Ron Weasley reports Jordan Leggett has bad hands/poor routes

(Rotoworld) Connor Hughes of NJ Advance Media said Jets fifth-round TE Jordan Leggett "needs some work."

Analysis: Hughes came to that conclusion after watching Leggett struggle through rookie minicamp last week. While Hughes was impressed with Leggett's physical makeup (he's listed at 6'6/258), he criticized his "technique" and found his route-running to be "rough." Hughes also noted that Leggett dropped a "handful of easy passes" during receiving drills. Regardless of whether he's ready, Leggett should have a chance to see the field right away, particularly with Austin Seferian-Jenkins facing a two-game suspension to begin the year.

"STRENGTHS

Outstanding size for the position. Has experience playing in-line, from slot, and as a wingback. Former high school receiver with natural, confident hands to snatch throws out in front of him. Just two drops over final two college seasons. "

Receiving skills

"Jordan Leggett is one of those players that just makes things look easy. If he owns one stand-out trait, it’s his hands. Not only are they huge, but they work to cushion the ball and absorb the velocity on the throw. His grip strength is also impressive, especially when working in traffic. According to Pro Football Focus, Leggett only had three drops on 49 catchable targets during the 2016 season."

"Jets selected Clemson TE Jordan Leggett with the No. 150 overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft.
Leggett (6’6/258) made 38 starts for Clemson, tallying a 112/1,598/18 (14.3 YPR) receiving line and earning first-team All-ACC as both a junior and senior. PFF College charted Leggett with nine drops among 109 catchable targets over his final three years. A solid college receiving tight end whose NFL transition is questionable, Leggett was a poor run blocker on tape and has zero special teams experience. He was allegedly nicknamed "Lazy Leggett" at Clemson for poor work habits. At his Pro Day, Leggett ran 4.71 with passable vertical (33") and broad (9’11") jump numbers. Neither a run-game asset nor a dominant receiver, Leggett would do well to carve out a Jermaine Gresham-like career. Apr 29 - 2:23 PM"

Not sure where this analyst is from, but in all probability if you posted the negatives on this player you would see that he shows up for BIG games, and takes other games off.

I really liked the pick of leggett where the Jets got him.  The reason he was still there is because he is self confessed "lazy"  His stats, game to game, clearly  indicate that he brings his A game some weeks, and some weeks not so much.

This guy meets all the checks for an impact TE.  If he does it or not is all up to him.   According to what I have read he dropped several balls at the mini camp.  This is the NFL, you have to bring your A game every week.

Think Hughes view on it is fair.  Leggett needs to treat every time he's on the field like it's the NCAA Championship game.

This REEKS of a beat-writer having to find something to write (criticize) to sell papers.

WOW, a 5th round pick dropped some passes during mini-camp.  Better cut him!  FIRE MAC!  Another wasted pick!

There, that should just about cover all the reactions such a demanding piece was trying to elicit.

Just my 2 cents, but Connor Hughes always struck me as the least biased Jets reporter. Not as prone to post clickbait BS like Cimini or Mehta.

Perhaps....But the prettiest girl at fat camp is still a fat chick.

This is probably ridiculous but who gives a crap about any of the so called experts analysis, he will either play well or not play well and that will determine if he is any good or not.

You seriously think Connor Hughes believes this article will sell more copies of this local paper?

LIterally nobody on earth subscribes to the Star-Ledger specifically for this one guy's opinion piece about a Jets' 5th round rookie in May.

This is too silly. Two non-contact practices? And didn't he not drop any passes in college?
