You have weigh in variables of suck, think a pie chart of suck if you will, before making a decision. This one is easy. Ryan Fitzpatrick: overall suck metrics 100%. Geno Smith: overall suck metrics 97.5%. Geno Smith is the obvious answer by 2.5 percentage points. It's math.

Freemanm
I just realized that Bowles will be the first HC since Rich Kotite not to take the Jets to the playoffs in his first two seasons. Not sure what that means but it's not good for Bowled

This has literally what I've been saying to you about Fitz for 2 years...and now you're flipping the script because its Geno? With Fitz, the upside was the playoffs, by virtue of him throwing 31 TD's and us winning 10 games. Geno's upside is 5-11. You either want a strong shot at the postseason or a top draft pick. Geno provides us with neither, much like Fitz at this point.

At least with Fitz and this team playing at its best, we had a shot. 10-6 >>>> a fluky 8-win season where we were outscored by 97 points. Geno is a 5-win QB, the type that will win meaningless Week 16 and 17 games to cost us a top pick. I prefer we continue to suck under Geno and turn to Petty, when he's ready, then either end up with a top pick OR find out Petty is legit.

FlaJetsFan
Barring a sudden injury next season, and a complete lack of even semi suitable replacements, Ryan Fitzpatrick will most likely never play another down in the NFL. He will end his career among the highest paid QBs in the NFL, on a per-game-played basis ($2MM per game). Overall, Fitz has probably banked around $35MM. That averages to ~$3MM per season (he has played 11), far below what decent QBs average in the NFL, but probably nothing anyone on this board would not love to see fatten his or her wallet. So Fitz now waltzes into early retirement at age 34 with a 35+ million dollar nest egg -- despite being an outstanding mediocrity overall in his chosen profession. Well, good for him, and bad for us. Once again, for what seems like a nightmare movie that never stops repeating itself, season after season, we Jets fans are left with major egg barf on our faces, as yet another over-the-hill or never-was athlete leaves town with a bucketful of gold doubloons. Going forward, I certainly hope Mac familiarizes himself with the concept of mean reversion, and that Petty turns out the The Answer (forget Geno, he's a band-aid at this point). Statistically, we are long past due to have one go our way. You never know.
