I don’t know if I was the first or not but I definitely wanted him as soon as he was cut.

Bigtime upgrade over guys like Santos, Myers, Bertolet, etc.

Yeah I didn’t know he was dealing with a groin issue last yr. Definitely an upgrade.

It sounds like Bailey is coming here first so maybe we have a chance to sign him. You assume they will if he looks ok and no injuries. He was probably cut by the Boys because of salary. You'd think the Jets can get him at half price (2 mil) with incentives. Just my guess on what it would take. The last vet PK we signed recently was Nick Folk also from Dallas and we got a few good years out of him.

I liked him enough when he was coming out of college but I have no clue what he’s done in the pros so far.

Injuries..had hamstring issue early in TC

Free agent DE Jerry Attaochu visited the Jets Sunday.

Attaochu was recently cut by the 49ers despite signing a one-year deal with the club this offseason. Attaochu's early NFL career was derailed by injuries but he did record six sacks as a 12-game starter in 2015. He would serve as pass-rushing depth. Sep 2 - 4:51 PM

Source: Field Yates on Twitter

“Jerry was a guy we were excited about,” Lynch told reporters, via Joe Fann. “Unfortunately, due to some injuries, we didn’t get enough opportunities to evaluate him.”

That seemed to be the case during the preseason too, as Attaochu didn’t spend considerable time with the first- and second-string units. And when he was on the field, his pass-rushing impact was minimal at best.

Anyone know about this Attaochu guy ?

He was pretty highly thought of as a pass rusher coming our of Georgia Tech.  Struggled through injuries and never lived up to his draft status (2nd round).  Think he played mostly special teams for the Chargers -- may be the primary reason we are bringing him in.  Anything we could potentially get from him as a pass rusher would just be a bonus.

I assume that is last year -- he played through an injury (groin, I believe).  One of the most accurate kickers in NFL history prior to last season.  If he is healthy, there is no way we should let him leave tomorrow without a contract.  Would be the best kicker we have had in years.

He’d probably be the best kicker we’ve ever had and that’s not an overstatement. Certainly the best since Leahy.

Bailey is better than Folk ever was and I liked Folk.

Wait wait wait I thought everyone’s 2nd rounders turned into hall of famers except for ours?

Thanks for the info KRL. Watching the Penn State game made me fall in love with Sammy all over again! Talk about throwing receiver open… Sammy is certainly has extraordinary confidence in his abilities. The one issue I took with the commentary was stating that Sammy was inaccurate. What I saw was a  quarterback who put the ball in the only place that would ensure his receiver is the only one having a chance to catch the ball.

Very  excited to see what Sammy can do this year.

?Would love to see this get done! Other teams like Sea, Houston, Oak, Jax, GB may also be interested. Lock him up with a LT deal if healthy and splitting the uprights from 50+

Yup.  If he is healthy, don't let him leave the complex without a deal.  Hopefully Manish knows something and he is not just specluating when he says we are expected to offer him a deal (barring poor workout).

There will be a Lot of points required from the PK to win games this season. Could go a long way toward building Sammy’s confidence if he stalls in the RZ

very good, is it?

That made zero sense so I checked it

he had 77yds on 10 receptions.   If they threw him the ball 35 times for 10 receptions, that might be an indictment of his QB play? Or are you saying he had 25 drops?

Rex just wants his QB to have his friends around.

I am not saying anything.  Just sharing the info presented that I found online.  Per Pro Football Reference, he had 10 receptions on 35 targets.  I am sure some of the missed targets were on the QB -- bad throw, bad read.  But its not just drops that are on the WR. No way of knowing how many were drops, bad/wrong route, inability to get separation.

Ravens last year as a team caught 65% of their targets.  Perriman, playing with the same QB caught 29%.  Says something about the quality of the WR.
