What was the worst decision this organization made in the past ten years?

So many to choose from, but I narrowed it down to these five. 

To me it was ownerships decision to allow McCagnan a “do over” after the 2016 season.

Big Mac by a mile. Whether that was entrusting the team to him after the 2016 team imploded or letting him run FA/Draft and then firing him.

Maccagnan was the worst thing to happen to the Jets in the 21st Century. By a wide margin.

Maccagnan's personal belief that it's best not to use early draft picks on offensive lineman.  So we only drafted something like 3 OL in 5 years of drafting players.  It literally may be the dumbest front office policy an NFL team has had this century.

Problem is who else was buying the team?  Back in the late 90’s owning a sports franchise was not considered a good investment

Signing Brett Favre 

when we hired Mangini we knew we had a green head coach that we would have to endure growing pains with. But pairing him with Mike T we knew they had a Vision on how to build a roster. Once Favre  was forced upon them that vision was gone. We started signing bad free agents sacrificed draft picks and the plan that built the team Rex took to 2 AFCCG was abandoned for the next 11 years. 
 

I have hopes that that plan is being put back together now by JD

What about getting rid of Mike T.  Considering the the position the last 2 GM's put us in, looking back, should we kept Mike and let him rebuild? I know he sold the future but would we be better or worse off right now?

The move to retain Bowles was an underrated mistake IMO. Although I think part of that decision was based on going after Cousins in the offseason. If you recall Jeremy Bates was a Mike Shannahan guy and was elevated in OC in part to attract Cousins to the Jets. Retaining Bowles allowed the Jets to sell “stability” to Kirk. 
 

Entrusting Todd Bowles; a defensive coach on the hot seat, to oversee the development of Sam Darnold in his rookie year was a big mistake. Had Sam been paired as a rookie with a coach like Frank Reich who knows how things could have turned out.

Realistically, it's all thing Mike Macagnan.  He did things so mind boggling stupid I really sometimes wonder if he was sabotaging.

I voted for Gase - maybe with a competent coach Sam Darnold resembles more of a QB than a dumpster fire... but then again without Gase we may still have the coffee boy calling the shots.
