Jets Unsung Hero ???

Recommended Posts

Taking a quick break from the Rodgers saga.

There have been plenty of threads with the "best of" rankings.  I was contemplating the unsung heroes that the Jets have had.  Players that were around for a while, were solid all the time, were never drama queens but didn't get much fanfare.  Who is the Jets unsung hero ???

Here are a few that I can think of at the moment.

1. Brandon Moore

3. Kyle Clifton

4. Dan Alexander

5. Randy Rassmusen

6. Pat Lahey

7. Marion Barber (special teams ace from the 80's)

8. Richie Anderson

9. Shaun Ellis

10. Jerome Barkum

11. Joe Fields

Others ???

Any Aaron Rodgers news?

Btw, Zach Wilson stinks.

Ugh... I was trying to get away from star power and divas.  Now add OBJ to the mix.  He wants 40mm a year.  I say pass. They already got Lazard for AR to pal it up with.

Ben Rudolph. Barry Bennett and Jerry Holmes.

Jerry Holmes had some long legs.  The early 80's defense was my all time favorite.  I was just a tyke, but I became a Jets fan with that bunch.  Gastineau, Salaam, Lyons, Klecko, Mehl, Buttle, Blinka, Bobby Jackson, Jerry Holmes, Ken Schroy, Darrol Ray.  That was a nice group.

Leon Washington for sure!

Always produced but never giving the starting job. Awesome special teamer too. Wish we give more wr and rbs a shot with talent return duties but we always give it to some scrub.

Hell they thought Leon was a scrub and that why he got the ball. But man he was good.

Wesley Walker.  If you saw him play, you know how good he was, but he seems to be overlooked a lot by non-Jet fans.

and he was blind in one eye.  i remeber him talking about looking for the ball in his "blind spot" in some of the over the shoulder catches he made.  great wr and zero diva in him.  he came to work.

Walker and Toon were the best two WRs the Jets ever had.  No disrespect to the guy in my avatar.  After watching him play last season in an atrocious offense, I think Garrett Wilson can and should top them all.

Walker and Toon at the top for sure, but I would still include Maynard as arguably the best given his stats and performance in big spots.  I would also include Keyshawn as one of their top five all time Jets pass catchers.  And GW is on the right trak to joining them.  Rodgers will take full advantage of his skills.

Bryan Thomas, Pat Ryan and Sionne Pouha. People forget how well Pouha played in the two AFC championship years after Big Jenks went down.

Rex was so good at developing/coaching defensive lineman.  Suggs with the Ravens and look what he did with DeVito and Pouha.
