Is Genos day an indictment of the coaching staff?

Listen, I'm under no delusion that Geno is a work in progress & has made many boneheaded young QB plays, we all know that in NY if your a 2nd year player you should play like Aaron Rogers.

I think this game is more of an indictment of Rex Ryans conservative nature on offense.

He's a gambler on defense but stifles offenses.

When the hell is the last time you can remember that we ran so many deep routes?

Where were these deep balls when we were running roughshod over Miami in NY?

Many posters on sights asked, " how come we never take shots downfield when refs call so many PIs?"

This regime needs to be fired for PLAYING NOT TO LOSE for most of the year.

They took all the fun out of the game!

MM did his best again today in the redzone to TRY TO LOSE by calling plays like a f*cking idiot.

Being a Jet fan is like everything is BACKWARDS.

Makes me think a guy like Kubiak might be able to coach up our offense with 1 more stud WR & a young fast RB.

No. We need to cut him tomorrow

well, if you're just going to change the subject once you've been disproven, instead of admitting that you're talking out your ass, there's not much to really discuss

Change the subject?  Huh?  Geno's poor passes were completions because of Miami's secondary play -- plain and simple. Just like you.  Now go get your f*ucking shine box!

To answer the topic question: AB-SO-LUTELY if the Jets have the ability to play like this then they should be able to play like this more than twice a year. This is all about the "Great guy" that the players all love and love to play for, the guy who doesn't hold any of them accountable-especially none of his defensive linemen or LBers the DBs wll they are all Idzik's fault and the offense well Rex is only the head coach of the defense and we and they all know that. Geno Smith brackets two good games  with a 14 game span of below mediocrity

Finnegan was probably playing his last game of his career.

This is the same thing Geno did at the end of last season that gave us hope this year. The guy plays a little better when he doesn't have to fear the consequences of losing. Nobody cares whether we win or lose today and teams out of the playoffs aren't playing with the same intensity in week 16. Unfortunately he can't be counted on to play with that kind of fearlessness the rest of the year, which means he is not a guy who should be starting in the NFL.

Maybe it could be when the games are meaningless he actually let's the offense PLAY and doesnt turtle them in frggin ground and pound and put his QB in terrible situations.

Only the idiots who are about to be fired can be fooled by a player who was the last in the league in ratings. The new coaches need only watch the tapes and read the stats to know where to put this guy on the depth chart-hopefully we can find a starter who has a career QBR of 68% 22 TD's and 41 turnovers

Or maybe the new guys realize that Rex is a stinking turd and has ruined one QB and well on his way to ruining a second, but maybe with decent coaching he will be more like the perfect QB today than the guy who three 3 INTs in 10 passes. Geno's lack of development is on Rex and that loser QB coach we have. Rex is HORRIBLE

Like Mangini ruined Clemens and Chad?? As soon as Chad got away from Mangini he won the East with the Fins..

The jets didn't play great today. Geno was still aweful, he just hit on a few big plays that he missed all through his first to seasons.

He had a perfect QB rating. You can still hate on  him and fellate Ryan as much as you want, but Geno was VERY VERY sharp today.

No he wasn't. Still took stupid sacks, still ran with the ball out for grabs. Still had a horrible conversion rate in the red zone.

I know u use stats and not your eyes (you tried to argue Geno could throw deep lol), but he looked like the same bad QB playing against a team with no motivation to win.

Also not a Rex apologist, but you don't care about facts.

Was today's game an indictment of the staff???  The answer
is a resounding, yes!!!  A month ago they played the same
team and they refused to call a pass play until there was
two minutes left in the game.  The staff showed they had no
confidence in Smith and may have been trying to stick it
to Idzik by saying "you may want Smith to play but we won't
let him throw".  There's no reason that today's game plan
couldn't have been used in the first MIA game.

Beyond that Smith's performance today is SO FRUSTRATING!!!
Because if we could expect him to give us just 50% of that
effort on a regular basis our offense could be devastating
next year:

- Draft Cooper with our first pick
- An OT with our second pick
- Let the kids (Aboushi, Dozier, Freeman & Winters) battle
it out for the starting guards

You would then have:

- WR: Decker, Harvin, Kerley, Cooper, Evans
- TE: Amaro, Blocking TE, Cumberland
- RB: Ivory, Johnson, Powell

Are you out of your mind?  His numbers may have been different but on the field he looked the same as always -- maybe even worse with his Ray Guy hang time on his passes.  The only reason he completed anything other than a short pass was the Fish looking like they were on ludes.
