Becton lands 1-year deal

Recommended Posts

Wish him luck, maybe this free agency period and underwhelming interest will be a wake up call for him. If he wants to make it, he’s going to need to take better care of himself. Won’t be able to skate by until a contract year comes up.

With arguably the best GM in the NFL.

Go figure.

Important note with the draft over: Starting at 4pm ET on Monday, any unrestricted FA that signs with a new team will not count towards the 2024 compensatory draft pick formula.

Becton to Philly will get that started.

Won’t make that final 53.

Kinda weird because you'd think Howie would call Joe D. and find out any dirt before bringing him in.

It’s interesting because I believe that JD would be completely open about what his issues were with the player beyond what’s public knowledge with his friend, Howie Roseman.

Do we get a comp pick yet?

If the guarantees are contingent upon making the final 53, he won’t make it. They already have their RT of the future in Steen and drafted two guards this year. Stoutland is going to be mean to him, he’ll start whining about his knee, and he’ll be shown the door in mid-July.

No, that's why FA will pick up today.

Once the draft is over, free agents no longer count toward comp picks.

Would've had a 4th for Huff until they signed Tyron Smith.

This is exactly why it’s a 1 yr deal. Too bad only playing contract for contract every yr is the only thing that will motivate him.

Mailata is entrenched as the Eagles' left tackle after he signed a three-year, $66 million contract extension that includes $48 million guaranteed and a $20 million signing bonus at the start of April. Mailata is the fourth highest-paid offensive tackle in the league. Highly doubt Becton displaces Mailata. He'll either end up playing right tackle predominantly, be the swing tackle to spell Mailata or won't make the Eagles' roster.

Don’t think anyone is saying he will. Hes a back up. A starting tackle coming off a rookie deal would of been signed much sooner.

The only way he ever sticks is where he's motivated  to hit performance bonuses.

Proving the Jets wrong  and hitting some bonuses might give him motivation. It's hard to think that he has long in the league but this might be his sweet spot where he can prove the doubters and the haters wrong.

His new coaching crew might make  a difference.

The next Farrior

Yeah but Farrior was good when he was here. Becton rookie year was his best but even  then he pulled himself out for moderate discomfort. Not a football player, just a gigantic dude who hopefully saved some of that money.
