Mangini on First Things First

Recommended Posts

Nick Wright was interviewing Mangini on first things first... About Adams ... Who should STILL be the head coach of this God awful team.

Mangini didn't look so hot .. hope he is ok ... He looked very peaked ... Anyone heard anything ?

And the  QB he couldn't win with took the 1-15 Fins to the playoffs. Mangini couldn't win in a year when Brady was out..LOL

I’m pretty sure he did those things. It wasn’t Tanny.

And in the years we didn't get Mangold , D'Brick or a vis it was Tannys draft?
You know because Tanny rocked the players.

You also might want to look at the Jet playoff rosters under Rex, they hardly resemble the "loaded" teams some imagine Mangini left Rex.

Mangingi was the best coach this team has had in some time, if ever there was a guy that should have been given more time it was him.  Two winning seasons out of three, drafted well when he was there, teams were disciplined.

The 2008 team was pretty dangerous and about 2/3 way through the year was the best team in the league.

So why can't this amazing talent get any work?

Someone should let the league know he's been quite available for some time now.

Top three franchise savior after Weeb and Parcells. That he got cut off at the knees after three years was a travesty.

God I love how eternally jaded and divided on everything this fan base is..... I definitely belong here...

Still having impassioned fights about Mangini. Guys it was a decade+ ago .... It's ok. We should all know better than to expect nice things.

Gee, same with rex ryan the darling of many people on here.

Also 'great coaches' like todd bowles are working so that totally validates things.....and our own coach who has a hilariously bad resume so far in his career.

Feel free to lump him in with coaches who suck. Believe me, I'm right there with you there. Just don't try to sell me that this doofus is, "the one who got away."

In order for Rex fans to believe that Rex was good, they have to sell you on Mangini being bad. It’s the centerpiece of Rex Ryan mythology

Should've been gone after two. How's his son Brett doing?

Or people who have a wide variety of obsessions, including an unchained hatred for Rex, need to somehow make it so that Rex having better back-to-back seasons than any other coach in team history was somehow the result of a guy who can't get a job as a defensive control assistant.

lol Mangini?   Rex took "Mangini's team" somewhere Mangini could not take them even with Brett Favre at the helm.  They went 8-3 in 2008 and proceeded to execute an all-time great collapse.

I'm not arguing that Rex is great. I'm arguing that Mangini sucks worse. He couldn't win with the team he allegedly built with Pennington or Favre at QB, but Rex took it and won with Mark ****ing Sanchez.

Mangini only managed to sniff a one & out with Herm's team.

This is kind of preposterous criticism, IMO. Herm drove the team into the ground, Mangini inherited a mess. He took them to the playoffs 10-6 in his first year -- the fact that team made the playoffs and beat the Pats in Foxboro is an argument that he's a good coach, not a bad one.

Would be if he beat the Patriots in the playoffs, but he lost his only playoff game.

Herm had the Jets at 10-6 the year before he got fired. He went 4-12 with Brooks Bollinger as his primary QB. Mangini went 4-12 with Pennington and Clemens and held onto his job. He shouldn't've.

imo mangini did get short shifted just like delete pete did.  but he wasn't without some flaws.  remember how he dealt with pete kendall?  seems like it was a pretty petty and childish way to deal with a player.

Carroll, Belichick, those are the "guys who got away." Not Mangini, who never did anything with the Jets or after leaving them.

Mangini was utter trash.

To give him credit for Rex's superb couple of seasons is insultingly stupid.

Mangini overseen a team of cowards. Would get bullied off the field every week. A fraudulent pretentious prick.
