lawson, Duane Brown etc

they will have to extend Reddick and or JPM just to get under and afford normal stuff like rookies and Tyrons incentives

they really don't have the 11 mil dead cap on a cut they can barely afford the 5 if he is traded

If he's on the team it's 11mil in cap. If he's cut it's 11 mil in cap. This isn't difficult. The only way to save any cap is through some sort of trade.

That's the thing about locker room cancers

They don't recognize authority

In fact Zach is record saying he'd make the next qb aka Aaron life a living hell

When people tell you who they are, listen.

Zach wilson is a team cancer who never earned a job in the league.

and even as a semi inactive number 3 he's a distraction and a waste of roster spot

Funny how loosely the word cancer gets thrown around by people who are not part of the team.
You should watch the 1JD after the Texans game.  The entire team was celebrating with Zach, hugging, slapping etc.  Garret Wilson always congratulates him.  Rodgers is trying to pump him up.  But you from your couch you think he’s a cancer

I looked at the sale listing of Zach's house out of sheer nosiness earlier today.

I have never seen a more bland, nondescript looking house. It was like an off-the shelf show home with zero warmth or individuality.

It does feed into the "was Zach ever fully committed to NY" argument. He often seemed to spend as much time as possible in Utah, and his spartan and - for an NFL QB - undersized house does add to the feeling that he was never going to be a Jet for the long term.

A nondescript $1 M townhouse?

Better than the claims he didn’t live in NJ

Pre-Draft Analysis

Wilson played in a pistol-heavy offense that featured full-field reads and mostly pro-style concepts. His best trait is his ability to extend plays, and he does a good job of adjusting his arm angle to generate throwing windows. What also stands out: Wilson's ability to throw receivers open and his touch working against zone looks. -- Steve Muench

Post-Draft Analysis

The Jets needed to start over after finishing last in points and yards last year. New offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur will put Wilson in position to succeed by using play-action to create bigger throwing windows in addition to using motion to help identify the coverage and create favorable looks. Also look for LaFleur to make the most of Wilson's notable ability to create and make plays on the move by getting him out of the pocket at times. -- Muench

QB ZACH WILSON, BYU

Call him a one-year wonder if you want, but he earned an impressive 78.8 passing grade as a true freshman before injuries derailed his sophomore campaign. This past season, his 95.5 passing grade was the highest in the country. His off-platform arm talent and special throws make him an elite quarterback prospect.

BR

gunslinger QB who exploded during his third year as a starter at BYU. He has the arm talent to consistently make throws at all three levels from controlled settings and while off-platform. He is a good athlete who shows the ability to create and ad-lib plays when initial reads are covered, which is coveted from the QB position in today's NFL.

Wilson has the utmost confidence in his arm and is not scared to throw into tight windows, even downfield. He will still need to improve on his timing, ball security, and when to learn to tone down the aggression and be a quarterback instead of a thrower. He showed confidence in concepts he ran often (mesh, mirrored routes) but would sometimes be lacking the ability to progress on infrequent play calls. His slight overall build is also something to note, as he won't be able to pull out of defenders' grasps as easily in the NFL and durability will be something to keep track of.

Overall, Wilson is a legit franchise QB prospect who will add excitement and explosive plays to whatever offense he joins, but might take some time to adjust to what he can—and can't—get away with at the NFL level.

GRADE: 8.7/10 (Immediate impact NFL starter, 1st round)

OVERALL RANK: 7/300

POSITION RANK: QB4

PRO COMPARISON: Jeff Garcia

Walter football.

Summary: Entering his senior year, I wrote that Wilson had flashed some talent as a sophomore and junior, but in 2020, he needed to transcend from being a game manager into play-maker and point producer. Wilson completed 66 percent of his passes in 2018 for 1,578 yards with 12 touchdowns and three interceptions. The following season, he completed 62 percent off his passes for 2,382 yards with 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions.

Wilson hit the nail on the head in terms of taking his game to another level in 2020, helping the Cougars dominate an extremely weak schedule while completing 74 percent of his passes for 3,692 yards with 33 touchdowns and three interceptions. Wilson crushed just about every opponent with the exception of losing to Coastal Carolina. Wilson could have returned to BYU for 2021, but decided to enter the 2021 NFL Draft.

Wilson has the skill set to be a good starting quarterback in the NFL. He has a strong arm capable of making all the throws and good deep-ball accuracy. Wilson shows the ability to fire strikes in the short to intermediate part of the field and good ball placement to lead his receivers for more yards. There is no doubt that Wilson can really spin it, with the velocity of his throws letting him fit the ball into tight windows. He shows the ability to work off his primary read in the pocket and does not panic when his first read is covered. His timing, anticipation, accuracy, and field vision are on point to be an effective pocket passer.

Wilson is a natural passer who can put air underneath the ball and loft in beautiful touch passes downfield. His ball placement is advanced, and he throws a very catchable ball without unnecessary velocity despite his powerful arm. Many college quarterbacks who have similar arm strength fire too many fastballs, leading to drops and deflections, but Wilson does an excellent job of easing off and throwing the ball with the needed velocity for the completion. When needed, he can rifle a laser past defenders into tight windows. Wilson should fit any offense as a pro.

Wilson possesses special mobility and athleticism. He is a dangerous runner with excellent balance and agility to dodge pass rushers in the pocket. Thanks to his feet and mobility, Wilson is able to extend plays, and he has the arm strength to make big throws off platform. Wilson is a threat to pick up yards on the ground as well thanks to some shiftiness in the open field. Wilson brings a backyard baller’s style of play who brings energy to his team.

Like all players going into the NFL, there aspects for Wilson to work on. Speeding up his reading of defenses and working through his progressions faster will help him. BYU had a good offensive line, and he had wide open receivers against weak competition, so working faster is going to be a necessity for him. Wilson also can have a tendency to let some passes sail high when pressured. He also will make some throws back across the field that he could get away with in college, but he will have to be more selective about doing that as a pro passer.

In speaking to a director of college scouting from a NFC team that is in the market for a new quarterback, they outlined the makeup concerns with Wilson:

“Johnny Manziel comp without the [drugs]. [Wilson] is fun to watch, but is he a 1-year flash in the pan? He’s a backyard baller who is fun to watch.

“Someone will grab him in the first. I doubt he gets to the second, because once the third quarterback goes after Lawrence and Fields, there will be a run on them. [Wilson] has character concern, rich kid who is an entitled brat -uncle owns Jet Blue -, parents are a pain, not a leader, selfish, and he’s a know-it-all.

“His positives are that he’s super competitive, not to get [sic] scared and won’t back down, extremely confident, very smart with keen recall and teammates will play for him.”

That college director outlined the makeup of Wilson well with the good and the bad, but that NFL team is very strict on football character, so perhaps that plays into them having Wilson as the fourth quarterback. Given that Wilson is confident, intelligent, and has good recall, one can expect he will interview well with teams during the leadup to the 2021 NFL Draft. In those short sessions, those qualities will come across, so many coaches will probably like Wilson.

In speaking to a director of college scouting from another team, they said this regarding Wilson in the first round:

“He’s going to go high. He may rise to the second quarterback in the draft. I think he’s a second-rounder, but I just feel the quarterback spot is different than others and the round is just a starting point. The postseason process changes a lot. He is as talented as the rest, minus Lawrence.”

Given his skill set and ability to interview well, Wilson should continue to rise throughout the leadup to the 2021 NFL Draft. He could be the second quarterback selected and will be some team’s franchise quarterback to build around. Wilson has the skill set and ability to be a solid starter in the NFL.

Player Comparison: Drew Lock. Some team sources have said that Wilson is a better version of Drew Lock, but they have very similar skill sets with arm strength, mobility, and a gunslinger style of play.

After reading his scouting reports about his big arm and athleticism the following year there are articles about “the jets got fooled” about his big arm and athleticism lol.

the annual reminder that next weekend is a crap shoot and half the guys taken in the first round won’t have the 5th year option picked up or straight up bust.

Whoever the 3rd string QB on the Jets this year is likely to get a lot of playing time.  It should not be Zach.  But yes, those 3 will be giddy if it is him.

Between 41 year old Achilles Aaron and Concussion Taylor...

The #3 QB on the Jets is going to play a big role this season.

ZW will be cut.  Jets know they can't have him on the field with this fan base again.

Regardless if it’s up to your standards it obliterates your claim that he refused to move to NJ, to keep a place in NJ or leave UT, which let’s face it was based on absolutely nothing

Exactly! That is why you go all out and trade up.  The draft is crap shoot anyway and the only way to be successful in a must win year is to use everything you have to move up and get the WR in a passing league.  Chances high this is JD last shot being a GM.
