Pats and Belli part ways.

I'm listening to the Belli Kraft presser. As usual Kraft is fos. They say mutually agree to part ways. And cordially. Does that mean he was fired. Btw sounds like BB is going to another team. Even Kraft indicated it. He might actually have another job locked up.

Kraft wants to move on but doesn't want to burn the bridge. Belichick is a huge part of that franchise's legacy just like Brady. Belichick riding out the last years of his career somewhere else doesn't mean Kraft has to call him out or hate him for wanting to find a new job after he was fired.

FOX finally, mercifully takes Terry Bradshaw out behind the barn and Carroll takes that seat, where he’ll be awesome.

The funniest thing Fox does is cut away from a game for a live update and instead of handing this job--which requires the ability to process a great deal of information quickly, and then clearly and succinctly relay it to viewers in perfect sync with a video clip--to Curt Menefee, who has decades of experience doing exactly that, they give it to a 75-year-old ex-jock who frankly wasn't all that easy to understand even before the brain damage.

There is no way Pete Carroll would accept a job as OC.

Who knows?  If he knows Robert Saleh is a sitting duck, he might just waddle in.

This is, of course, fantasy.  Pete Carroll, I don't believe, would come back to the Jets under any circumstance.

They’re saying San Diego / Los Angeles (because of Herbert) but I’d bet @Dunnie’s house / car / houseboat against that happening.

BB’s #1 prerequisite is quality, stable ownership, and Spanos is a cartoon villain and cheap bastard.

True, I never thought of that when considering. What does that mean for all of the Commanders rumors? Didn't they just have a change in ownership?

Yes but the current owner is also the owner of the Devils and 76ers so he's a true sports owner and not a joke.

If that were true, he'd want Pittsburgh, San Francisco, Kansas City, Philadelphia, and to an extent, the LA. Rams.

Not sure any of those teams have vacancies.  So, he might have to settle with a second-class organization that has a lot of talent, especially at the QB position.  Because he'll need it to look good.

As a sixers fan I can tell you that he is a joke , is an idiot and always choose the worst people to run and coach his team

This is the best thing that could’ve happened to the Jets this week. The hold that Belichick had over the AFC East and the Jets specifically was unbelievable. Him being gone is a massive step forward for the Jets franchise

Maybe the Jets but not the AFCE.

The Bills and Fins are both 6-2 versus the Pats since Brady left New England.

The Jets were the only team of the three that didnt get the memo that the GOAT QB left the division.

what happened?

When he was DC under Parcells it was widely known BP wasn’t in it for the long haul. So the year before BP retired, Leon Hess (former owner) gave BB a million dollar bonus in his DC contract with the understanding he’d become the coach when BP was done. Hess died, BP retired, and BB took the money and ran to NE.

Considering how important ownership is to a team’s success, BB was right. He probably met Woody and was like hell no.

The biggest shocker would be BB coming back to the Jets. After that Bill going to LV. Also never happening with Brady a part owner there. I could see the Commanders or Atlanta. While Bill hates the Jets he's always loved the Giants but doubtful he would go there they'd have to fire their HC.

That would amazing if he ended his career with the Jets...won a Super Bowl here and then retired on a napkin, which would then go into the Hall of Fame.

Belichick's record in New England after Brady left as a free agent: 29-39 (.427)

Good luck to whichever team hires him next.

Great coach, terrible GM. He got lucky with Brady and was able to use his coaching and Brady's skill to make an elite team for 20 years.

Report: Patriots have contract in place to make Jerod Mayo the next head coach

The Patriots have a coaching vacancy, for the first time in 24 years. And, on paper, there should not be a search.

Via Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, the Patriots “established a firm, contractual succession plan in a prior contract.”

The NFL has confirmed that this continues to be a legitimate tactic to eliminate the need for a search that fully complies with the Rooney Rule, which currently requires two interviews with external minority candidates.

“The club would need to have language in the succeeding coach’s contract that is filed with the league prior to that season,” an NFL spokesperson told PFT in an email.

When this fairly considerable loophole to the Rooney Rule has been used in the past (e.g., when the Seahawks made Jim Mora the head coach in 2009, when the Colts made Jim Caldwell the head coach in 2009, and when the Ravens made Eric DeCosta the G.M. in 2018), the promotion has happened automatically. In this case, however, Rapoport characterizes Mayo as simply a “strong candidate” to replace Bill Belichick, “if he is the choice.”

But Mayo is already the choice. The succession plan has been put in place. Mayo is the next coach.

Unless he isn’t.

Per the NFL, if the Patriots decide not to follow through on the pre-existing commitment to elevate Mayo, that “would be an issue between the club and coach.”

In other words, the Patriots want to go in another direction (e.g., if they want to hire Mike Vrabel), they’ll have to work it out with Mayo. They’ll have to deal with whatever is in Mayo’s contract, if he doesn’t get the job now that the job has become open.

Basically, Mayo has already been promised the job. The team can un-promise him the job, but there could be contractual ramifications. And it could be expensive for the Patriots. But if owner Robert Kraft decides to pivot from Mayo to, say, Vrabel, it would be simply a cost of doing business.

**** Belicheat and **** Berbal and **** the Pats , their fans , and anyone who lives close to that rat hole of a stadium . They do none of this without Tom Brady. Does anyone for a second think belicheat would have had the career he did or even win one SB without Tom ? I hope he does try to win elsewhere so he falls flat on his face ...You only get to make a deal with the Devil once just ask Joe Namath he'll confirm/
